Malawi finish at 61 days?

This is my first post in this forum, been a lurker for years. Never had the need to post before. So I have 3 Malawi going. One is at 61 days, second is at 59 and a third at 40 days. The one at 61 days looks done to me. All the calyxs are completely swollen. The only hairs visable are on the tip top two calyxs and they are brown. The other two certainly look like they will go beyond this. This is my first experience at growing tropicals. So is it possible that some Malawi will finish at 8-9 weeks?

yes, its possible to find 1-2 females from malawi pack that are early , as Dubi wrote . I run now golden tiger f2 early pheno pollination exatly to find some of that phenos . everything goes to 10weeks is good : )

thanks for the replys. This one is finished at 8 weeks. Looks good, just baffled when you are expecting 12-14 weeks

Hi Indy Jones,

8 weeks of flowering is too short for a malawi, the shorter flowering malawi phenos usually take 10 weeks to mature, please share a pic with us for reference if you have the chance, i'm curious to know it if was a rare expression or something enviromental.

Sorry Dubi I don't have a pic. I still have a clone though, I will see if I can start another one. My other 2 malawi are going the full time. One went 11 weeks and the other is still going at 62 days. The 8 week one looks very different from the 11 week one dried. The 11 week has a very wispy bud whereas the 8 week has a very solid bud. The one still going looks to be in between.

Hi Indy Jones,

The early flowering malawi phenos has chunkier denser buds and wider leaf, this kind of phenos are usually less woody and more fruity/citric. It has better 'bag appeal' than the long flowering phenos. You can find great potency and quality in this early flowering pheno, although the killer potency is in the 12-14 week malawi expressions.

Dubi they are still curing, but I sampled both the short one and the 10 week one. Very different. The short 8 week one I really like, very good potency. I am going to be keeping this one for now. The 10 week one I was a little disappointed in at first. Did 3 hits and felt very little, but the 4th hit BOOM!

Im glad you like the early smoke tests Indy Jones, i like to cure quite a lot the longer flowering Malawi and GT phenos to get that deep and impressive long lasting effect.
