Looking for feedback on this idea to pay for ICMAG to stay here....

most people here LEARNED to grow here or have gained alot of how-to.

Lets just make this easy. Membership to icmag costs one dollar per month or 12 dollars per year.

Bad idea. I would never pay for showing pics of my girls. The internet is free. Free sharing. Pics and beans.
Let sponsors pay for banners. Sponsors would make cash here...

I'd be more than happy to pay a membership fee here, I've learned an amazing amount in these forums and without it I wouldn't be able to grow such great bud!

One time fee, monthly, yearly, whatever it is, I would definitely do it. This site is worth a lot to me, and to lose it would be very unfortunate.

If a membership fee were completely optional, I reckon folks that live here would be glad to pony up some cash for the good of this world. That would keep the site free, and I think that is best, although I would not mind paying. Just give us a bud sticker to show we are good citizens or something.

You could generate a monthly cash flow, simply for adding a small package forwarding service for folks that would like to send others seeds. Have folks send the pkg to be forwarded inside a larger package, then all you have to do is open, put on the correct stickers and remail. Ten bucks a pop would add up, and be a monthly cash generator. I am sure there are down sides, but it is a viable option, sinse you already do a sending activity. You could do five bucks from each side of the send and it would be a bargain and a true service to the world.

And of course if the seed gig is the final decision, I can cover all the chaps in my state that have not had a chance to make enough beans for the rest of their lives, hehe. Reckon I get a kick out of folks getting stoned on my gear.

I have been a member of 3 other sites that honestly cannot compare one bit to this site. I will never visit those sites ever again because all of the flamers, naysayers, and people that think they have to start a E-argurment over any topic. I wish i had found this site sooner and not have wasted hours going through other forums trying to learn stuff, in which all the information was posted by n00bs and totally misleading. The only time i was offended here was when some idiot posted his opinion of a homemade smoking device i made that i wanted to share and he didnt like, but everyone else did, so i deleted it and will only post in the growers and vendors forums now.

I would honestly be willing to pay 20 a year, and donate any crosses just to help because the information i learn't here in such a short period of time is priceless.
Folks like bounty, pontiac, pipedream, sugabear, red greenery.... (i can go on forever thanks everyone who has contributed) made this site so interesting, and i often found myself sitting here for hours on end, day after day, reading 100 page threads. I have like 200 icmag bookmarks lol.

Heres some options:
Maybe make a free version with picture size limits, pm limits, upload limits, post limits, anything that limits the bandwidth, and even throw in little ads here and there ads never bothered me.

Eliminate useless threads, useless forum sections for that matter. (i seen a thread 5 pages long all that had to do with some guy that got "harassed" by his boss, and many other members were using it as it was a instant messenger service)Threads and posts like "bump if your high" seem pointless.

Make a small affordable fee, come on who cannot afford 20 bucks a year! I am on unemployment benefits and id pay way more then 20 a year just to read through the threads and have my questions answered. I saved myself over 500 bucks on my setup just by browsing and buying the best affordable equipment i could find, All the DIY and tutorials, grow journals are priceless.

Like there is 750 members online now, and that is just right now, even 5 bucks a year would help out substantial, with the addition of seed raffles (members only), seed donations it can be done

Maybe even make an online shop that sells things such as bongs, pipes, bubble bags, vapes and give members a small percentage off, but i realize that is harder then it sounds.
whatever you decide to do, i will pay the fee, do whatever it takes, because this site is more valuable then any book ive picked up to read

how about if you donate money, you get a custom title (of the donater's choice) under your name that is highlighted in green like the "guru's"

for example, i think its King Ralph who is the "chat room moderator" (well chat room moderator is in light green and stands out)...

well how about if you actually donate money to ICMAG, you can request a certain title of your choice that will be permanent...

that would be easy to do gypsy if you ask me..

i would pay money to have something in yellow underneath my name...

Maybe a combination small paid membership and seed auctions from quality seeds. It shouldn't be very difficult with this amount of members to help cover the costs of the site. Another idea is members that have special skills might supply things to auction. Printed shirts or sweatshirts would be an idea. Glass blowers might send in a few bowls. Some people can make stashboxes. The list goes on. Maybe some of the people that have special skills could throw in some suggestions on what they can do that's cool.

who's to say someone won't just throw some schwag seeds in a bad and send them in?

i know there are people on here who can make beans who dont have much karma, so judging credibility of genetics through green blocks would be hard in such a case, right?

the guys who are able to donate seeds now are donating them to seedbay.

Do you think if people donated their seeds to icmag over seedbay, would there be some sort of conflict?

if you make that an option, all the real mother fuckers will buy.... eliminate the need for additional inventory... leave the inventory matters @ seedbay...

Look theres no need to start calling people names here. I voiced my opinion without doing that & I'm sure you can do the same. They are asking & looking for feedback and I voiced my opinion. That shouldn't be a problem.

I voiced my opinion and said I liked the idea of donations but I don't like forcing people to pay for a membership. You say a lot of us learned how to grow from here & this is true but if the site is exclusive than you will exclude a lot of people from that very knowledge. If the site had a donation drive & set a yearly goal I think they could easily make it while keeping the site free & available to people like it is now. That should be very important to everyone and most of you already said you're willing to pay anyway, right so whats the difference if you donate it?

My wife just had another idea. A yearly fundraiser of items donated or made by members. Everyone has things kicking around that's in the way that someone else would love to buy at a reasonable price. The glass blowers and shirt/sweatshirt printers got the jump but others can find something laying around to donate. Hunting equipment, fishing equipment, artwork, DVD's, hats, antiques, growing equipment you don't use anymore, cell phones, the list could go on forever. It could be handled the same way public television handles their fundraisers. Have a couple weeks where the items are placed on the site and let members bid for items they want. One persons trash is another persons treasure. Once the goal is met the excess could be used for a drawing for a trip to one of the events inc plane tickets and motel or other things. Bongs, bowls, seeds and other items. It could actually be fun to tell you the truth.

I would pay good money to get this place back to where it was a few years ago...the nonsense posts and off topic threads are out of control these days.

I say less tolerance for bs non mj related threads and posts. That would significantly reduce bandwidth.

then have a members only forum...it will give the serious folks and oasis and would help with the bills.
