Long ago felony coviction, passport?

So way back in the early 80's, I was convicted of a class B felony, controlled substance. Got probabtion, but fucked up, busted again, misdemeanor pot charge. Got bailed out, and while they were waiting around to decide if they were going to violate me, left the state. Haven't been back, haven't been in any more trouble. But have the parole violation and bail jumping in my record, I'm assuming.
I've been pulled over a few times, apparently I am not on the radar, but I'm wondering if I'm tempting the gods by applying for a passport.

Depends on weather the warrent issued was kept active or not. I've got a non-expiditable warrent that is over 20yrs old that I'm occasionally harrassed about. Its because that States Govenor keeps pencil whipping old outdated warrents in hopes of collecting revenue. As far as coming up on FED radar don't know but if there is any record you can bet its somewhere and can be found if they want to. Hope you can get a definite answer cause I'd like a passport too.

I wouldn't worry about it

most local warrents aren't sent out to other states, let alone the feds

but then again, if you work and pay taxes they know where you are anyways. Hell if you have a debit card they know where you are. So if you have been safe so far, just keep thinking good thoughts and keep on living

can you explain how another country has access to your felony records? is that part of your passport info?
that is crazy, bt then again I do not know!!!
i would like to apply for a passport since i live near a border and am curious as to how or why they border guards would know. thanks if you can address this.:tiphat:

If your issued a passport no other country is going to know anything about your felony. Here in the USA if you got a warrant out for your arrest you will not get a passport. They only way this would ever happen is if you where never put into the system but I find that unlikely if you get harassed about it in other states.

If you are moving to a diferant country thats A whole new ball game. They will do a criminal background check on you to get your visa...

As part of the current legal system I'd say don't press your luck(fuck the system hate that I am goin through troubles).. Courts, and cops suck if it does bite u in the ass.... Unless u r prepared to handle your past, deal with it, pay $ for it, and then get ur passport... Which u may just get it without any of that... But also at the same time I'd be prepared for that... Gov needs their $$$$, even if ur charges are dropped and everything I'm sure they at least have a little fee they want u to catch up on...

i married Canadian...so i cross the border often...
i know for a fact sum us citizens... have been detained @ the border and denied access for there previous drug convictions stating that kind of outside element is not allowed in Canada...I'm pretty sure now a days w/ homeland security and the tightened US borders that there is a plethora of info being shared between the US and both our neighbors....
that's always been one of uncle sams bargaining tools.....info and services...
hell even as u approach the border{ on both sides} the camera's have already scanned U'r auto's plate numbers and have CURRENT info on that car and owner right in front of EACH and every border guard / cross station....NO-shit

Specifically, what years did these infractions go down? You've definitely not done yourself any favors with multiple busts and fleeing a state charge. Having said that, passport is a Federal game...and they aren't always clued in at the local level (but more so every day). That's why I ask about the timing. Anyway, sounds as if you are going to be dancing; no matter what. Good Luck.

I received a felony in the state of California for cultivation. Part of the condition of sentencing was to stay in my county till the probation was up. To make a long story short, I was working in the medical scene in CO (while on probation) when everybody and their mother was too, found my self in the town of Grand Junction, walked into the post office and applied for my passport, a few weeks later I received it in the mail. Now remind you, I was never suppose to be out there, and never had any problems getting it in the mail, hope this help. Good luck getting your passport.

Its been suggested to me to contact that States SA and work out a money deal to expunge the charges but $$ is nonexsitent. As long as I don't go there nothing they can do, just sucks that everytime the plates get read that pops up.
Guess I'll hope their Gov gets writers cramp when mines in front of him next time.

You can get it. Felons can get passports easily.
It's when you go to leave the country that you will get popped.
Happened to a very good acquaintance a few years ago. 2009 his felony was in 1983
for sales of boomers in Cali.

You are hot, extremely, and they will get you eventually. Def not off the radar.
Like I mentioned it's when you go to leave or re enter the USA that fucks you in the ass.
Have Fun

Few years back got detained crossing into Canada becouse I'd forgot to sign my passport. Custom agents ask if I had ever been arrested and I told them no. She turns around and asks me if I'm sure and was I arrested in 1977 for pot. I had completely forgot that I was busted for less than 1/4 oz and was fined $400 This was when I was 17 years old and never thought anyone would remember.Told her it was so long ago that I had realy forgot and I was very sorry. She then asked if I had any pot on me, I said no and she said have a nice vacation and sent me on my way. Lucky they did'nt search me had an oz in me pants. FUCK THE PATRIOT ACT how esle would Canadians know if I was arrested 35 years ago.

Well, I've had several background checks for employment and spent 6 years in the military and did'nt show up. So all of a sudden it's on my record? How much has the gov. spent "protecting us" and inputting every little thing into a data base thats open to a foreign gov. "One world order" makes Orwell's 1986 look fucking pleasant.
