If you can't buffer with the soil itself, I would think proper pH down, aka phosphoric acid, would be the best bet for correcting water. But, I'm a DWC guy who fed his backyard plants with pH 9 hose water.

right, got a soil test kit. here is what it shows...
its now day 63 but am gonna have to cut at the latest on day 65. 2 of the plants are showing nice orange trichs but the other two are behind a little. I want to cut them all at the same time so i left the two ready ones to go on slightly.

i have now chopped the lot and given them a bit of a trim. got rid of all the fan leaves but there are still loads of smaller leaves esp nearer the top that are just as covered in crystals as the actual buds. could i get away with keeping those to smoke? also, is an average of 10oC too cold to dry them out?

10C is pretty cold. Id stay between what MR.Meds told you.

will try to warm them up a little but it might be tricky... might have to keep them cold for a week or so the could possibly move them to a warmer spot. will try to get pics too

the final dried and trimmed yield is just under 40gnot too bad for a first grow of 4 plants i think.
the smoke is very good too. good enough to rival anything else around here and that includes some well known varieties!
