What's new

Malawi 12/12 from seed

Definitely doesn't smell like any weed I have grown before, you can forget your fragrant Afghani type smells with this one, it smells like oil. When I walk into the room where Im doing my trimming it smells like someone left a big can of oil open in the room.

Whoop ! Results are in on the dry weights. The shorter Malawi came in at 85 grams and that doesn't include the roughly 6 grams I threw away because of mould and the bigger Malawi came in at 119 grams Im well chuffed with the results as far as weight goes of some extremely resiny buds.
Now everything would be perfect if only the Malawi is as potent as everybody says it is, will have to wait and see on this score will hate to think Ive spent all this time growing mediocre hay !

What a disparaging attribute of Malawi!
I guess you'll have to wait for a few months(at least) until you can judge a sativa ...

Hehe ! Didn't mean to be disparaging kind of shit faced right now. Just tried a little bud of the Malawi, considering its only just dried and not even cured, mmmm, very tasty, very nice. Yep well pleased with the results of this grow and hats off to Ace Malawi.

true that!

..patience is so important with true sativas! only the last 10 days of ripening gives you the real potency, too early and it´s more of a classic sativa high. and also a proper curing (2-6 month) changes the potency and effect more dramatically than with hybrids.

the smell you describe @aphrodisia sounds promising and your plants looked great. this should work after some curing

..currently I´m doing the third round of my Malawis from clone, I´m gonna push them up to 18 weeks (12/12) this time, it will pay off :)
gonna drop some pictures soon, they are still 10 weeks atm..

Thanks subrovka. The weed is seriously strong already and its only just dried so whats it going to be like after a few months cure ? At the moment its still got that mongy uncured effect to it but I think this will disappear after a few months. I guess Ace seeds weren't joking when they said this is the strongest sativa they have come across and I highly recommend it.

Excellent work subrovka :)

I like a lot the Malawi phenos you are working with (they all look killer).
I'm glad you found the genetics enough interesting to keep growing them, the resin production is outstanding despite the spider mites problem and i'm sure the outcome will be devastating after a good curing.

Thanks a lot for all your great updates, best wishes for the new grow!

Finally took down my malawis at 118 days 12/12 from seed as I lost part of a main cola to mould and decided to cut them down. Very pleased with the results of the 12/12. One of the malawis has super dense and rock hard buds with a good weight to them, super genetics.

Thanks also for sharing your Malawis, aphrodisia, and for your kind words.

Oily and resinous is the best way to describe the non fruity killer phenos. The colas of your Malawis looks impressive, congrats on the harvest! Please, let us know your opinion after the curing!

hi,

thanks dubi, i really appreciate your words. ..I learned that some phenos need much more N to stay healthy when older than 2 month!

considering that I use organic fertilizers like BioBizz, can´t talk about numbers like EC but they like only the BB grow with NPK 4:3:6 still after 10 weeks of 12/12.

they don´t like the bloom fertilizer with higher K and lower N, but I always add some batguano to the soil..

however, I´m gonna have a worm composter soon to draw some nice tea, I guess this is the way to go..

this is P#1 (killer pheno) at day 70, no good pictures but you can see already the big crispy trichs. i got rid of the spidermites as good as possible this run..there are some spots as you can see but they couldn´t spread, no more ongoing leafdamage..spidermites like weak plants most..

I took the tropical fruit pheno P#2 and pollinated it with two different Durban (CBG) males, one was earlier flowering.

I guess I made a mistake a few weeks ago when I posted some pictures of a supposedly Malawi x Durban in the "show your ACE x´s" thread, but this was actually a Malawi x Jacks Cleaner II and I made a labelling mistake with it..I´m gonna correct this in the said thread!

..anyways, this is deffo Malawi x Durban, I´m so excited about this cross:

Thanks Dubi will do. I generally find with my harvests that it takes 5 to 6 weeks curing after drying for the full potency of the buds to kick in, I guess thats when they become fully decarboxylated. The malawi being a full sativa Im not sure if it will take a longer curing or not we will see.

Thats a nice bunch of colas nice job mate.
Tangwena

hey tangwena nice to read you! I´m gonna take some better shots these days..i have actually 3 big malawis budding atm but still at about week 10, I´m gonna show a reallly nice bunch of colas in a few weeks it´s a fucking thicket :D

The high from the Malawi reminds me a lot of Hawaiian snow. Whats there not to like, heavy yielding and super potent at the same time, once again great genetics from ACE. Would really like to try their golden tiger next.

Malawi x Durban

some pics of my Malawi x Durban seedlings, they stay outdoors and will go indoors under 12/12 in a few (2 or 3) days.. from sunup to sundown is exactly 13h 20min where I live, today.
they are about 3 weeks old now and had just a few direct sun hours on a west balcony, anyways they are pretty vigorous and healthy.
as soon as they get under 12h of 750W HPS they gonna explode, i guess : )

I started a pair of Malawi feminized seeds this week. Happy to say they are both rearing their heads above ground.

Ill be posting pictures and keeping up with the grow on my Panama thread.

Very excited to be finally growing the Malawi.

12/12 from seed .................

Learned that the soil I used to start the Panama is barely mediocre.

Seeds now planted in FoxFarm Seed Starter soil. I inoculated the soil with a couple different microbe/bacteria products. Watered with ACT.

The plan is to either take a big gulp of tincture and swallow the cost of a couple bags of Soil from BuildaSoil.com or use the Foxfarm Potting soil and feed with NFTG.

Going to keep them in smallish fabric pots, so im not sure if a Super Soil is worth the bucks. Ill end up feeding anyway.

sounds nice!

..I had some issues like red stems and poor growth in the third month of flowering in the first round from seed, but now from clone it works much better for me! they stay healthy in 8L pots, I feed just the soil with organic growth fertilizer higher in N..actually pretty easy to grow but I had to understand to give them more N also in the third month of flowering..: )

ps. i´ll be checking your panama thread, so i can see what i´m gonna deal in the future with : )
