Magnesium deficiency?

Galactic Guava from Elev8 seeds. Around week 2 of veg. Organic soil in 30gal fabric pot in 5’x5’ with KindLED 750. This past week it’s been kind of wimpy and started showing signs of problems in upper leaves. What do you all think I’m dealing with here?

What kind of water are you giving the plants? Plants need calcium and magnesium to transport important nutrients. You can supplement with Cal Mag if you use filtered water.

I @wyodub

Looks more like a toxicity than a deficiency with the blueish leaves and the paler new growth.

If your growing organically, what kind of soil are you using ? Looks a bit too rich for your plant.

I would not add anything right now since there is already too much nutes in the soil.

As the plant gets bigger, its going to use the excess N (and other nutrients) in the soil and should eventually get healthier.

I would only give it ph adjusted water as for now.

I had the same problem multiple times in the past and plants bounced back as they got more mature and used the excess nutes from the soil.

It's really common when growing organically.

Thank you for that. I am growing in Build A Soil Light soil on my 4th cycle. I do tinker more than I should and have learned less is more. I have gotten soil test the last couple runs and the most recent test before this run was hot. I am doing another soil test soon to try and dial it in further. I took recommended steps they suggested so hopefully I’m getting dialed in closer to optimal levels.

This was my summary of my last soil test results:

Your total available nutrient level is high indicated by high soluble salts. These levels are very
healthy, but it is not recommended to apply many more mineral nutrients until these levels are
reduced a bit.
Your pH is low and can be easily increased with lime or wollastonite.
Soluble phosphorus is elevated, likely from the use of phosphoric acid. These levels are an
environmental concern outdoors. Tissue test to verify micronutrient uptake.

Estimated Soil Solution EC (Full Saturation) = 2.53

Do not apply any more potassium until levels are reduced.

Do not apply any more magnesium until levels are reduced.

Chloride is slightly elevated. Keep an eye on chloride levels to ensure they don't get too high.

Boron is elevated. After harvest, leach excess Boron out of your soil.

you don't mention a pH pen, they are critical to grow high end pot...calmag will green up those clorotic looking leaves...good luck...

high soluble salts

If your salt levels are high, you probably don't want to add calmag. By adding more salts like potassium, calcium, or magnesium you risk locking out absorption of other salts.

Your situation doesn't look very bad to me and I would probably see if it grows out of it. The new growth looks a bit crinkly, which can be a sign of overwatering. I would pay attention to watering and how moist your medium is. It is easy to overwater in a big pot shortly after transfer, when the root system is still developing.

Thank you everyone. When there are so many variables to a newer grower sometimes you just start chasing your tail or overthinking. From my little knowledge your assessment seems most logical. I’ll ride it out and update you all how it goes

looks good to me ! but what do I know ,I only grow outside with all my own collected organics . I see you got some companion lugumes there nice. ! I’m fascinated with these indoor organic living soil grows . If I did it I’d have earth worms and pill bugs to lol

I agree. I love trying to replicate nature the best I can inside the tent. I do have red wigglers in there and have added rove beetles and nematodes to the soil. My goal is to have an outside grow down the road
