Lumatek 400w 120v Ballast

I recently just purchased a new electronic ballast and then installed it to my cab, and after I hooked everything up and turned it on, nothing happened. If anyone has experienced something similar please let me know what to do. My only options as of now are to send it back to the store I bought it from for a replacement. But if I could solve the problem it would save me time and money.

Thanks,
:joint:

Oh I forgot to mention I tried two different bulbs and neither fired up. I tried a Phillips from Home Depot, and a GE bought from online. Both are cheap generic 400w HPS bulbs.

get a sunmaster...blue mh
but, more likely the crappy ballast....phillips is good I heard...who knows!

Did ya really push the cord into the purple box? Sometimes they are a little hard to get a decent contact till they have been used a few times. If that is not the problem, try the reset switch. Still nothing, taker it back to where ya got it and make them plug one in before you leave the store.

Pull the plug(s) ... then squeeze the ends of the pins on the plug - in .. possible you are not making electrical contact

If there are any pins in the plugs .. or on ballast for the plugs .. give them a squeeze too

Let us know if that helped

Is the ballast purple ? ... has 2 buttons in back that push in ? - Only ask to make sure its a brand new model .. if it is .. it will fire .. just needs a tweak

Also before returning something - call the manufacturer - in this case Lumatek direct .. they will always give excellent advice - and very possible sort you out themselves

good drown

i have two 600's and a 400 no problems. i suggest what others said, making sure the plug is pressed in as far as possible. they do take sometimes 30 seconds the first time you power it up, out of the box.

I appreciate all the helpful tips people have been giving, what about taking it into a local shop? Would they be able to test it out for me?

First you should probably look over the replies and respond to some of their questions. Until they have more details they're not going to be able to help you much.
