Major Earthquake In Japan Major Tsunamis

Do you guys think that Japanese auto manufacturers will shift a large portion of their operations to their US facilities until the blackouts stop and the infrastructure is somewhat restored?

I think Japan is really careless that they went ahead and built those 22-25 nuclear reactors....What the Hell were they thinking ???!!
Frankly I'm sort of pissed off.
I'm going to stop short of saying that they deserved it.Indirectly or directly.

they built them because nuclear was the best option for them
Japan doesn't have much in the way of fossil fuels, importing those for electric power generation just wasn't feasible from their point of view
the killer wasn't the earthquake, it was the tsunami that knocked the critical cooling generators off line
you could say this about every nuclear reactor built, though building in Japan was a riskier deal
so there will be much debate and gnashing of the teeth about nuclear power
but how many think the nuclear reactors are going to be turned off in this country?
not going to happen - they are there because they are needed, and that's not going to change in the near future

The killer was the failure of the mechanical coolant pumps for the second time when the back up generators went out.

It is my understanding that newer models of this reactor now use gravity instead of mechanical means to pump coolant.

that's kind of what i was referring to, the backup generators were taken out by the tsunami(as i understand)
gravity fed system sounds good but you'd think an earthquake might take out such a system(from broken feed pipes/etc.)

I was wondering the same thing, igrow.

The only thing I could come up with would be that maybe a gravity fed system would also be easier to get back up and running if catastrophe struck.

I don't mean to be a thread nazi, but let's all avoid 2012 discussions. Those comments are completely irrelevant.

2012? why irrelevant? check out this ones:

http://endtimesforecaster.blogspot.com/2011/02/comet-elenin-and-pole-shift-theory.html

and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95zMdTvoqcQ

both were written before the earthquake... i don't know about you guys but for me this teory it makes sense...and this is not all, there are many other teories that somehow all are becoming true...
you cannot understand what's happening all over the world until you get the BIG PICTURE!

my english is not so good so i cannot explain it properly...but if you will do research on yourself and really want to know, you'll end up understanding that this world it's not how you think it is!

Looks like they've started spraying water onto reactors 5 and 6 which are a bit away from the first 4 reactors. Appears they were offline at the time of the quake for a planned outage but the cores are now starting to heat up.

They're talking about some containment vessels at least cracking and I dunno but those fuel storage ponds seem like they could be really bad news.

WTF is gonna happen ultimately if they have to end up abandoning the facility and letting whatever reactions are going on to just run wild? It does sound like some, the French, say that it's pretty much a done deal and the Japanese are fucked...hope not.

it's hard to know just what is happening precisely, we probably won't know for sure for weeks, maybe longer
the 'containment pads' inside the reactor containment shell are supposed to be able to deal with the situation
looking past the imminent situation, there must be one hell of a conversation going on for what the generational replacement will be for these reactors
again, Japan built these because it was their best option
coal/natural gas? practically speaking that's your other choices for them, or other nuclear reactors
more nuclear reactors might be a tough sell right now

FUKUSHIMA, Japan (AP) — Japan has suspended operations to douse reactors at a troubled nuclear power plant because radiation has made it to dangerous for crews to keep working. Officials determined that the level of radiation at the plant is too high to carry out even minimal work. Earlier, officials said 70 percent of fuel rods at one of the six reactors at the plant were significantly damaged

The rescue workers that deserve the most praise are the 50-70 engineers at the nuclear facilities that are still on site.
These aren't Homer Simpsons, these men are doing what few men would have the courage or honor to do. You don't see the plant owners, just a dedicated few.

I totally agree and have basically said that. Lots of information available with some BS and some factual and everything in between. What's going on is constantly changing.

Small teams of the still-anonymous emergency workers rush in and out for 10 to 15 minutes at a time to pump sea water into the plant's overheated reactors, monitor them and clear debris from explosions. Any longer would make their exposure to radioactivity too great.
If they've got guys in there like that collecting some data and viewing the situation I think they might have at least some idea as to what's going on.

What an INSANE situation this is to try and deal with...4 messed up reactors, 2 starting to act up, fuel storage ponds problems and after the infrastructure to deal with the situation effectively is severely compromised...but...
The operator of Japan's tsunami-crippled nuclear plant says it has almost completed a new power line that could restore electricity to the complex and solve the crisis that has threatened a meltdown.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. spokesman Naoki Tsunoda said early Thursday the power line to Fukushima Daiichi is almost complete. Officials plan to try it “as soon as possible” but he could not say when.

Nice vid Elmanito and makes some sense. I've said before there's a major fault in the PNW area. We'll see how this shakes out and may shake me a lot!

^^ FAUX news is not a good reference, although i get the idea you are trying to convey. You guys realize that if ANYTHING happens in the PNW, then our wonderful friend Yellowstone will be making an appearance. Global tides or not, cant do any shakin without the good ole' Stone.

fuck you guys with all the doomsday mumbo jumbo/vodoo. I have a prediction of my own, and ill write it in proper mystisism.

cue ambient noise.

"double click your calendar on the bottom right of your screen, click change time and date, then click on year, why does it not go beyond 2099?! Guys! Armageddon is truly upon us! ."

Cyberwaxianus. (seriously should the mayans be writing the calendar to the end of time? beyond the year of a google? how many slaves and stones would that waste? I dont think the
maya's were that stupid, in fact evidence shows otherwise.)

If by chance some date, by some guy hits the day where the end is truly upon us; i garantee you its not because he actually knew; but because he was incredibly "lucky".

Elmanito is far from an idiot. He and I are on the same page in some ways. It's not FAUX news it's just information and up to the viewer to determine legitimacy either in part or all.

Some peeps basically said hey...the design of the reactors in Japan will contain any worst case scenario.

fuck you guys with all the doomsday mumbo jumbo.
I don't see anyone predicting doomsday just the greater potential something may happen...like betting on a football game...which side would you bet considering the odds and info you have available on their history?
