The problem is, we all have that little judgemental part of your psyche, which makes us want to inflict pain of those who we feel "deserve" it.
That's why guys smack their girlfriends/wives around. That's why guys get their ass beaten in barfights (the alcohol helps, too).
I've worked in enough environments with a pervasive culture where people are actively looking to judge someone and find an excuse to kick their butt.
You're right, it does cause violence, fear and uncertainty among those in such an environment; ask anyone living in Europe in the last 2000 years who were subject to the Inquisition or any of the myriad of religious purges, which were caused by one religion judging the "righteousness" of another religion.
You must understand: people are well within their rights to judge others. I mean, if you didn't judge who Charles Manson is, and disregarded his past, then you could possibly let him into your house if he asked you. That is an example of why it is important to judge others (it's hyperbole to illustrate my point).
I mean, if nobody judged anybody, there would be no incentive to do good works, in terms of how other people interact with you...God may have different plans in store for bad people, however.
I'm drunk and rambling, but I hope you see the point: In order to have a working society, it is important to judge others. Otherwise, one would be stripping themselves of a basic defensive tool they can use to avoid interacting with those who would harm them.
Anyway, the more I read about Lady Sovereign, the more I'm conviced I love her.
