Light Rails with air cooled hoods ? What to do with Ducting?

I bought some air cooled hood because of heat issues, and still had to buy an AC unit , go figure.
Anyways i want to get some light rails, but i am having a hard time imagining the ducting moving back and forth while the light moves.

Is there some kinda bungee string or something to keep the Ducting from falling onto the tops of the plants ?

Thanks
Take care

I have seen people do exactly what you describe, use enough flex duct to let it move back and forth, and support the middle slack on string or bungee cords, just to keep it from sagging down into the plants.

I think the slickest I have seen is using the tracks for window drapes - you can typically find them at the hardware store, or dePOT. What I do is just strategically place my filter / light rail... check out my r-DWC thread....hope it helps... Good Luck :smoker:

It's not as easy as it looks, but it can work well with some fine tuning.

I ran 6 lights on a Light Rail 5, 2 rows of 3 lights ducted inline, two 8" fans pulling. It absolutely kicked ass, but not without some pain-in-the-ass adjustment sessions.

Problem is that if you push, the ducts will want to inflate to their full length and in particular resist compacting; pull (and your fan is powerful enough), and the ducts coil up and shrink... possibly sending the trolley off-track. I know it sounds hard / impossible to do looking at a LR5 track construction, but believe me an imbalance can easily be caused from ducts pulling and stretching.

Another issue to keep out for once you get the duct lengths and center locations worked out, is to make sure to shift / rotate the duct when raising or lowering the light, since the coils will form a different angle at different heights. Not sure if this makes sense, but you'll see what I mean when you run into it.
