hello there :joint:
ok well i rarely see problems with my grow nowa days but ever so often i run into one and need help figuaring out what it is....

growing in soil GH three part flora ferts my suppliments are cal-mag and protect....i do use dimond netar but were passed use that at this time....

here is the problem..

now this is only showing up on the three PB's and the jackhammer, its funny these are the 4 that are packed in the tightest of the bunch....i was hopeing this is what is causeing the problem on the leaves, was hopeing it was just from the leaves overlapping one another and causing mositure....

not sure how far into a grow your supost to use the cal-mag and protect....the does is at 25ml per 5 gallons of water on the cal-mag, the protect is at 12 1/2ml per 5 gallon of water....

does any one know if your suposst to use the protect clean up to the final flush??..as always any help would be great....
thank you :chin:

hello powder :joint:
hummm interesting to be sure i was kinda thinking to much cal-mag, but that was just one thought hate to rush into a cure with out being posative...ummm but i could always just lower the dose of cal-mag down to say 10ml per 5gallons and see if that help...
thanks man :joint:

Looks like a mag problem, what is your runoff PH. I think you have a lockout starting since you said you already add cal/mag.

What is your soil mix. I use guano, bone/blood meal, wormcastings and 35/65 perlite to promix soil. I have a new way of feeding them where I place each pot in a tray so the runoff can be sucked back up by the plant. This lets the plant to use all the soil in the pot not just the bottom half. Which allows me to use square 2 gal pots instead of my old 5 ga. buckets.

hello silly :joint:
do not know the PH of the run off, but if its an over dose of cal-mag and is causing some sort of lock out then there is a large flush about to take place at my pad, get shit back to a base line where i can restart the fert run...
peace :joint:

How much of the each of the 3 part series ferts are you using? You mentioned 5ml gallon cal mag. What is the ph of your soil and what is it? Directions for testing soil ph are in my signature below. Are you adjusting the ph of your fert water after mixing? This is good to do. Where on the plant is the damage occurring ...top or bottom or middle? Are the plants in flower or veg? How big are they? I have to ask cause you only have pictures of leaves. Add any other details to get you a better answer.

hello sproutco :joint:
humm lets see here if i can help you help me, the soil is just wall mart soil its the same kind ive been useing for like two years now moisture control type stuff.....

i'm three weeks into flowering, the plants in Question maxed out at 42"...the fert dosage is 12ml bloom 7ml micro and 3ml gro PER gallon and i mix in 5 gallon amounts so that would be 60/35/15.....ahhh ya bro i always ajust PH after adding in all the ferts and supliments....and also yes 5ml of cal-mag per gallon of water, 1/2 tea spoon of protect per gallon as well.........

i do not think these is a huge problem, and i'm pretty sure a decent flush will get me back on track just looking for some advice from someoine better at problem solving then myself...."NOTE" i usualy flush between vegg and flower but did not do that this run, not sure if thats the reason i may have salt build up causing the lock out perhaps..
thanks bro :chin:

8ml GH Micro 16 ml GH Bloom [per gallon of water], is my guru pH's baseline bloom formula (pH is a person) derived from the Mel Frank targets, which suggest a 100-100-200-60 goal for NPKMG values in bloom Both GH Flora series nutes and the Flora Nova series, achieve Mel Franks targets without additives.
pH's "Lucas Formula" values for 8ml micro, 16ml bloom
n 130
p 106
k 183
Mg 73
You should not need cal mag.

Tip: It might be good every fourth or fifth fert to use potassium nitrate by itself at 1/2 teaspoon per gallon instead of the lucas formula. The 13-0-44 does not contain phosphorus so you give your soil a break and don't overdose p. This would be about 100 n and 270 k. Potassium nitrate is the ingredient in alot of stump removers at hardware stores. Check the package.

jaws bro, i'm wondering if that soil you use has lime added to buffer ph? it still might need more.

I used to see shit like that in flower on leaves before I started adding lime to the mix... but a flush and re-mix never hurts, well, except for your back after lifting all them pots around. :joint:

3part series buffer themselves to a super low Ph, 5.2 or so, great for hydro (water). you need extra lime in the soil using GH 3 part to keep it 6+. (Yes, even in Promix "soil-less")

also... using the strait up Lucas Formula 0g-8m-16b, burns the shit out of plants in soil but is great in water. (heck, even my boy HappyHempHog uses slighty less than 0-8-16 in his waterfarms.... http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=17105)

and I know you got nice buds man, but you NEED to check out the 1 part FloraNova series from GH.... this coming from a former GH 3 part'er!

GL man...

hey stretch how much lime should you add too something like promix that already contains some????

This last run I used just about 2tbsp per gallon of soil mix. Just under 2tbsp to keep things on the lighter side in soil.

I was mixing 30+ gallons of soil...

yeah i found when i added a tablespoon or two of dolomite to fox farm ocean forest, which is already ammended with oyster shell lime, that my runoff was always too high.. up near or above the 7 area. when i use ffof by itself with no extra dolomite i get nice 6-6.5 readings..

so you need to know what you're starting with.

I think the 3 part gh ferts have enough cal mag without having to add cal mag plus or whatever. Too much cal mag can cause a zinc deficiency for example. Or potassium def.

hello there :joint:
ok well here is the soil i use, i have used this brand for about two years now....

ummm i did what i always do when i see a problem, i flushed my three gallon pots with 7 1/2 gallons of plain phed water this morning......

umm like i was saying in the opening post, i dont think this is a big/bad problem just one i needed to correct....i think the flush i did this morning will go along way in getting things back on track....it will however through my feeding off a bit but thats ok i will get it back on track as well...

i want to thank every one who gave adivise and there opinions....
thank you :joint:

You should not get the soil with continuous release ferts that lasts 3 months. This might be better for outdoors with a lot of rain.

JAWS you know better than to use MG brand soil... I used the Expert(cheapy) mix they sell at walmart for many grows with no big problems, but I have been using promix from the hydrostore for the last 4 or so months.
It is much better and well worth the $$ I pay $20 for 3cu ft. It has no chucks of anything in it, just a nice light mix.
