What's new

Laugh...go ahead...but I want to know.

Ok, I'm gonna just ask. Laugh if you will.
What are these new terms(new to me anyway):
"mids" (I am guessing that means "ok quality"), but how does one determine that?

Dank(obvously that is "superior quality")---what is the criteria?

And "Schwag"...(meaning stems & seeds I guess) what I used to get all the time in highschool (a "LID" to be exact) and it worked for me then.

I don't buy anything from anyone. If I don't grow it myself(which I just did), well, I just get it from other "old timers"(good friends).

And it always gets me where I want to be.

I suppose I need to be enlightened. I'm just not groovey or hip anymore. :badday:
Thanks for the help. :joint:

Yeah, I kinda agree with wishbone. It's sort of a matter of opinion.
To me, schwag is mostly pressed brick. It can be seedy, but not always. It can really good, or not. You sometimes hear this called Reggie's weed, just the regular stuff.
Middies usually refers to better quality than schwag. What I call mids usually isn't pressed, has little to no seeds, and may even smell kinda funky, but still isn't quite dank enough to call heady nugget.
But like wishbone said, no set guidelines. The stuff that alot of people I know will call mids is total trash to me. Just a matter of opinion.

I've smoked Mids (Seeds/Outdoor) that have been better than Beasters (Dense/Chemical/Seedless).

I've also smoked Schwag or Regs (Mexi/Brick/Seeds/Seeds/Seeds) that has been better than Beasters.

Play it safe and stick to the Dank (Seedless/Indoor or Outdoor/High Quality)

Or just mush it all together and call it Marijuana.

You guys aren't alone, I hear it, I get what they mean when they are used but, I don't think I've ever used any of those terms.

The term "schwag" is used to describe the crap that advertisers give away. Key chains, bottle openers, and other assorted cheap shit. It's fitting the word is used for low grade herb.

I can see where the term "mids" would come about from mid-grade herb.

The "dank" thing I have never used, never heard used by my friends, and have no idea what started it. The term actually means "unpleasantly moist or wet"

Ok then. Now I don't feel so "out of the loop".
And frankly, I think 'dank' is an inappropiate term for the 'good stuff'. Too me that means moist and/or mouldy (and I know that is not what the young peeps are talking about).
Sheesh!
"Good shit" should be the all around term used if one likes it. Again, that it just my opinion!
Thanks for all the insight.

While your edjumacting yourself look up beasters, I just found out this is the stuff I see all the time. I don't have to buy it most of the time but on occasion times are rough. I know a lot of people who consider it to be "fire" lol.

Let me explain things in the best and most concise manner.
These terms are used EVERYDAY here in the big city and suburbs...
And even other lingo I've heard which wasn't listed...

Schwag is a loose-term for pot that's "not worth it's weight in piss"... Herb that has been severely mis-treated and smushed together, most of the time with lots and lots of seeds and stems, very rarely are the buds manicured, people refer to it as mexi-brick, dirt weed, schwag, reggie, and most of the times can be found floating around some of the older people that are not as blessed and educated or connected as those here at IC are. These schwag buds usually have lots of seeds, and the color of the buds are usually darker green to brown (due to age, compression, and tons of fan leaves that were left on the pot before it was all smashed together. Usually schwag is CHEAP or FREE, running from 20 - 60 dollars an oz. here. The smell is not very strong, and usually resembles the smell of hay or a very chlorophyll-ish green smell...

Mids (aka mid, mid-grade, or middies) usually are more of a lighter green color, but can be dark as well... Mids are known to have a smaller amount of seeds within the buds, making the bud primarily consist of nugget instead of seeds (such as schwag)... Mids usually have some orangish to brown hairs on them, usually have a pretty decent trichome coverage... smoke great if flushed well, some mids smoke bad though... but I must agree, I have smoked "mids" that were a HELL of a lot better than beasters... Mids usually have some kind of skunky smell to them... Mids usually cost between 70 - 110 dollars an oz depending on your source...

Beasters are also called "dank" by the unknowing crowd... because it doesn't have any seeds and usually has pretty dense buds that smell like hay or grass.... It is a cash crop of commercially grown herb from British Columbia... trichome coverage is usually better than mids... but smell and taste are not there... stone is not there sometimes as well.... many times it seems chemicals are left in the pot and it has not been flushed, causing a very charred bowl of black harsh smoke halfway through the bowl,,, The beasters are really just a money maker here, as they all come from Canada and are bought cheap and sold high... as "DANK" usually.... also called KB, or kind bud, be we all know what REAL kind bud is... beware the word dank people.... it's usually used to push beasters... aka the beast... aka bc bud... Beasters are a waste of money IMO... I'd rather have mids that smoked better... and were a lot cheaper...

Headies are the kindest of buds, aka heads, nuggets, primo, the funk, nugs... no need to explain what great pot is or looks like...

Hope this helps you...

LOL.......
right! that's the way to endear yourself in the 'Old Stoners Crash Pad'. Schwag is usually what young/early stoners get until THEY become more blessed, educated, & connected as the years go on regardless of what websites we hang our hats at, imo. :joint:

50+ & them young stoners only WISH they could get what I puff on every day. I've seen and tasted (& turned it down for purchase btw) their weed & it can't compare to mine, of course any scenario is possible.

I always thought of Dank as stinky or strong smelling,..

Anyone remember the old skunk bud around the early 80's could be noticed 10 feet away in someones pocket! :joint:

Bruja, I feel for you. I went into a head shop on my recent visit to Canada and after talking to the 20-something guy there for a while felt really old and out of touch. I hardly understood a word he was saying, and it wasn't just his accent (ay). Other than what I grow and smoke myself, and read here, I too have little contact with the latest slang.

I guess it's just the kids these days, what with their rock and/or roll music and hipster slang. An old dude like me just can't keep up with those hep cats and their groovy drug scene. Nome sayin? My advice: turn on, tune in, and drop out.

Hey Tony~
I don't mind the slang so much. What bothers me is when I feel like there is a certain lack of respect. I mean WTF? Weed is weed, and I been smokin' it longer than any of those snot nosed 20 year olds.
Yes, yes, there are many out there that don't have the 'you are old and know nothing' attitude, but so many these days are lacking simple common courtesy.

Ah well! Now I am "educated"---where as before(according to one poster I was not) so now I feel "all smarted up". Humphf.
All I needed was a simple explaination(and most posters gave it to me nicely).

Now I sound old and bitchy. Oh well, in the words of Delores Claiborne:"Sometimes being a bitch is all a woman has to hold onto". :cuss:

Thanks for the input, see ya 'round the forums.

wtf

wtf

Mind if I chime in?

I am confused about language these days too.

I love language and so am more precise than some about it, not always, but sometimes.

But why do people spell 'the' as 'tha' now?

What is bling? really?

is it just gaudy jewelry?

Where did 'dank' come from? when did it go from 'the kind" or killer to dank?

What is 'timber'?

Why do regular white people use expressions that are clearly 'ebonics'?

Why do people who have probably not had a lot of 'street' experience use so much 'street'?

when did I become so un-cool?

I remember our teachers, parents, and older people saying the same thing about our language when I was in High School though.

It was almost a code for us, we took language, which was a tool of the 'establishment' and made it OUR OWN.

But its funny, I now complain about younger people the way older people complained about me.

I have become those older people.

LIFE IS A CIRCLE.

No kidding Southwind!
Life IS indeed a circle. And I am now one of those "old farts" I used to think were really out of touch.

Ah well....I'm still cool in my own mind.
