Most of the cannabis in Korea probably comes from Japan, especially those areas overrun with wild "chronic" hemp that consistently tests at 3.5+% thc (if you think that's low, take into consideration most hemp plants produce 1% thc or far less.

This kind of strong wild weed would probably be the only stuff that could survive in Korea, considering the government's scariness, they'd need a strain that wouldn't require tending & care, just seed a few patches out in the boonies so they can come back 6 months later to see what happened.

Im talking about fully adapted landrace "strains".

Interesting info about the wild weed thc percentage and in Japan :chin:

And when throwing suggestions about hybrids and the government survelance, why not plant af hybrids -> seed to harvest in 80 days!

Little tip for brave Korean guerilla growers

fuck that jus grow indoors and ur set. there are tons of products out there to mask the smell and all u need to do is find cool neighbors.

I'm looking around myself for some Korean strains...to no avail. I might have to try out the Lavender just for kicks to see what comes of it.
I have been looking for a solid specimen of Romulan for years now. I didn't know it had any Korean Lineage in it.
Yo donpuro! If you find any more info shoot me the info. Help a brother out. :joint:

not sure on the accuracy, but read recently that the Romulan originally comes from Korean lines.....it's doubtful, but who really knows .............

I am not too sure myself on the lineage of Romulan but I know they have a thriving hemp growing industry in Korea. My mother told me my Grandfather used to farm Hemp and Tabacco back in the day.... I am unaware of any seed banks that stock Romulan so if anyone knows of one lemme know! :joint:

ok, since i phrased it as a question, and the two subsequent posts were re-wording the same question....

Romulan = Korean and Colombian. Probably leans to the korean side, but its more likely kinda grayed together, as it was probably inbred numerous times.

your best bet now is Next Generation Seed Company. Not available through Gypsy currently, though.

The only ganj story I heard was from my neighbor when I lived in Denver. He had been in the Army and had gone out on patrol towards the end of summer. He said they were marching out in the middle of nowhere when everyone in the patrol started sniffing the air ("even the sgt. with us knew what that smell was, an' it damn sure wasn't kimchi!") He went on to tell me that later that afternoon, he took a picture of one of his freinds standing next to a "huge" plant. I never saw this picture, so I cannot say it's a true story, but I had no reason to doubt him. We were there about the same time, so it would've been btw '89 and '91. I'm sure that somewhere in the land of the morning calm there are some wild plants growing. Probably further south on the penninsula.

Back During the Korean War my father told me his patrol would roll up on fields of big ass Mj plants....It so happens that one of those fields was my soon to be Grandfathers. Crazy shit. :smokeit:

so u sayin romulan is korean and columbian? never knew that

from SF...
"Rumors and guesses as to the parentage of Romulan abound. Claims that the Romulan is a pure Indica (Afgani/Kush) are mistaken. While there may be some genetics from Indica (Afgani) varieties, anyone who has tried the Romulan knows that the mind warping effect is that of plant with strong sativa traits. `Romulan Joe` and I have had many conversations on the origin of this strain. According to him the original breeders started growing in there backyard and greenhouse in the 50`s, after being introduced to cannabis in the Korean war and bringing home seeds to Victoria. They struggled to grow and acclimatise these seeds selecting the faster flowering shorter plants from the tall lanky Korean strain. When the late sixties and early seventies rolled around, they began trying Columbian and Mexician seeds, hybridizing varieties from these. In the mid 80`s when the Afghani strains swept into North America they briefly tried hybridizing with these but eventually when back to selecting the traits they liked in there old genetics. They worked mainly with Sativa genetics but always selected shorter squatter phenotypes which has made many people think that it is purely Indica strain. But whatever its true genealogy is, I`m sure we can all agree on its great taste and high."
I dig up this thread wow cause i prepare myself to explore something from PRK, North Korean (1987). It's a sativa L. subsp. sativa line but i plan the hybridization with my special Mazari, will see, wish me luck with those only 12 seeds! I hope to select just one good stable female but if a good male is there i will clone both for a next reproduction trial.

This PRK line comes from the Leibniz Institute Genebank, also preserved by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault! I am really honored by this acquisition, big thanks to the German IC member who will reconize, full vibes bro!

There is lot of feral hemp in North Korea in the countryside from what I've read, same in Japan and so on... I've also received those North Korean accesions through a german researcher friend.

I will be definitely curious about those Roms. I supose they should be probably Broad Leaf Hemp cultivars as Clarke and Hilling call them. I also have a bunch of chinese hemp seeds from Southern China and Yunnan areas, real huge seed hemp, bred for food really (they eat seeds as snack and for cooking).

Cheers.
