Landraces

I have been doing some reading lately on landraces. It seems that there are a lot of unknown landraces all over the world, some with very high potency. What is the most unknown landrace?

are there still a lot of plants in this world where we dont know about?

i have heared some great stuff about some of them , with fantastic stories, like this guy from Iran. I would like to hear more.

Most unknow landrace ? Probably that one nobody has heheh... Want some whic are "unknown" to the cannabis community ? Go Siberia, Taklamakan, Kazakhstan, Daghestan, Chechnya (whole caucasus), NorthEast India. So many places with landraces asking to be revealed to the world !

Here a few ones from Pakistan, India, Mongolia.

moppel, if you can, you must go to both countries, peru and bolivia.
if you can only do one, perhaps peru is a better option if we consider that it is
a bigger country with a wider range of climates, more people and closer to the equator.
good luck man, take pictures and show us when u get back.
peace.

I will hopefully get to work on a bolivian landrace from cochabamba soon. From what I've been told bolivians have much similarity to guerreran oaxacan and michoacan varieties which I love. Luiz has a skunky peruvian landrace but I haven't heard much about it. I'm sure there's some great finds in both countries. Bolivia has very high uv levels and strains from most of the bolivian highlands have to be able to withstand cold temps. Anything you find in either country would probably be very interesting

@mriko, thanks for those pics, nice plants. You planted them from seed, i suppose? where did you get those?

@paz, i wont be able to travel through the country , i will only go 5 or 6 days , i think. Where should i go? big city? small villages? For sure i will make pics IF i go.

@zamalito, would it be easy to speak with growers there? you know people there? and also ...where should i go?

Yup, all grown from seeds I have collected myself in India and Pakistan. Except #1, which I traded for other seeds, and #2-#3, which were shot in Pakistan's Hunza valley.

Laws are very tough in Cuba. I had read some years ago an article, maybe was in High Times. The travelling writer had pretty hard times scoring something and very few growers were quite inexperienced.
Still, there's some rasta community which has started showing up during mid-90s. Most of ganja in Cuba is from Jamaica actually, and most probably those who grow are doing so from Jamaican seeds.

regarding landraces - the reality on the ground is always more diverse than the talk suggests

good landraces are almost always also cultivars, to a greater or lesser extent -

on tjhe ground, one grower in the village may be growing something quite obviously different from the guy down the road, or in the next village up by the hills etc. ... yet the cultivars will belong within that landrace gene pool

I think a lot of people who haven't travelled imagine thing to be more homogenised than they are

genetically, cannabis is working to diversify (and thereby adapt) - human interaction has surely tended to add to diversity, despite the moden indoor growers preoccupation with IBLs
