43 days flowering now...just flew back from Toronto.
Was gone a couple weeks but mrs. bog has a green thumb and my neem oil treatment before leaving worked well. The 2 demo sour bubble clones are now at 43 days flowering and the elevated transplant looks healthier and did all along. In the first pic you see that it is still pretty dark green leaved despite being in clearing for 8 days already.
In the second pic you can see the leaves of the double potted one are getting paler but the plant is doing very well. Sour Bubble clones have very tight and heavy buds so plants like this yield better than they look in the end. There is little bud shrinkage during cure but of course there is some.
This clone type never needs more than 53 days but I may take these at 50 as they can become harsh if taken too long. It really is a 7 week flowering strain and the closer pics shown last are all at 43 days flowering. I took these pics when I returned and now they are on day 46 of flowering. The buds since these pics have just gotten frostier so watch for the finish of this thread for harvest weights and comparisions.
My impression is that the wider double potted plant could have used deeper lower soil but in order to make the amounts of soil the same it was kinda thin and tended to dry out a bit too fast. Perhaps there is no big advantage to the sleeves but in reality the thing that matters is how nice a root system has grown and can continue to grow in flowering. Soma agrees that continued rooting in flowering is needed for optimal yields in soil.

The pics with the bluish shade are off on the color but pics 2,3 and 4 of the sour bubble 1st bx buds look actual and much like the clone buds shown earlier in fact. BOG
The damned spider mites have plagued me for some time but I have them under control now and hopefully I will get rid of them entirely soon. Sour Bubble clones are hard to stop actually and quite resistant to the buggers but late in flowering they can appear if not entirely gone.
These plants will yield well however. The double potted plant has more lower buddage that is hard to see now but it will be evident that even though the elevated transplant was healthier the extra branching from the wider root system will increase the yield. BOG
As usual the double potted plant yields more but normally I just elevate step transplant in stages. My results are here for you to see and to try for yourselves actually. I have nothing to prove with either method as a matter of fact. My double potting and step elevated transplanting have been done by myself and demonstrated over a period of years now.
Here are the 2 plants in this demo with the elevated step transplanted clone on the left. Clearing occurred faster with the double potted plant and it will yield more as these plants are finishing now. After day 52 they go into the dark for 48 hours and no water. This will help draw the starches out of the buds and allow a last resining time to occur before the chop. BOG
I have the little mite bastards now. I think I got rid of most of them by spraying each plant individually in the washtub with a hard spraying...a little too hard this time..,but they(plants) will live, and sprayed them with a pepper spray. Do you think 4 large habenero peppers with seeds, blended in 2 1qt of water will kill them or just piss them off? Sorry for the off topic question.
I have been using shults fungicide which is actually a mitacide as well which uses neem oil as the active ingredient. It seems to do little damage and if stopped by week 4 of flowering there is no effect on the buds. Similar principle Kedei but you may have to keep at it some. Eventually they should leave your grow and remember to never bring a plant from outside into your indoor room. BOG
I too made that mistake.
I had to have a friend mind my ladies as I had so many issues at once. I got several cuttings from him and thought everything was fine.
After several weeks I notice everything slowed down.....blah blah...you know the rest.
I must don my stormtrooper hook-up and whoop their little spydee asses.
Thanks for the feedback. Good luck on yours as well. kedei
Bog question for ya... I have some Shutlz here and was going to do a preventitve spray on my my Sourbubbs 2.5s. I've been working out in the veggie garden alot and am a little worried about carrying something indoors. I see no signs of mite infestation now but thought it might be a good idea to juice these one time. I never spray anything on my plants and have actually never had mites before in many grows. So whaddya think, preventitive spray now or wait for first signs, if any? The ladies are on day 20 of 12/12. Honestly, I would prefer not to spray.... so I guess I am looking to understand if using the shutlz will have any neg effect on the plants?
Schultz fungicide is not harmful and in fact I saw it as helpful somehow even on plants that had no visible problems. I spray it from the underside but try to avoid getting a lot on the big fan leaves on the upper plant in the best light. Use just enough to wet most of the plants undersides and I doubt you will see any damage.
As a preventative it is probably a good idea because if mites get started they are very difficult to get rid of completely. I had never had them before until I brought in a tomato plant last fall. That one mistake has cost me a lot but mites can be managed like all pests and diseases.
The fungicide also helps prevent mold so if you have had that problem I see no reason not to use it in early flower or in veg. BOG
quite interesting thanks for experiementing.
I think this would have some interesting implications for an outdoor crop as you are vegging your clones to grow some monsters. On a smaller scale would this make any difference, ie saying you flowering at 8-12" not 36"
I don't know if you've tried this yet for the mites but its a good trick from an agro buddy of mine, place about a 2" layer of sand at the bottom of your pots before repotting seems to help inhibit infestation somehow
Is the Sourbubble bx2 a slow germin plant?..I planted 6 and 4 poped...
I also planted some BD and punabudder...there is a huge diff in size and growth..
is there something this plant likes to get started?..
THIS IS THE SOURBUBBLE BX2
THESE ARE THE BUBBLEDUST AND PB ALL PLANTED THE SAME DAY
Also you thread is very interesting...i hear you on the roots liking the air...
Have you heard of rootmaker pots?...seems they are designed to do the same thing in a way.....the goal is to create tap roots..i have been using them...but i cant compair anything cause i have not grown the same strain in different pots to compair..my friend says he has almost got 30# more weight off the havest with these....rootmaker.com
What you think?
Nice gear issack i see what your growing now(very nice )...just get that generator & man ya got a show ! Peace all & thanks for some more tip's BOG 3ld
