...or hoping to anyway
When my garden is going as it should be, I harvest 180 plants at a time, 9 - 1000w lights worth. I have no help with that other than from my partner, a 60 year old conservative, stubborn, republican who likes to listen to Rush Limbaugh. He refuses to let me blindfold any of my trusted friends to help out with the trim. Last run was pretty much hell for me. I don't think he liked it too much either.
So I decided to shell out $2900 with the hopes of getting this whole harvest thing over with more quickly.
FedEx delivered it a day early and I'm always stoked when that happens.
So here's what came:
Some assembly required. Only a few loose parts and no tools needed. This already is starting to seem pretty idiot proof. Directions are one page, and warnings are on the back of that page. No other documentation.
Legs go on easily:
Everything else stacks and fastens together super easily with the rubber straps:
I went with the Automatik because of the vortex popcorn trimmer attachment. If you haven't seen the youtube video, all the small buds that are a pain in the ass to trim by hand get loaded into the top:
The popcorn whirls around inside as the fan chops off the little leaves that stick out. After 1 - 3 minutes, you open a door:
And the popcorn falls out of the chute:
(I cut my finger with a knife last night, the injury was not caused by the trimpro, haha)
The grate opens up off the top for easy cleaning and blade adjustment. To make the unit stoner/idiot/drunk proof, there is a kill switch for the fan and another safety that stops the blade from spinning if the grate is opened up.
The larger buds and colas will be trimmed up without the hopper top thing off. Just rolled by hand over top of the grate. I am not expecting to get a beautiful, hand manicured - looking end product from this thing. For me it's meant to give a rough trim, getting most of the bigger leaves out of the way faster than doing it by hand. I used a trimpro workstation about 3 years ago in California and it worked great for that. Once dry and the buds get cut off the main stem, they'll get the nicer attention they deserve with actual hands and scissors.
The machine weighs about 80 pounds and is very well built in my opinion. The only problem I have, is when the fan is on, it seems to be hitting something, causing a clicking sound. I just haven't found what it's hitting yet. When I can get the fucker not to click, it's actually not that loud. No louder than a 10" exhaust fan.
I have 20 plants coming down hopefully this evening, so I'll be furthering the report then.
