Making ICMag self-sufficient.....

like Ron Bennett says - times are tough

so...it's simple

FAKE BUD ads are the answer!

....those companies seem to keep High Times afloat financially and would keep ICmag going too..and it looks like they are chompin' at the bit (jsut like tobaccy co's) they have ooddles of loot to splurg on advertising

and before everyone screams "PHUCK OFF YA BASTARDO"..consider this.....icmag with fake bud or porn ads ....or possibly no icmag??

...if that was the case, then to me, it woudl be an easy choice..and anyway it's not like it would be compulsary to buy the crap or visit the porn site would it?

but I wouldn't stop at that...I'd also suggest attracting gambling ads etc etc as well.

and how about adding a classified ads section for smaller head shops, glass blowers, smokewares etc to bring in a few quid as well?

bing bang boom, ratta tat tat ...problem solved...now you're laughin'!

don't clap your hands fans..just throw joints!

and btw everyone is yelling out that 2500 Euro is too dear...that's right, but it's for 3 or 4 sites, not one..which makes it about right, doesn't it?

how about extra ad banners in between posts, say 3 each page + the one at the top? just a thought.

and get the icmag shop working (either i'm being a complete noob or everyone is getting "1046 - No Database Selected

select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration

[TEP STOP]")

Well gypsy, as in any situation where you are over-budget, you only have two options:
either charge more or spend less.As far as a membership goes, I understand alot of people seem willing to do this, but....these sites have always been free and I think this would force alot of otherwise contributing members to go elsewhere for their canna-board experience(planetshitjob probably). I myself have been around since the Overgrow days and have always felt the "freeness" of being at these sites is what makes them so unique and great(not that I don't feel for ya though..I know you have to foot the bill).I guess even back in the day RC was asking people to subscribe to O.G. and become a member of team overgrow.Well gypsy you just do what ya gotta do I guess..as for us we'll deal with it in one way or another.I know the idea of making ICmag a subscription based site has been kicked around before, personally I hope that never happens..but if it does what can ya do?Good luck..I wish you well.

I put my money where the cannabis flowers bloom, and that includes print magazines and books, because i am a supporter of the canna-arts and sciences.....

My humble suggestion is that IC starts a thread called "Gypsy's 20 dollar sack" where in return for a small green velvet sack (that you can use to store your glass piece or nug jars) we will send you 20 dollars.......of course, we all know that basically this is a donation to IC for all the years of awesome web service and electronic chronic pics :kisass::kisass:......

Even if you don't send us an actual green "sack", maybe Dutchgrown could just make a "green sack icon" which gets tagged to our profiles and tells the world that we donated to supporting ICmag and its services......click on the "sack" icon and you will be taken to a page which tells the whole story of the "sack" and how you can contribute to helping ICmag stay afloat......

If i can be labeled "hospitality guru", i know there's some way to generate a green "sack" icon that can be tagged to our profiles.....maybe next to that "reputation points" icon?

Anyway, i hope you read this GN and DG, because i think this idea is quite brilliant....I will be the first to send you 20 dollars and i will gently and subliminally harass others to do the same....

i definitely like that idea. I think a lot of us can easily find a $20 layin around somewhere to help the cause.
I'd be more into the icon than the physical thing though, just because i'd prefer my username isn't attached to an address (ill let the feds work a little harder for that info).
Maybe along with the sack icon we could have a "donator's forum" where only people who made donations could go.
That way we could keep the site 'as is' free and just add on a simple area for donators (also known as a 'probably-not-gonna-be-trolls-here' area).

I know this thread is old, but why don't we get on this

:)

:)

I have no prob donating $20 to keep this community going.... 20 bucks over the 24k + members... close to half a mil to keep this site goin for a few yrs at least...

Can't help but wonder what revived this thread? Has Gypsy said something somewhere else to make us think a year later he's not got a better handle on the sitution. If I send $20 I want a real green bag of my very own to have and to hold in my hot little hand. I'll pick it up from the seed shop or at 420.

Speaking as a reformed one post wonder, when I first got here it was sometimes hard to find current threads that I had an interest in or felt I could make a contribution. I still get confused but thanks for clarifying. I am happy to make my "contribution" at the seedshop. Maybe that little green bag with a logo on it or an intricate glass pipe. I really like Gypsy and his approach to it all.

I run my site on pure donations. I only have around 500 members, my costs are around $100.00 (USD) per month and they have been covered by donations for the past several years.

I put a special icon on the members name, and allow them to be able to change the description under there name.

I put a colored link in the navbar for donations.

whatever happened here? I don't ever see any Tshirts on SB, or here either (ICMag shirts), but I do see the pricey ice bags. So, what is the current situation?

Donations: Just add $5 to every seed order when sending in payment, that should provide a nice chunk in a month, and it is not asking for too much. I can't send $20 because I don't make any money (shitty long story) to give away, other than to my kids. But, I do collect Tshirts and probably would buy one for Christmas or something.

Anyway, what happened... does anyone know?

Thanks for having me here. I have made a purchase of your products. I was a 4 pack and some mystery gift. I'm coming to a point. I added the free mystery gift to the 4 pack, to get a total of 5 packs of seeds, and sent payment for the auction plus $10.00 for shipping instead of $5.00.

Please make sure you get the extra 5 bucks, if it's extra at all from seedbay. I guess I took the ship rate as it is written.

Best Of Luck!
