Seems the 315 watt kit from www.gel-usa.com is $419 a piece, which comes w/ ceramatek ballast, phillips mastercolor cdm-t elite agro bulb, and a mogul to the bulb's two-pin socket converter, which comes to be about $1.33/watt. You need to use your existing ballast housing and also your existing mogul socket..

Rives may I ask what you yielded, what the strain was, what the medium was, etc.? Forgive me if there's a grow log on here that I'm missing. Anyway, that's a great result in that you beat your ES330, and congrats on your grow.

I haven't done any grow logs on here.

This run was Purple Crack, which is a sativa-dominant clone-only found in NorCal. There were 5 plants, 2 of which really should have been culled out. I had been working on my cloning (fucking low wintertime humidity!) and these were a group that took but had a couple of weak ones. I can't seem to get myself to toss out plants - I keep hoping that they'll catch up. Anyhow, the total yield from this batch was 277 grams - three plants were between 70-80 grams apiece for a total of 230, and the remaining two made up 47 grams between them. This strain is not what I would consider a high-yielding one, and the buds aren't nearly as dense as some with less sativa characteristics. My last run with the 315 was over a couple of Sweet Tooth girls, and they each yielded a shade over 5 ozs each.

The previous best with this strain had been with an ES330 and (2) 55w PL-L lamps, one on each side of the Lumi to fill out the footprint over a 4-plant scrog. That run yielded 280 grams under 440w total.

Both runs were done with Botanicare ReadyGro Aeromix, 3-gallon Air-Pots, V+B, & Blumats. The ES330 run was really dialed in, with the scrog working like it should. This run was a series of afterthoughts with too much other shit going on - I basically tossed them in the tent and peeked in on them occasionally.

This is some Tsi Fly that just came down today. It should be interesting to see the results - it is a much denser plants -

Nice. The Tsi Fly in particular is beautiful. If you're getting over 0.6 gpw, you're doing pretty well in my book, especially for horizontal grows w/ little management and using soil (smart idea w/ blumats and the aeration mix).

Inexpensive way to create humidity

Pond fogger (pet stores/WM etc...)+ timer + RH meter + small vessel

Must use < 300ppm water or the damn ceramic disc will quickly die

The Philips ballast version can be put together a little cheaper. Advanced Tech lighting has a package going with the ballast, a mogul socket and a mogul version of the lamp available for $220/each, with prices declining for higher quantities. I don't know anything about the mogul version of the lamp, it's pretty new. Advanced sells the ballast alone for $195, but doesn't show a quantity break.

I paid about $14 each for the PGZ18 sockets from Mitronics with a minimum order of 10, and the lamps seem to be running around $85 from a variety of suppliers.

Before you got too wild with a bunch of them, I would buy one setup and see if it is really what you want and if it is adaptable to your style of growing.

Thanks. The problem here is that, even with low wintertime humidity, it still condenses on all the windows and likes to create mold. While increasing the rh levels come with some benefits, it also creates problems.

>rives: hallo, did you try to measure the power consumption of Philips CDM Elite 315 & ballast together? And what about some 'grow results' w/g, comparing with some LED light with some comparable power input? Thanks for info, this light seems to be very interesting! :]

And about humidity, I've the same problem, room 3x3x2.7m, to keep humidity inside the box (1x1x2m) at ~60% I must waterspray girls inside twice a day, but outside the box I have dehumidifier (10L/day, don't buy anything 'weaker'), it's the only way how to avoid mold on walls ..

Consider a 1-2g sprayer (Lowes/HD- ~ $10) buy beauty shop grade 30% H2O2 (~ $11/g), dilute to ~ 10% and spray the condensation

LED emitter update

My long intuitive position that mj needs a full spectrum, not just RB has been validated on another grow site by a most led light learned soul. Been following him for a few years, and he too is now in my camp, but with proof

All our girls need spectrum-wise is simple NW + WW, which are also more color stable than monochrome emitters

Of course the quality of the emitters matters

Ratio is

~ 3:1 during veg
~ 1:2 early
flower
~ 1:4 after bud set

Personally, I think more WW is needed AFTER buds set

Ballast losses add 26 watts to the 315, for a total of 341. The Lumigrow ES330 is the closest LED fixture that I've seen, but it won't cover the same area and required supplemental light. I'm haven't been trying to do comparative grows, it just worked out that I had done grows with that equipment and had the results.

Thanks for info! I've greenbox 1x1m (3x3ft), in this moment there is cheap 450W light (epistar diodes..), do you think that for this space it will be 'notable improvement'? :]

Yes, I do.

I recently spoke with someone who is convinced that new 100watt LED diodes are going to revolutionize the LED lighting market in the coming years.

IMO, too point source oriented.

I think 5 x 20w would work better- more even distribution

Yes, I will, probably next grow round, because I just switched the box from veg to bloom two days ago and I don't know, when I'll receive this combo.
Till today I have only mail from PayPal, no response from Advanced Technology Solutions, even mail or any confirmation ;] ..

Isn't the problem with the Phillips ballasts, though, that the bulbs don't last nearly as long? Or are both electronic and are able to make the life of the bulbs on par with HID?

Correct. GEL advertises a much longer lamp life and a marginally higher light output. It might be worthwhile to call Cycloptics and talk to Flip (the owner) - they've been offering the ballast as part of their system for a while now and he should have some solid information on them. Figuring the ROI to you might also be helpful - the lamps are supposed to last twice as long, but are you really going to run them that much longer? The cost difference would pay for roughly 3 lamps......

That is one factor that rarely gets mentioned with LEDS - properly designed, they have a very, very long life. With the advances in their technology, what percentage of users actually take advantage of that increased lifespan before replacing them?

Interesting point .. what do you think how long will be these Philips lights in "usable condition"? In description on ATS there is info abut 20.000 hrs avg. lifespan, but I'm afraid that this is their "wishful thinking" only :] ..
