lower leaves gettin' white dots

Safety:
Has a "Caution" signal word, which implies reduced risk to applicators and workers. Studies on spinosad show very low impact to mammals, the environment, birds and predatory beneficials. However, spinosad may be toxic to bees. (honey bee LC50 = 11.5 ppm) Applications to areas where bees are actively foraging should be avoided.

Hmmm....wonder if this has anything to do with the honey bees dissappearing?

Hey,

I just had big problems with thrips few months ago, here is how i got rid of them:
- Increase Hygrometry
- Replace the upper part of your compost on 1cm ( lots of larvaes there)
- Use Neem Oil (can be found on ebay) and Garlic in pulverizing, every 5 days.
- clean your box with javel twice a month

If you use pesticides, be sure to use at least two of them, or the thrips will develop a tolerance.

Thrips are the worst thing which can happen to a grower, they are the most diffult bug to remove.
So be sure to stop your grow for a few days after the crop and clean with javel everything. If you don't want to, look for "Amblyseius cucumeris", which is a Thrip killer.

I've inspected my plants with a magnifying glass and I found a couple of these m.fckers, or something that looks just like these

Thrips.jpg

pity I don't have a microscope

I wiped the leaves top and bottom sides with a claw soaked in garlic juice, after that I sprayed the plants with some more garlic+soap solution

where do thrips lay their eggs usually?

How do they get on the leaves?

I was thinking, if they eat the bottom leaves first (at least in my case) that means they are coming from the bottom, so I thought maybe I should smear some of that glue that does not dry that is used on fly strips, this way if the thrips are making their way from the soil up to the leaves they will get stuck, or...?

yes its a good thing to make flytraps i made them too..

I asked on other forums what kind of glue is used on those fly strips, but I guess nobody knows. Kinda a pain in the ass to smear with fly strips, I'd like to get this "special" glue just by it's self.

After getting the population somewhat under control with spraying I highly recommend getting some pirate bugs. They are awesome beneficial insects that work for about anything. The higher the population the harder at work the pirate bugs are. There are many stores online you can order from, I do recommend getting them from the breeding source and not someone that is buying in bulk and turning around selling them.

you guys are killing me...there is but one control for thrips. SPINOSAD!! Discsussion over!!

Pirate bugs are good workers in veg...they won't reproduce in 12/12 so they are a huge waste of money for the flower room.

Please for the love of God...DO NOT SPREAD GLUE ON YOUR LEAVES...bad idea. If you want to be serious about this...use spinosad...if you want to play around...why bother in the first place?

Neem oil...just a preventative IMO. It doesn't kill. If you have them laying eggs and hatching already, Neem is too slow to do much. You are in trouble if you think it's going to save your crop.

WHO THE FUCK IS PLAYING AROUND DUDE?? OF COURSE WE'R SERIOUS ABOUT THIS! i didn't say spread glue on leaves, on the contrary i said be careful don't get the leaves stuck with glue & flytraps were recommended by some growers if u do them properly (it won't cure the problem but help reduce it). i didn't invent this.
No offence dude but If u'r sick of answering noob grower questions, then don't answer... coz evryone was a noob once! even u! & BTW i didn't give any advice since i'm noob i just said 'hey i have that problem too & i'm using this & that'.

I don't have a problem with noobs...I love noobs :headbange I was saying that I have spent lots of time and lots of money trying to get rid of thrips and that I have found a 100% effective control. If you want to bang you head against a wall treating with neem and sticky traps...by all means go for it. :) lol. I was trying to save the noobs some time and money by suggesting the product that ended my battle with the thrips. If you don't want to listen to advice...then don't read my post! Buy neem and sticky traps and good luck

it's gettin hot in here :hotbounce

Of course I will try to get the Spinosad(called Audienz here in Germany). I went to the store today and they did not have it, so I got some neem oil. I diluted the oil and sprayed the plants, almost drowned em in that sh:t. I was not sure about the concentrations cause it says 0,3ml per square meter, square meter of what? Soil or the leaves...
