Local marijuana busts

R

Relik

So I was just reading the local newspapaer (only newspaper we have here anyways) and there was an article (2 in fact) about some recent busts on the island. Most people here grow outdoors.

The first one was a young guy who had about 50 plants, they don't give much details, but he told the cops he loves gardening lol.

The second one is a 1300 plants bust! :yoinks: The grow was spotted by an army helicopter that was flying in the mountains. Next to the article you can see a pic where a few military guys stand proud next to 2m vegging plants.

We rarely see big busts here, the biggest I remember was 2 years ago with more than 4000 plants. Surprisingly, justice is pretty cool here, I've never seen anyone get more than 5 years for growing 500+ plants, and if it's for personal use, you'll usually get away with a big fine and probation. However if they find lots of seeds at your place, they can think you're a commercial grower, even if you're just trying to preserve some good genes for personal use...

In my state 5 years is the max for anything less than 1,000 plants, and your likely to get out on parole in 1 year if you don't have a history.

In Maine 99 plants is a fine.

lol where do u guys live. thats pretty sweet. anyone kno wut the penalty in cali is. i bet they fuk u in the ass in cali.

No way, Cali is even better than my state, only state better than Cali is Maine.

I saw an episode of "LAPD Life On the Beat" don't know if you ever watched it, but the dude got caught with 178 plants, and he got probation.

If I lived in Cali I would easily double my plant numbers without hesitation.

Don't know what would happen if I was caught growing here in England, I only have 3 plants tho, and they might all be male!

My brother is up in court in a few weeks though, he was working for some's front buisness, the guy had a warehouse full of plants. My brother knew about it but had nothing to do with that side of things. My brother had all his computers and bongs siezed. The guy is probably going to go down, we are all hoping like anything that my brother gets off with a slapped wrist... :(

I've heard that about Maine, it keeps looking better & better to me every year :D
Evlme's right, FL will stuff the government shlong deep up the hind end if you toke/grow & get caught. Anywhere outside of FL has to be a kinder state to live in than FL to tokers.....Ok, maybe aside from a choice few other totalitarian states.

Wolf & I are looking into moving to Alaska within a year (if not sooner) We're curious as to how similar to Maine Alaska regards smoking herb & growing it. I.E, how bud-friendly is it up there?

Nokuy, buddy, any info?? We'd appreciate it...

why is it all the really cold states are lax on weed :badday: it sucks!
Eh, when you grow up in the tropics like me, a drastic change of scenery, drastic change of climate becoming more & more appealing for some reason :D
Maybe us folks that feel that appeal are just nuts, I don't know.

I don't live in the USA guys, I'm on a French island near Australia. We basically have the same legislation as France, but there are some laws that are different.

If local justice had to punish everyone that carries/grows/deals herb, at least half the population would be locked up. The only reason they aren't punishing severely is because the courts are already flooded with all kinds of different cases. Plus, smoking weed is a local habit down here. A recent study showed that 2 out of 3 teenagers smoke weed at least once a month or something like that.

The average quantity when you buy herb from someone in the street is about an oz for $50. The street quality tends to be medium nowadays, but a couple years ago you could get some dank for that price. But important police raids have compromised the street market. You can still find excellent herb at unbeatable price when you drive deep in the bush. But nothing beats homegrown! :joint:

Florida sucks for another reason... it's one of 3 states that you can't mail spores (of the psilocybin kind) to. The other ones are Georgia and (I think) California?

nikijad,

i was born and raised in alaska.want to go back so bad but need to get some stuff taken care of first. you used to be able to have a qp in your house and it was legal. then dictator murkowski changed the law, after the aclu sued him the ak supreme court ruled you could have 2 oz.s at home. i'm not sure how this affects growing and plant #s. it is upheld in the state constituition that right to privacy aloows small possesion. now if the feds wanted to they could prosecute. get outside of anchorage and you well be fine. i grew up in the mat-su valley were mtf came from. i have personally never had the real thing alhtough everyone likes to say they got it. but the local weed is primo if you have a connection. a buddy i grew up with got busted about 6 years ago with 900 plants indoors and got a fine and 3 years probation. i think he spent 48 hours in jail. he is now clear and back to growing again. anchorage has one of the most diverse populations in the country per capita something like 90 different languages spoken there. but like we say anchorage is 30 minutes from alaska

Pot aside, it looks like a fantastic place up there--other than some beyond frigid cold snaps in the winter, lol. I spent a good deal of time last night looking over as much as possible, trying to compare cost of living there to here (turns out to be quite a bit cheaper) and it seems that wages are a hell of a lot better than they are here.

I crunched numbers for Wolf last night, and figured 3 months worth of average rent, food & utilities would be wise, possible lodging while looking to rent, figured the milage & gas costs for a u-haul or the like, lodging along the way, etc, etc. Considering everything that goes into a long trek like that (over 4500 miles) I came up with a figure of $10,000 (roughly) to get up there at the most, $7000 at the least. Both the high end & lower end figures were over-estimated, but it's better to hit the road with a little too much than not enough.
