LST??

Low Stress Training, I'm not an expert by any means, but a friend of mine explained this to me back in the day, although the term LST wasn't really used as far as I can remember.

The idea is to train your plant to bend over, allowing more light to penetrate to the bottom limbs, and causing them to grow upwards. There's a hormone that inhibits growth to the lower buds during flowering, so, if you keep a relatively even height amongst the buds, by keeping the main cola down, and trying to keep all the lower branches around the same height, it'll disperse this hormone differently as it always tries to supply the uppermost bud with the most nutrients and energy.

Like I said, I'm no expert, so if someone has something to add/correct, I won't be butt hurt about it, but I believe that's basically the gist of it. Also, by using LST, you get some really bushy plants, as the plant can be curved around, packing it into half the space, I believe this all has to be started from when it's younger, anyone care to help us out on the time frame as to start this???

you should check out scrogging (screen of green) as well.

Scrogging is putting a piece of fence or net at a height above the plants' pot: so you can let them grow upward then start attaching them to the pre-strung net; it's faster because height is pre-set for you and all you have to do is push a growing tip under a piece of it and it stays.

Basically, a horizontal trellis...

whats scrogging?

ok Ding Ding lol schools in

LST low stress training is where you tie the plants main top down towards the soil and also any side branchs. this opens the whole plant up to maximize your lighting, because of this your rewards will be a bushy monster MIN lte me dig few pics up lol
heres an old mum i flowered she was to tall i tied her main top down

here she is when 1st placed outside

see how she exploded and filled out nicely
here she is when i cut her

heres a dif plant LST'd

ok FIM ****imissedit this method is done to retain a single cola plant but the cut makes the plants cells devide madly thus producing many more bud sites.

heres a grape crush o done multipul FIM's on every main branch was shes in 5 gal grow bag

here it is at chop this method can increase your yield potentional.
Scrog this method is where the plants main growth shoots are supposed to be trained under the screen untill screen is filled to desired capticity.

in the next set of pic are 10 girls in 2 gal grow bags each in a wardrobe cabinit a 400w hps is 30.5 inch above them. this light is old self inclosed ballast now a remote ballast.

madness to this method again to open plant up make all branchs as main colas themselves and increase the yield :) wanna really get nuts lol LST a female plant or clone do multipul FIM every branch and scrogg it. your mind will be blowen as what your results would be if your grow ran smoothly like no problems. well tired time for a smoke :muahaha: g/l on your choice. on my 1st scrogg i done no training and still got 300 grams a very dry smoke i dried it to long lol but was still worth my efforts. all the methods described above allow for a larger possible yield from a smaller count of plants :)

oops heres anothe thing i find myself doing when plants get taller then desired lol

supercropping what i do is gently crush between thumb and forefinger the main inner stems hurd you'll hear it crush. then i gently roll over my index finger the top or branch sometimes i must perform this a few times.
heres a grape krush that this was done on

and 2 blueberry kush

which by the way are still in flower 106 days today lol

method behind this madness is to try n halt upward growth this also forms a knot and thus makes every nug just tad more dense

i think im gona use string and some metal nuts to do my LST
naw gently poke holes in the sides of your containers at any garden store they sell 100 foot roll of twisty tie just pull and cut to length very cheap
1.99$ and reusable. now when i begin LST training i gently pull plants main top down when i feel resistance i stop back off a tad and secure to side of pot. every day i adjust the main top untill desired angel is achieved for me thats 1.5-2 inch off soil. i remove all large leaf matter but leave branchs that may touch soil. the branchs will grow upwards n/p !! i adjust approx every day the main top and side branchs untill thier in finial container and in flower i adjust untill the plant reachs the containers side. then i allow them to grow upward, even in flower i found my self adjusting little to maximize the light to each and every nug !!.

why do you cut large leaf matter? i thought you needed the leaves.

because the leaves that touch the soil run a chance of rotting not to mention the plant wont even notice the leaves gone.

I LST using plant-safe velcro strips. I hot glue a strip around the lip of the bucket, which serves as an anchor for the strips holding the branches down.

It comes on a roll like this so you can cut your own lengths and is pretty cheap/effective...

They make velcro? Sounds nice.

I use this...

Cheap and can be found at any garden center :joint: .

I find 18 guage insulated electrical wire to work the best. I have some serious tension on some of the stems. Here's a pic of 6 plants:

Auxins are one of the main hormones when we talk about LST. Auxin is a greek word which means "to grow." Auxin also is involved in phototropism or the bending of young stems towards the light. It is believed that auxin in the plant tip occurs in higher concentrations on the shaded side which is then transported down causing cells on the shaded side to elongate more. This results in the plant bending towards the light. A similar effect also occurs in the roots. The unequal distribution of auxin to the upper root surface of a horizontal root results in a bending downward or what is called a gravitropism (a movement in response to gravity).
Tropisms are growth in response to stimuli.

Positive tropisms are those in which the plant moves toward the stimulus. For example, positive phototropism refers to bending toward light.

Negative tropisms are movements away from the stimulus. Plant shoots exhibit negative gravitropism because they grow away from gravity.
