Large Plants: hollow or not to hollow ?

Is there a point where plants get too big to effectively prune out their shaded centers? Its 7/20 now, by the end of august i expect to be overwhelmed with new growth.

I would definitely LST them to get some air and light to the middle.
Prunning the middle is the next best option in my opinion.

If you flower that dense of a plant you risk molds in a still-air day.

How long did you veg these monsters?

LST means low stress training. Those bitches are huge, you should definitely cut out anything that's not getting light unless you want to make hash or wax or your left with smaller airy buds that are a pain in the ass to trim. And what Asslinger said will create better airflow through the plant and reduce the risk of mold.

Gotcha. Not sure how LST will help me thin out the centers. I noticed last year most of the inner shaded growth died off by harvest.

Did you do any type of training to them?

Yes sir. I top them when they reach 1ft, and then I super crop them by breaking branches creating 90 degree bends whenever the canopy looks uneven. I'm also a big fan of bending small plants over, tying the top to the base of the plant.

It's not easy. Get what you can around the bottoms and up a bit near the centers. Past that, most of the inside growth can be left to harden up after your tops are cut. At least that's how I do it. Very nice garden btw.

They get a tea on 2x per week, and a light synthetic feed 1x per week.

Thank you man. The native earth has been improved over the years. I used to grow in large pots and spill out the soil after every season, so the mounds had a lot of room. 180 degree sprayers placed around the edges worked pretty well. I would come through and handwater around the trunk and later in the season, between the mounds. Healthiest plants I've ever grown..way better than the 400 gallon smarties and trenches I've also done.
