Lapps got a problem with coco

Once again, you really needd to do more research before you start handing out misinformation. You really need to get a book and read, I don't really care if you believe me, facts are facts. Do your homework because you honestly have no clue, I am totally done with you, people like you are very quickly exposed, lol

Ok guys, quit fighting here right now!!! ..or there were not going to be presents for you next xmas..:sasmokin:

I've had a lot of information here, but a lot of it has really been offtopic and nothing constructive.. Why are you guys playing here like children?

There have been some valuable information here and I have noticed that, and I thank all those people for that.. :) Actually seems like I have to thank everyone here because of some good points ;) But since there have been such an arguement here, I'd like to know who's right.. So some links to that information would be nice, even thought it's offtopic, cause everyone here seems to agree with mg problem..

I'd like to ask you if it's ok to just add some epsom salt or do I really need to get some cal/mag?? :)

peace out!!:pimp3:

As a quick fix you should mix up about a teaspoon of epsom salts and foliar feed the plants. If you are going to add epsom salts to the medium you really should balance that with calcium because they kind of push each others ions out of solution making them unavailable to your plants, hence adding Mg in coco can start to lock out calcium.

After foliar feeding you may want to try raising you Ph a bit just to see if it helps with the problem, also if possible lower N as this is another problematic positive ion in coco. Think of it this way:
Coco specific nutes basically add extra calcium and Mg, while lowering N,and K. You can do these things yourself by lowering K, N and raising Ca and Mg.

I hope this helps bro, sorry for getting off topic, it wasn't my intention, I just wanted you to know that if coco is not treated right then your results will not be what you expected, but if you get everything dialed in then you will fall madly in love with coco coir, lol...

Also you want to water coco everyday, it acts as more of a hydro medium and does not like to be dried out like soil or peat does, you have to treat it like hydro and keep it moist, because of coco's air holding ability, overwatering is not really a huge concern.

Good luck, I would also suggest you not take my word/advice but to research what I am saying yourself. A good place to start is with the stickies in the coco section.

You mean like people who say things like mg gets locked out at 5.7 pH and below?
Hydro guys regularly run at 5.5-6.0. Mg gets restricted at 5.4 and lower. That said, I like to keep my pH in coco at 5.8-6.2+.

OP~ Since you use GH products, why not try a little FloraNectar. It has Mg, S, and K. I find I don't need the extra Ca, but extra Mg and K are good for coco.
You seem to not know what the lockouts are. Here is some info for you from Stitches sticky in the infirmary:

Soil

Magnesium gets locked out of soil growing at ph levels of 2.0-6.4
Magnesium is absorbed best in soil at a ph level of 6.5-9.1 . (Wouldn’t recommend having a ph of over 7.0 in soil) anything out of the ranges listed will contribute to a Magnesium deficiency.

Hydro and Soil less Mediums

Magnesium gets locked out of Hydro and Soil less Mediums at ph levels of 2.0-5.7
Magnesium is absorbed best in Hydro and Soil less Mediums at ph levels of 5.8-9.1
(Wouldn’t recommend having a ph over 6.5 in hydro and soil less mediums.) Best range for hydro and soil less mediums is 5.0 to 6.0. Anything out of the ranges listed will contribute to a Magnesium deficiency.

EDIT: I see that Mass already posted this. I love it when dudes talk smack and have no idea what they are talking about. pH is one of the first things you learn about growing. I don't appreciate comments like this when I just spent 18 hours today in the infirmary helping people. It's people like yourself that run good growers out of the infirmary because they have to deal with all this bull. Before you question my knowledge do some research. I didn't roll through here on the small bus.
