Yeah the plants not bad but what about my cabbages:dance:
Looking like things are amping up your end too budsnblunts and I’ve been doing preventative sprays for quite a while myself. I moved away from Beaurdeaux sprays a lot of years ago and now I focus more on plant health with resistant genetics like the Blackdogs. I still like growing different genetics to keep the search going for “the one” and to grow different expressions of our beautiful plant.
So l put together a few photos for you all today, the first one is of Biovortex’s Blackdog starting to stack properly now with resin production really kicking in too.
The next is of the Ancient OGf5 on track to finish around the second week of August. I know these are supposed to bud explosively so maybe they’ll come in a bit earlier....we’ll see.
Third is of a Jagerschnitzel x AOGf4 male that had some really beautiful clusters. This plant has the second tightest male floral clusters I’ve ever seen and l believe it comes through the Jagerschnitzel line bred by Bradley Danks.
The final two are of the Jagerschnitzel x AOGf4 and the plant itself is over ten feet now. The other is of seeded buds that look like they might just lean towards the golf ball pheno and will probably finish nice and early, in fact Schrews told me the mother was a seven week strain, which is what Bradley is breeding for and in fact she seems to have tamed the Ancient without loosing vigour, I’m really liking this cross here.
As for the weather it’s been hot and humid and recently we’ve had some rain and showers. Hopefully we can keep the heat without the rain for a few more weeks.
Good luck for the next few weeks budsnblunts we’re almost there.

Hey everyone. It’s interesting to compare the photos of the plants just 10 days ago. Things are blowing up now and I’ve heard the Ancient OG lines described as explosive budders but so far they’ve got nothing on the Blackdog’s. There’s a bit of something fungal creaping in and not even the Dogs are immune; l’d appreciate any ideas as to what you think this stuff is👍
I’ve taken my finger off the trigger with preventitave foiliar sprays believing the plants should be able to ride out the next couple of weeks but l was wrong. The weather’s been really warm with above average temperatures of a day and night. We’ve had heavy dews and showers and this has obviously been the conduit for infection. Having said this, acceptable losses are still well below worrying and raising the defcon level and overall plant health is still on point.
The first photo is of the Jagerschnitzel x AOGf4, it’s about 10 feet tall and is starting to stack. You might notice the stretchy material has been swallowed up by the plant and it has been through some really strong wind events. I posted a photo and a bit of a description over at the “Share your Guerrilla tips thread”. It reminds me a lot of the 5gs red in the way it appears at this stage and has obviously thrown to the AOG side because of the golf balls. There is a bit of a problem though.
Here’s an example of just how this fungal infection takes hold. It’s starting to infiltrate the smaller buds on the plant and the one thing l can guarantee is that this is now covering the plant, even if it hasn’t manifested yet.
The best thing about this plant is that the node spacing and therefore buds, are quite far apart and infection seems to be isolated to these buds so far. Hopefully the fungal sprays today will be able to contain it. I should say for the record, at this point, that the AOGF5 and Project are as yet untouched by this even although l can guarantee it’s on both plants and in the air.
This one is a close up of a seeded bud on the same plant.
Next is a bit of a close up of a crown bud on one of the Blackdog’s. These are really starting to put on weight now and it really is incredible how fast they stack.
The photo in the next post (buggered the photos up but the up side is you get a bonus Blackdog close up) of how it’s infiltrated the dense structure of the Blackdog. This also shows the resin development within the flower, it’s prolific and quite beautiful.
Here’s two photos of how this infection effects other flowers. One is a marigold and the other is a thai basil.
And lastly that one or two mandatory plants that just up and die on us every year......bloody root rot.

Hey 40degsouth, sorry to see your battling fungal problems. I am too.. all though it hasn't rained here in about a month, I grow in a swamp and the mornings are really wet with due. I also stopped the preventative spraying a few weeks back and regret as the mold started a couple weeks after th last spray. So I was back at it today but this time with a weak mix of baking soda to spray the plants very lightly and where i have removed any bud rot. I have been really impressed with flowering this season, the plants really did just bulk up out of nowhere. Love your pictures man, that garden of yours is really beautiful.

Hey Budsnblunts, how’s things??
Love the look of your Kiwi Kush, the node spacing suggests she throws some good spears.?? Fresian Dew’s one that I’ve looked at many times and would love to run one day because of its resistance and ability to finish in our climate.
The botrytis got away early this year and the plants that were going through bud swell on the last full moon have been the worst effected. I was told once that botrytis germinates on a full moon and it would seem to be the case this year with even the Blackdogs suffering, it’s been the worst year l can remember. Of course it didn’t help with two weeks of showers, heavy dews and virtually no sun in conjunction with unseasonal hot and humid day and night temperatures. In fact, Antarctica has just been hit with unprecedented heat waves and l guess we’re not that far away.
l’m kicking myself now that l took sulphur out of the rotation this year but l thought my efforts to prevent the leaf spot disease would translate through to end of season but not the case. This is the first year in the last five that I’ve actually managed to beat this soul destroying pathogen.
I’ve recently found a bulk supply of 50% hydrogen peroxide so I’ve been spraying the plants down every afternoon, once the sun is off the plants, in an attempt to fix the problem and as a bit of an experiment to find killing/preventative measures. So far 20ml to four litres is doing the job without harming pistils but I’m going to find the maximum dose in the next couple of weeks. This is going to be a total game changer for my IPM and waterings/feedings.
The first three photos are of the Blackdog’s stacking and showing resin starting to develop, now the overnight temperatures are starting to fall below 10 degrees C. These plants are only just starting to purple and some haven’t started at all, very unusual.
the full plant is six feet tall and eight feet wide, planted as a one foot clone on the first of December.
The last photo is of the Ancient Og Project starting to do her thing. She has a really difficult terp profile to describe but the best l can do is, red rose with a hint of sweet skunk.
We’ve got good weather for another week so that’s another week closer.
Cheers,
40.

Here’s that late summer budsnblunts, the weather’s been warm here. It’s been a really interesting season for me beating the leaf spot disease only to have a botrytis outbreak. The vineyards all around me are extremely worried about this year’s vintage.
A couple of ladder pictures that you liked. The AOG Project has shown outstanding resistance so far. Another 7-10 days and l think she’ll be entering the harvest window. The F5 has shown a bit of botrytis on early buds but I’ve taken a leaf out of your book and sprayed some bi-carb at one desert spoon per litre. I do have some green cure but I’ve found this a bit hard on flowers.
Last is a selection of (Blackdog x Golden Tiger) bx1
The floral structure is really unique but not quite what l’m looking for. I’ve done some in-crosses with her to see how they turn out but we might not be seeing her again.

Here is some of the biggest buds off one of my beloved Blackdogs. This plant was a one foot clone on the 1st of December and ended up a bit over six feet tall. They are in two litre bottles; l would of put more up but l ran out of vases. This pheno pops up frequently in a 10 pack and honestly they’re all winners. If you can get these girls dialed in they chunk.
People have asked me, “why Blackdogs??” Well here’s the answer in one thousand words.

Hey budsnblunts👍🥳🍻
looks like we’ve both done well and I must say I’m glad this season’s over, it was a real tough one and although I can’t really say l beat it, I certainly didn’t loose either.
Anyway, seeds have been made, mother’s have been taken and two or three cuts to torture over winter to see if they deserve a run next spring.
Thanks for letting me piggyback on your thread and as a final photo the culmination of this year’s work finished Blackdog buds. I’m hoping the next one can be “Growing in a Drought Year” to make it so much easier for me😉😉
Thanks Budsnblunts, it’s been swell but the swelling’s gone down.
Cheers,

Does New Zealand have any public smoking events or places ?

Like Hippie Hill or Valencia Park in SF.

So if you visit NZ you can go there and share the Ganja. Without having to jump through some Official loophole.

Hey St. Phatty,
I really hope your season’s shaping up to be a good one, it’s starting to get cold and the snow’s showed up here now.
Where l am, there isn’t anywhere you can openly share a joint. We have had cannabis political parties start up and the odd public rally where people “stick it to the man” by demonstrating open defiance, without an officer in sight. We’ve also had a heavily regulated medical grow start up in the last few years, of 25,000 plants (that patients have to be nearly dead to access) and a burgeoning hemp industry.
Things are changing but change happens slowly around these parts as there’s still just the right mix of mis information with systemic bias and ignorance. Because of these reasons the community is still fractured, secretive and insecure and outsiders are treated with a healthy amount of suspicion.
So in answer to your question, not that I know of but if you’re cool enough and ask the right question to the right person you’re sure to be able to sample someone’s hard work.
Cheers,
40.

Been very humid and rainy on the East coast of Oz. I am indoor but been battling 95% humidity and running a dehumidifyer in the tent. Can't run it all the time due to heat. Even than I have lost a bit to rot. I normally don't grow indicas but have a couple. We normally are getting dry cool days now but instead just constant showers.

If I was outdoor I would have lost anything that wasn't mould proof. Good luck in a la nina season.

I would describe the US as extremely fractured socially & economically.

But pot-wise, one of the things growers do is to Gift their neighbors bud.

Since there are no laws restricting Gifting.

So it's no un-common for people to just give their neighbor and ounce or a quarter or a big branch off a plant.

I would like to see a cafe open up with deep enough pockets backing it and the right attitude, so people can light up, and it's well ventilated. Deep pockets because once County Health or the Police decide to interfere, I would want to see "it" (the freedom to smoke in public) contested all the way to the Supreme Court.

It's rather ridiculous that it's legal to smoke tobacco socially but not Cannabis, with the proper tools, e.g. water pipe.

I don’t think we’d get to many arguments about outdated, dickension laws designed to marginalise people and subversively support black market transactions and the ability for big pharmaceutical companies to manipulate prices and access of OUR plant.
The crazy thing is that people all over the world are being incarcerated because of mandatory sentencing, worst case scenario and the creation of mum and dad criminals because they’ve been turned in by a nosy neighbour.
The debate over legalisation is one we need to have in order to create thoughtful, responsible legislation to protect people’s rights and access to the plant. It’s been absolutely wonderful for me to watch the Californian industry unfold but I think we can all see the pitfalls and greed it has also created and big corporations driving down prices in order to extinguish competition from smaller growers just so they can put them back up once they have a majority share of the market.
One of the things I’m most afraid of here is that big pharma will be supported at the top government level through nepotism and back handed deals and our community will be totally circumvented and not even given the opportunity to create a market industry, to not only help people create jobs but the country and justice system as well.
It is totally illegal to grow and gift cannabis to anyone where l am; I have heard of such things happening though.....naughty people.
Get off the soapbox,
40.
