what kinda shop is it? is it above grade or slab? insulated? if its a wood shop above grade just insulate and use mufflers on all your fans. get a dual hose stand up ac and put a muffler on that too. you should been fine.

16 plants, 5 gallon buckets. trying to fill 5 sq ft area w/ plant matter/mass.

8 1k's hung vertically bare bulb, every 5 feet. this leaves open spot in center for potential 9th light, even if only 400 w, just to keep coverage pattern.

grow mum(s) to produce 6-12" cuttings. root cuttings in 6" pots. 1 transplant to 5 gal buckets after 1-4 weeks of veg.

can veg in same (8k) room for 1-4 weeks, @ 18-20 hrs a day, depending on desires, or ability to veg elsewhere.

use 1 strain. know strain well, so can figure stretch/width growth, etc. begin flowering when plants 18" tall + wide + multi-noded.

should finish w/ 4+ feet wide/tall trees.

no need for xyz+++ plants, just max out w/ minimum #'s.

growing method can be any comfortable w/. would just run 1 strain, 1 big room, 16 big plants. like this:

nice area to work w/. much success in whatever method(s) selected. enjoy your garden!

...lots of 4x8, acoustic insolation for noise reduction.

it on a slab..... it was built as a garage but a garage door was never put in so im just walling it off it has a 48 x 60 window and a 32" door on one wall other then that its a box....

the sound of the a/c is fine it's the fan's/ballast im worryed about

hey pdg thx for the link.... im by far a newbe and have plenty of mom's just looking for idea's on how to go about it.... being summer & where i live bare bulb just wont work i would have to use some sort of cooltube ... acoustic insolation was on the list as well.... this area is just the begning i have a 2nd 25 x 30 right next to it :)

hey anyone got a idea on where to start for skunk control on a room this size... should i go dual can 150's w/ 2 10" fan's just scrubbing?

Decent / good C&C ballasts shouldn't make much noise. Loose components (including loose ballast plates) is what makes magnetic ballasts make noise.

Wall-mount fan noises can be stopped by using enough dense material (i.e. drywall). If you hear too much with one sheet, slap on another and that should take care of things.

Hm, I'm using a similar building, but I only have 50A of 240V juice! Running 8 lights with E&F coco chips, writeup in sig...

Oh, and I use dual CAN150s with a 12" Vortex on each, one blowing out each window. I also use an 8" ozonator (CD style) on a 6" vortex with a can50 as a scrubber/deodorizer rig.

well right now i have 1 20 amp line so u got me beat...lol im renting a trincher friday and laying PIPE i all ready have the sub box & power line ( witch is really 200 amp main line ) but im gonna put a 100 amp brakr on it i was thinking 8 on a flip but then again hung bulbs like pdg said got me thinking to..

well i have to use A/C and make it a seald room so dumping to 12" fans out is not gonna happen thats why i was thinking 2 150's with 10" fans scrubbing then something like a can 50 with a 6-8" fan pouring out the window

Is there a ceiling in this building? Would it be possible, if there is one, to use that?

right now it is all just stud's and siding/roof there is stud's to lay sheetrock on the ceiling.... what would i use it for?

i will get pic's up by the weekend

Looking forward to pics!

Gotta love the freedom of triple-digit amps to work with.

my place now has triple-digit's but no space...... lame

i might take the drive and snap some shot's first thing in the morning i gotta start making a shopping list :yoinks:

What I meant, 00420, by the ceiling question was that if it had a ceiling, rather attic space, is that couldn't you insulate that and help with the noise level you are concerned about. You could store the ballasts up there, etc. Also with an insulated ceiling wouldn't it keep the noise down? Am I way off mark? I admit this sort of thing is way over my head but I was just wondering.

in this imaginary gardener's experience, bare bulbs dont get hotter than hoods/reflectors. have never used cool tubes, so no comment on those.

w/ two 1k's+uvb, get plants ~2-6" away, w/ an ac that is less than optimum (only 8k btu). hoods/reflectors seem to only work as heat sinks. good air circulation solves many issues. should be same calculations: 4k btu per 1k lamp, right?

for odor control, have had good success w/ few ounces of good essential oils and few table spoons of soil moist. soak granules in oil, then add water, mix thoroughly. use kitty liter type tray for large surface area. no odors except those of the oil selected. several of these in different places are effective. 1 8oz jar makes 12 gallons of polymers. place in air flow/by ac intake/in front of/behind fans, etc. can scale it +/- for around 20 coins.

Ah Ok, I'd check out Micro Gro's setup then, if you need a sealed room and only AC (I wouldn't bother with a single 6-8" exhaust fan for the whole room, way too small) but Micro did a cool box in a box for his compressor, so you'd only need an exhaust fan somewhere to shoot THAT heat outside.

Big ups on the trenching and power man, what a job! I am thinking about having a new power wire ran to my room next time I break down (there is a plus side to 6-month inspections!) as well as additional insulation on my ceiling too. It would be nice to have 100 amps out there so I can do a flip flop or a mini split AC.

yes there is "attic" space that i for surely will use for ballast/ducting/fan's ect...
i might end up insulating the roof and ceilingand making the "attic space" a lung/gear room that way the only thing on the floor is plants

thx for that tip i might just use it on top of the scrubber i been running 2k in cooltube's w/ a 8" canfan split into 2 6" line's one for the 2k and one for my scrubber plants can get within a few 1-2" of the glass but i like to keep the and 5-6" away for better light spread

well if i wanna grow here i have to do it.... 1 20 amp is not going to work..lol
i have check out just about every grow on icmag :p including micro's. the reason i was thinking that small of a fan was to just move a lil air out of my lung/gear room but the intake for that will be passave from the flower room then the 2 150's just scrubing in the flower room...

this room is just for flowering i have veg/mom room elsewhere basicly im going to build a room right around the door way in (maybe 4 x 4?) so i can walk in close the outside door then open the door to the flower room

I've read that you can reduce / largely eliminate that rattling noise from older ballasts by bolting down loose components and tightening the laminated metal plates (bolt or C-clamp?).

Sheet metal duct is quieter than flex if you wrap with insulation. Water heater tank blankets work great, they have a nice white plastic shell and it's easy to cut and tape into place. Cover the fan with speckled carpet pad, the ugly multi-colored stuff that has many pieces glued together. I use it on the walls to muffle garage band noise. Best stuff I ever used. A diffuser at the end of the line will help lessen air noise.

seal it good n use the 150's if humidity is no issue you will get by with just 1, id start by putting insulation in there n laying some drywall.. id make a large 16k room with a 5ton unit n just grow tree's in it.. dirty style lol :joint:

i know u said u only got 8k worth of ballast but u n i both know u can grab just a few more lol
