Magnesium Or Nitrogen Def??

Hello , its me again. I was wondering if anyone can say whether this looks like a Mag def or Nit. All the other leaves on the plant are fine except this one older fanleaf. so thats why im unsure.

Also look at this shot of one of my plants. Do you think i should chop off the fan leaves? Ive never done that before on any of my plants. Everyone is torn on whether you should chop the fan leaves to expose the bud sites or not. All my old fan leaves are creating a thick blanket over all the budsites along the main stem. The budsites visible are the secondary branches that managed to stetch their way above the fan leaf canopy. Theres a lot of leaves all over the plant so i dont think it would die if i removed the fan leaves. but then again it could ive never done it before. Ive got 4 more girls to play with but this one is the most advanced. so if it did work i would have a fore runner to learn on. and if it failed i still have 4 more girls left. and little extra space in the box. What do you think i should do?

I am not really a fan of chopping off fan leaves to let light get to budsights. The leaves are basically the energy factory for the buds. What I do is cut off all the lower budsites that don't get light and will probably just be wispy buds. This makes the plants put more energy towards the top shoots that are getting the bulk of the light.

What makes you say theres too much N?

Setup is,um some dirt in a pot?

miracle gro soil, i havent ferted them yet, under 125 watts of cfl.

Why shouldnt i pee on my flowers? nitrogen is nitrogen it only becomes a problem when you're over doing it. before you say im over doing it see my previous sentence.

1: DON'T chop fan leaves. Only tragedy will ensue. If anything, follow Pico's suggestion...better yet, try side-lighting, or LST.

2: I used to encounter nute-burn from nitrogen until I switched to organic canola-meal as an N source. It's a very effective, yet mild, plant-source replacement for animal/waste products. Smooth sailing ever since; you ought to look into it.

Super dark green leaves, leaves clawing, twisting leaf tips, leaves curling downward. The ammonical nitrogen is your main problem...and yes, you're overdoing it.

Well i havent added a single fert since day one. And i just flushed em like 2 weeks ago cuz Blackvelvet told me i had ammonia toxicity. They recovered from the ammonia toxicity. And now my one leaf is showing a deficiency which i guess is magnesium since you say theres too much nitrogen in the soil and obviously cant be a nitrogen def.

I dont know the ph cuz i dont have a ph meter.

and the piss talk came from me using pee as my nitrogen source. and its my title. see.

<---

im already doing lst as evidenced by all the strings and the sideways growing plant.

sounds like that miracle grow soil is too hot.

Don't worry about a single leaf too much. plants drop leaves like I drop doobies. Worry about why the rest of your plant is insanely green and twisted. I would agree with MTF-sandman.

The term 'BURN' comes from the fact that it looks like someone took a blow torch to your plants. All the *tips* and edges will be burned all over the plant. Top to bottom.. Not just a few leaves with yellow SPOTS. IMHO

i havent seen a ph meter under $50. i think you forgot a 0. i dont understand your last post legion. all the leaves on my plant are green, theres a couple that touched the lightbulbs and got burn spots.

well you can spend 5 bux on test strips for fishtanks and use them to test your run off water, or you can spend ten on one of those poke in the ground type meters and then you would know your ph too. Digipens aren't the only way to test ph.

Aside from the nicer PH testers out there, I would take the PH strips reading over the one you poke in the ground. I have one though, but I use the moisture meter setting. Strips have worked for me as far as establishing the PH of my distilled w/nutes. Once you know that, an occasional run-off reading is all you need to make sure your soil is in the target area. PH pens, such as the Hanna,(in my opinion) are much more necessary when working with hydro-type set-ups.

right on the nail IMO.

How much pee did you give them? Was it diluted by water or just straight on did ya drain your vein in them? I recommend a full clearex flush with ph'd waterjust for a start.
