I put whole aloe leaf in a jug and use an immersion blender (a regular blender would work) I feel the skin probably has something I want too (silica? correct me if I am wrong)

Aloe grows pretty quick in a pot indoors. Find a sunny window and put it in a big clay pot. I wouldn't rely on bottled aloe juice as my main source when it grows so easily.

I pour all my sprays through a gold screen reusable coffee filter that sits into a funnel. It also works for kief. I rinse the filter into my watering bucket so I get the ground organic matter into my soil.

The Introduction to Sustainability course given free by the University of Illinois starts tomorrow at Coursera. org

Free learnin.
These type of programs are invaluable if for no other reason than to meet others interested in this area and then share sources, methods, etc.

Can't beat free!

I bought several aloe plants when I started reading this thread.
My first time using aloe gel from them was this morning, mixed with potassium silicate to treat PM on my squash vines.

My sprayer kept clogging, and after about ten times unclogging, I poured out my solution and cleaned my sprayer.

The problem was bits of aloe gel clogging the sprayer.

Questions:

1. Does this happen with bottled gel, such as Lily of the Desert?
2. Does anyone here strain their aloe gel, fresh or bottled?

thanks in advance

I take my fresh aloe, blend to a purée and strain. Then mix it with my other items.....(neem and silicone ...thanks CC)

Oh hell yeah that certificate's getting framed! Guess there's gonna be a lotta pot growers in that course!

Here's a free permaculture course on iTunes from UNC (I think): http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Browse/ncsu.edu

EDIT: replaced bad link

This subject is of vital importance, seeking as it does to uncover the principles of the long-term welfare of all the peoples of the planet. As sustainability is a cross-disciplinary field of study, this foundation requires intellectual breadth: as I describe it in the class text, understanding our motivations requires the humanities, measuring the challenges of sustainability requires knowledge of the sciences (both natural and social), and building solutions requires technical insight into systems (such as provided by engineering, planning, and management).

agriculture is a part of it.

This question may get laughed at, but I am always learning. I was wondering if its good to see fungus growing on the surface of your soil?

Thanks

If you want a sprayer which will last for years and years and is impossible to clog then you want a concrete sprayer like the Chapin Model 1949

The brass wand has an ID of 0.25" and the way that the nozzles fit allows for immediate removal of any foreign materials. This is not a syphon sprayer - when you finish the inside of the tank is empty.

It comes with 2 nozzles that spray in a V-shape - 0.50 GPM and 1.00 GPM and there are several other after-market nozzles you can purchase.

Nice - as low as 70-80 bucks in a few spots online
That's crazy cheap! I think the MSRP is $129.99 or close. I paid around $100.00 at a concrete supply company up in PDX and thought I got a good deal.

The only non-metal part is that black strap on the side that holds the brass wand and the knobs that you see are there to hold the different nozzles that are available.
