HELL YEAH!!! You got some damn good ones up there.
Randy Rhoads died when the airplane he was in clipped the tour bus Ozzy was in, and then hit a mansion. He was identified by the jewelry he wore, because no other part of him was recognizable.

And Kirk Hammet was almost killed instead of Cliff Burton, him and Cliff were arguing about who got to stay in what bunk.

And we all know about SRV taking Clapton's ride, so yeah....God (Clapton) himself dodged the bullet.

Buddy Holley (Holly on the albums). Tragedy to the extreme. The day the music died.

When Fela Kuti died over one million people showed up to his funeral. I don't know of any musician who was that missed.

I'd be hard pressed to find anyone who influenced music all over the world as much as James Brown.

Then we cannot forget Trane, Byrd, Miles, Mingus, Son House, Sun Ra, Don Cherry, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and Charley Patton.

I really tried to come up with someone who wasn't of african descent and more who weren't originally from the souther u.s but its hard.

My, how can it be that no one mentioned Robert Nesta Marley ! His influence went much beyond music and still today !

Yeah mriko, I think you're right he has been more missed than Fela Kuti but not by too much. Both men had a huge impact on the world.
