Looking good Alfred! I was going to wait until fall to get mine started due to hot weather and my grow space not ready. I reconsidered as the temps came down and now have 2 purple afghans and 1of2 viiet chunks sprouted. The other VC should be out of its shell in no time. Pics to follow when something interesting to show. Thanks again for the opportunity to try these!

Emergency Harvest

Emergency Harvest

Hello, all you Vietchunk Lovers!

Hello Alfred, you smart creator of this fine herb.

As I checked on my Vietchunks today, I noticed that one of them had a budleaf dying off in a way that calls "BUDROT" out to the experienced grower.

I removed the leaf, and what I found was looks like the slightest beginning of budrot.

The plants had flowered for more than nine and a half weeks allready, and had an overall ripe look.

(This pheno was a very fast flowering one anyway)

So I decided to harvest the top, in order to avoid budrot taking over.

I normally don´t quickdry my buds anymore, bt in this case I just wanted to know how the final outcome might be like and smoked a small bowl of quickdried crumbled flowers.

Of course the resulting smoke was pretty harsh, but not as rough as I expected.

The taste was surprisingly natural and pretty good for a quick dry.

And what can I say: The effects are surprisingly good, creeping up on you a bit, and mostly in the head.

A really nice natural high with a tiney bit of psychedelic influence, as your motion gets a bit, well hard to describe, a floating high where everything seems a bit cloudy and, well... a bit high,- very oldschool like as some imported hashes and weed I had.

The turn actually led me to write this strange little "Live Report" here.

So if my spelling or general way of writing is a little strange, - blame it on the Vietchunk.

This pheno has a very dense Top Cola, which makes it even harder to detect mold that may be hidden inside the bud.

The trichome coverage is pretty unspectacular.

All in all I can only hope that this budrod problem was just detected early enough, and say: I like the high.

I din´t take any pictures(the decision to cut it came very fast...), but I´ll take some pics of the manicured buds and the final product(hopefully, let´s knock on wood..)

Once again, Alfred:

Your Vietchunk is a great marriage between the Deep Chunk bringing down the flowering time and to get shorter plants, but obviuosly without destroying the wild and exotic character of this fine Vietnam Ganja.

A touch of yesteryears weed, a little time travel back to the late seventies, I can feel the Vietnam Super Sativa spirit shining through.

Ohh my...

Ohh my...

Deep inside the bud, as the typical budleaf allready promised, there is a big spot of budrot allready with visible spores.

Wouldn´t have taken longer, and the budrot would have spread thoroughout the garden and eaten up the Cola from inside out.

But the damage on the big cola is allready too big.

I have to throw it in the gabbage,- sigh!

Let´s see wheter I can safe at least the lower buds.

Guess it´s time to harvest the other ripening girls in the growroom, would be a pitty to loose fat buds like those to mold.

Hopefully the second Vietchunk female has a similar high, it looks even more Sativa like, but with trichome blistening foxtails.

So I got two phenos:

One with a fat dense top cola that had to be thrown away(we could say: it was a wee bit TOO dense,- sigh...).

And one with foxtaling buds, but a higher resign content.

Ironically, I normally would be totally pissed about a big but useless top cola, but the high of this plant keeps my wibes positive.

I will now check very close on the lower buds, would be great if I couls safe a little bit of this girl.
