Yeah I'll ask them if it has any fillers or anything, crossing my fingers cause this is the best price I've found so far with shipping..should I ask if it comes from acadian seaplants or if it did would it say it on the bag?

It will say on the bag if it's from Acadian Seaplants or not. Please post your findings....

I would send them an email for clarification but I'm 99% sure that this is actual kelp meal with a really goofy description......

CC

Note the word 'granulated' in the description. Hard to tell for certain from the photo but it does not look like kelp meal and that would be an awful cheap price.

I left them a message hopefully they get back to me...sounds a little too good to be true but hoping its legit kelp meal cause none of the feed stores around me carry this stuff..

I scrape out the 'gel' and feed that to the worms - great material to add. The white 'shell' should be chopped up and you can add that to your compost pile. I try and remove as much of the gel as possible.

I had a couple of questions for you about the neem meal that you purchased:
I pay about $1.80 per lb. for neem or karanja meals when buying a full bag - how does that compare to your pricing?

Are you able to find neem oil?
Thanks!

CC

Hey there fellas! Have either of you, or anybody else for that matter tried out the neem products from NeemTreeFarms? (here is a link to neem cake they sell http://neemtreefarms.com/neem-cake-p-368.html ) When searching for neem products and especially cake I found them and sent the owner a message asking whether their cake is organic, she told me she gets it from a company called "Jungle Growth" whose products are labeled as "natural". That term is a bit flexible so I sent the owner a message to confirm the quality but havent heard back yet. The owner of NTF said that the cake came from tree grown in Africa and was produced naturally, to the best of her knowledge. At $35 for a 20lb bag with shipping included it would be a good deal for someone in the states, provided it is indeed organic. The neem oil they sell is labeled as being wildcrafted and free of pesticide, heavy metal and aflotoxin residues, the price for that is $90 per gallon before shipping.

Love be with you all:)

I paid £8.80 for 2.5 kg.Which will last me ages so I didnt mind paying that delivery as 5.95 So I ordered my kelp with the same order to save on delivery charges is 5.95 for as much stuff as you want any weigth...The kelp was £7.95 for 2 kg..

It was the only neem product they had. I've seen Neem oil on Ebay before but where I live it's hard to find organic meals.. fish blood and bone. bone meal and grow more 7/7/7 and chicken manure pellets is about all I can source from the shops near me.. I'm now going to go pet at home.(our pet smart) and try get some alfalfa pellets tho..

EDIT Neem works out at 1.60 per Lb... without delivry

W89- I might have missed this little tidbit so Im asking; was this a website you ordered your neem cake, etc from? If so could you share that please:)

I've used their neem oil as well as a couple of other botanical products that they sell unrelated to neem.

Highly recommended - both the company as well as the staff. They are a great source for neem saplings and they pack their plants very well for shipping, i.e. it will arrive ready to plant - you won't have to try and 'fix' anything.

A pleasure to do business with on every level.

Coming from you CC, that is reassuring; in the time that I have talked to you and read your posts I think it would be safe to say that you have a very low tolerance for nonsense and I respect that!! Based on your recommendation I believe I will give their oil and cake a go. The cake that KIS sells sounds fantastic( its from Ahimsa right? ) and I would have gotten that ( $90 a bag is a good deal, but thats before shipping isnt it? ) but NTF is a little lower and closer to me too, so weyenot? ah thats a bit cheezy:).... I do believe I will be getting some rock dust from KIS though, the Basalt and Glacial; I will be getting some granite dust soon but I think it would be good to diversify some and at that price for those two items its the best I have found

KIS sells the products from Ahimsa and what makes them a good option is they can fill orders of any size that you need whereas Ahimsa has either 5 lb. bags or full bags. The other deal with KIS is that while their web site isn't completed yet, they have almost any soil amendment you could come up with and everything is at the 'good dude price' deal.

I used to recommend Neem Tree Farms and I just forget to but you can buy and use their products with full confidence.

Diversity is always good and granite, basalt and glacial would be a great mix! The Basalt that KIS carries is from the Redmond Basin near Bend (over), Oregon and the glacial rock dust is out of western British Columbia. The Basalt rock dust is a fairly new product from Cascade Minerals - about a year ago is when it arrived on the scene.

Good mix!

Oooh, I had a feeling thats where you hail from, at the moment Im here surviving in the states; whos to say about the future though, the world is a big place and Im curious. I gave the site a look and it looks like you have some good products within your reach, especially those comfrey/kelp pellets, mmmm thats awesome brother:)

I was first inspired to use that mix by you CC, your experience has a nice authentic taste to it:) The soil mix I currently have is "a little bit o everything" with things like kelp, bone, blood, feather meals, dolo, azomite, argonite, in a base of FF ocean forest/EWC/perlite. The mix is over a year old and Ive been working my way through it ( I made alot, even for what Im doing!) and I am down to about 200gallons of the original mix and about 400 gallons of used mix. So far I have added some hydroton and MJ leaves (which have already broken down) to the used bit in addition to all the roots/stalks that are there. I plan to reammend with neem/alfalfa/fish meals and some of the rock dust mix, keeping it simple and I think that should do it!! Oh and if I have it at the time of mixing I will add some fresh comfrey/nettles on top to decompose which I can work in later:)

Thank you for so much inspiration CC, and everyone else too. This is the real deal!!

Any good Canadian links for products? I live where it's hard to get much of anything.

Here's a couple for you to consider:

Acadian Seaplants, Ltd. (ASL) - largest processor of kelp in the world. That's what we use in the states and they're located in Nova Scotia

Gaia Green - Grand Forks, BC - they own the Canadian Glacial Rock Dust deal. They also pack a number of soil amendments that you can review at their web site as well as the retail stores across Canada which carry their products

And of course Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss - Premier Horticulture & Sun Gro Horticulture are the two main brands exported to the states. Alaska Peat out of Northern Alberta is the product that I use as well as Premier Peat Moss (Premier Horticulture)

Oh and of course some good EWC and compost, plus some lava rock! No more premixed silliness; Im thankful to be at this point, now onward to whatever is next:)
