Ky outdoor auto grow? Need some help

Hey guys, i'm running a few plots guerilla style here in the South East Ky Appalachians as of now, have around 19 plots out. I have never really ran any autoflowers, which is what this post is my concern. I am fixing to order 40 feminized autos and run them all outdoor in probably 3 to 4 gallon containers, will be able to water when needed. I figure if I have them germinated and true leaves showing by August 1st then I can finish them off. I personally have never grown an auto flowering strain.

We don't get our first frost till around November 1st through the 10th. So that should give me plenty of time to finish them off.

But, I do have concerns about this grow. For one, I know people usually choose autos for indoors or for Northern climate grows with lots of day length hours. Here the day length hours are currently 14 hours and 18 minutes. By August 15th they will be around 13 and half hours. Is this going to pose a problem?

I am located at 36 latitude far East Ky.

Really in my brainstorm about doing a late run I found three options.

1) Order autoflower seeds and have them sprouted by August 1st. Keep them under 24 or 18/6 lighting for the first two weeks, then move to the outdoors around mid August.

2) Order regular feminized photoperiod seeds and start the same giving a couple weeks veg under lighting then move to outdoors.

or 3) Order half auto/half photo and compare the two for experience to fall back on for next year.

I kind of feel like the autos would give a larger yield at this time of the year compared to the photos, which I may be wrong. I am expecting at least an ounce per plant, so which ever method will give me the biggest yield I will more than likely choose that route. Hope someone with some experience can help me so I can spend my money wisely. :tiphat:

My 2cs: Try both autos and photoperiod -always a good idea. Autos should finish nicely for you and as they are autos the light won´t be a problem. In my experience autos are hardy but they aren´t crazy about nutrients, my last Snowryders were badly burned by too many chemicals -organic is better and topdressing with guano is a good idea. They seem to like molasses when in bloom but in moderation. I feel that Dieselryder is a good outdoor auto that´ll give you a nice harvest with a minimum of headaches.

Can't really give you first hand experience. I'm trying auto's for the first time this year and never done a late plant out. But I agree with Runt above. Try them both, It would be best to do an experiment and share the results with us guerrillas. You never know, if one or the other produces an extra ounce per that's a huge difference.
Best of luck with the late plant and may all your buds be huge.
Peace GG

Please keep us updated with the results.

What autos are you going to try? I would start them indoors and plant them out before they get too rootbound. 2-3 weeks indoors under 24/7 light will get you a good jump start before putting them outside.

i got 2 autos pandora from paradise and mephisto Fantasmo Express a.k.a Auto OG Ghost Train Haze. what u all think? i could plant it in the same spot that i just yanked that serious shit 6 up from. i should have planted it around may 20th but had i did that all the rain we got im sure they would have got bud rot since autos are more suspectible.

Kyg, just wanted to pop in and tell you that I think the KC-33 may be my favorite strain in my garden, since I remember you touting it before the season started.

Granted I haven't smoked anything yet, but just based on vigor and structure, they are awesome. The fastest to take off after being put in the ground. I didn't get any males, but I plan on throwing some pollen at a couple ladies to make some crosses.

Happy growing!

I just finished some northern lights autos outdoor...killer aroma and taste...3 gallon smart pots - decent yield. stone is about a 7.

I dont know much about pandora but anything mephisto is top notch as far as autos go and the fantasmo finishes pretty quick I think. Wouldnt hurt to give them a try. Id be interested in watching.
