Wow, just wow
Any idea on what contributes to leaves that size aside from genetics? My leaves dont get near the size same cut.

Well she is sitting under a 1Kw Solarmax vert parabolic at the recommended height. Also they are sharing a 200gal kiddy pool for the four of them, perhaps they are smarter than any of us think and know they have 200gal to work with. Otherwise I just can't explain it because I have shoved two lights up the ass of plants and never seen leaves like that.

In my experience, it's at least 90% genetics. The rest is related to where the best spots are for light and how the plant is shaded, and with having zero defoliation done. Defoliation results in a lot of tiny leaves (which is more efficient but not as pretty.)

The plant will maximize the size of a specific leaf as long as that spot has a lot of light. I noticed if a plant is in the corner of my tray and it's shaded, it will shoot out a fan leaf with a 6-10" petiole across the canopy to catch enough light, and when it does, begins to increase the size of that leaf to catch even more light.

Ive noticed it seems to happen when ya feed them heavy. I had the same thing going when I was feeding @1200 PPM. Also I have a local friend that has got some crazy large leafs when feeding heavy.

Great thread Hydro, I have a 11 blade Northern Lights x Big Bud fan leaf from my first grow in a frame. Ill try to find it and get a pic of her for the thread. Peace, pot and karma. One Love:ying:

I just want to focus on OneLove's statement about feeding. These plants are huge!!!!!!!!!!! Do we have data on how best to veg them? I know that the ones I photoed were supper high PPM for veg 1600 and the like, but I want to know what others see.

Sorry for being so drunk ;)

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Capt.Cheeze1 again.

:)

Which strain is that cheese?

I'm starting to get bigger fan leaves than are typical on my PK and the difference is the plants are getting more phosphorus and potassium than usual.

Blue Moon Rocks from seed..I've noticed that seed plants tend to kick out the bigazz leaves before I start cutting them up into hundreds of clones. I have had them put the big leaves out again if they get a decent veg time before flower.
Here's another just for fun....

Thank you for this thread!

Thank you for this thread!

.

What a wonderful variety I'm seeing! Thank you very much for starting this thread!

I am only a new thumb at this :gaga:, but I'm becomming greener all the time as my understanding of this beautiful plant increases thanks to forums such as IC :)

:plant grow:

I was struck by how nice these plants turned out after 3-4 weeks under four ordinary cool white 26w cfl's. The photo below shows the two (ultimately male and the best one chosen for pollen) whose symetry and nine-finger leafs impressed me:

The unfortunate male, at dawn:
