This is one of my BIGGEST peeves. People using the wrong terms when referencing, growing, breeding, or cannabis at large.
I hear these ridiculous malapropisms on a regular basis, several times a day.
Just today Ive heard or read, in reference to Phenotypes; "Phenols", and "Phenoms". Another common one, "Trichromes". Only thing worse than that is "Crystals". Cannabis doesnt grow "crystals".
How about referencing a light and spectrum with, "Luminas". Thats a vehicle for christ sake.
Im not sure why these things bother me so much, but please get your terms right, and understand them before trying to use them. This would be advantageous for all.
Ive never visited a dispensary myself, but I watch a lot of the dispensary reviews on weedmaps etc.. I even see bud tenders, and those who are supposed to be knowledgeable, and sharing information, using these terms.
What are some of the ones you are hearing? Some of your favorites?
If you read, or hear someone using these malapropisms please correct them!
Great thread topic.
I definitely agree with you. Even gave ya +1.
this is not an industry, it's life.
language is not the domain of academia or referential authority. language is the domain of life, whatever will speak it, the birds, the wind.
wherever there is form, there will be ape.. mimicry and adaption. there may be error. and ignorance and nescience. it will not be extinguished.
there may even be humour. or wit. or cant. or play.
don't worry.
^^ This is all true in my opinion
I like your style.
The Revolution when you hear em..do you correct and or educate them? I hope so..
One of my good friends/smoking buddies is a 1st language spanish speaker, & he butchers words all the time. I nicely tell him the right way to say things and he has improved a ton (10+years now) (and he bugs me tons less ).
I smoked this sick-ass strand today.
This is the most common thing I hear.. hahahaha
