it has plenty of P and probably other stuff, but maybe there's a reason it isn't used in gardening, allelopathy or something?

i think probably because it's a shallow rooted annual, and most plants used as ferts tend to be legumes (nitrogen fixers) or deep rooted like dandelion, comfrey etc.

it would be a great green manure i guess, eat as much as you like over winter and then dig the rest in come spring.

i like limnanthes douglasii (poached egg plant ) as a green manure, because it overwinters well and is easy to dig in. i like to leave a few plants along the edges to flower in spring as they are fantastic for attracting beneficial insects

The pelletized amendments that you mentioned and some others that I've looked at from England - I could make so much money off of products like that. Comfrey, kelp & alfalfa in various combinations and it's ready to use?

Way too slick!

lamb Q
a wonderful companion & fodder for many..(worms,rabbits,chicks,cows,etc)
i also like to believe LQ helps mycorrhizae network with other rhizospheres, closer to topsoil.. like with seedlings, ground covers and what not..being its high in P

plants all have different root profiles so imho LQ planted with other mid,to deep rooting plants(interplant, guilds, cover crop ect) makes for a very very active diverse bioaccumilating flora & micro fauna..

Imagine how easy it would be to mix a potting soil with these pellets. One of the choices has alfalfa, kelp and comfrey in 1 pellet.

A cup of these pellets, a few cups of Basalt and your neem meal and you're done. Finished.

Yep - I could definitely make bank with a couple ocean containers of these pellets. The problem is that England is a huge trading partner with the US but agricultural products aren't part of the mix. It's mostly consumer goods, grocery items, machinery - the things that make money for buyer & seller. Not much room for profits with dried plant material - LOL

Hmmm...I dunno...I think I would prefer imagining I'm having calcium issues...that's more popular.

Honestly and seriously though,I ditched my ph meter over 3 years ago and it was the best decsion of my life.

5 gallon buckets...hitting them with the Tibetan purple barley bubbled teas with Agsil 16 added in the res from here on out. I wonder if they will ask for anything more like a topdress or fish/kelp tea....we'll see here in about 4 weeks. If so they will only need one fish/kelp tea followed by an ACT on the next watering. Or maybe a fish/kelp/neem/ewc topdress mixed at something like 1 part ewc,1/2 part fish,1/2 part neem seed meal,1 part kelp......topdress at about 1 tablespoon per pot....followed by an ACT.

cootz all you need is some kind of hash press and make your own... you have comfrey so dry it and pressit surely it would work the same..lol

thanks gas,

when you say fish/kelp tea, do you mean fish hydrolysate or fish meal?

Fish meal...the 'organic' stuff. Pretty much done with bottles...it's amazing when I stop and realize that.

awesome. now that you have the agisil 16 you probably only shop for bulbs at the dro store... that rules!

when i went to buy my Organic Gem fish hydrolysate they asked me to bring my own bottle. i thought that was pretty cool. i use the stuff in teas, and to pre soak my char and soil mix. any industry relating to plants outside of the hydro store realm is refreshing. i don't feel like i need to do battle with the retailers of my organic amendments.

If someone gives me a bottle of fish I'll use it. In fact the last bottle of fish I used was gifted to me.

I get cases of bulbs online..it' cheaper. The things I end up going to the dro store for are things like Pro-tekt,lamp/ballast parts, and dumb things you can't find at garden centers like 8ft. long zippers made for tents and instant doors in panda plastic walls...
