largest seeds

Hello,

Which variety produces the largest seeds? I want to use the seeds in some different vegetarian recipes, ex hummus falafel possible tahini type stuffs!

I just figured I need to produce fewer big seeds than many small seeds!! haha

Fist off, welcome to the boards!

I may be wrong on this but I think a rule of thumb is that an indica will create mush larger seeds than a pure sativa.

The largest seeds that I have personally seen are those of the strain Lowryder. I'm not sure if it is the ruderalis in it or what, but they produce some large seed for sure.

Just as a heads up, the mods/admin may move this thread, I am not sure if it belongs in the breeders forum...no biggie, just FYI

I have heard about russian "cross" of giant reed and hemp/cannabis strain which produce much larger seeds than normal seeds.

Here is article of it in german language what I dont understand.

Sorry for a little offtopic above. Largest seeds I have seen is from Nirvana's K2 and on some crosses what descendant from those..

I think I read somewhere on here that if you only pollinate part of the plant it'll have bigger seeds than if the whole plant is pollinated. I could be wrong though...I'm pretty stoned right now . Good ol wake n bake.

maybe in YOUR country this is true (siberia?)

but i have never once bought, or made, a seed indo
that was larger than the average outdoor seed

outdoors makes big seeds
indoor-made seed is runtier

for once, thou he is rough round the edges.... I have to agree with CJ..... indoor lights produce a maximum of 4,000 candles......... the sun under any direct sunlight enviornment will recieve in the ranges of 60,000 candles....... theres just no contest...... the sun has far more energy for seed production than any HID or professional indoor setup..... most likely you are just seeing the results of open pollenation vs. selective...... just my o2......

Biggest seeds I've ever seen were "Mexican Sativa" from a medical place... Those were freakin' huge!

Thats great info from everyone! Seems that there is no one "biggest seed" strain? I grow outdoors in an equatorial region. I may try something from mexico!

Some mexicans produce smaller seed if they have some columbian influence like acapulco gold. But the oaxacan and michoacans can be monsters esp if they have some indica like schwag seeds still haven't seen many bigger than those big unmottled dark grey mexi schwag. Too bad schwag seeds are grown and packaged with godknowswhat because it would be a shame to waste energy and risk growing bud just to eat the seeds. Guess you could sieve it first to make hash then eat the seed. But anyway stick with mexican hybrids, can't go wrong. Another thing is seed traits are mostly determined by the mother although the pollen donor is supposed to play a role in the traits of the seed itself.

I have many Thai seeds from bagweed here. i have grown them out a few times, however 90% of the time they go hermie! These seeds are also quite small. For me its not a big deal to separate the seeds as I am cutting up the herb for smoking purposes. It is hard to get a lot this way. I may start sieving and use for hash as this would be less time consuming than picking through the buds!

Cool! Thanks for the heads-up on Deep Chunk. I know the thai that I grow can be very seedy, the seed like i said are quite tiny. What could I do? anythoughts on crossing a thai to deep chunk? (has that been done???)

I crossed NL5 x Haze from SSB with Arjans Haze#2 from GH seeds and created 4300 beautiful, very large seeds from one plant. OP himself said they were some of the largest he had ever seen. These seeds go for sale on seedbay when it re-opens. I have no current pics and lost many on OG but check out these seeds.

I didn't feel a need to rename 2 well known strains. The work was done before me, i selected my best boys and girls and lets 2 male arjans go in a room full of different strains. The cross was done for my tastes not really to sell but i had so many......well you know.

Don't quote me on this because i have no idea where i obtained this info....but....
Hemp, as in rope/fiber plants, definately have the largest seeds. If you go buy a package of shelled hemp seed, you can tell that the seeds were absolutely huge. These also must contain no thc so my thoughts were they were definately Hemp based.

As far as I know all Cannabis seeds contain zero THC!
