captain, very nice showin the kona gold, and your description is great too :) when i was in kona last year i got a bunch of dark resinous bud clearly grown outdoors. discovered a few seeds, brought em back and grew em out. the resulting females were spectacular, with the look, and especially a high exactly like you describe. the earthy fruityness with a slight hashiness and you hit it on the head, the aroma itself is intoxicating. the thing with my female is that the fruity liquor aroma smells exactly like scratch n sniff cherry! i had another female that yielded slightly more but didn't have the strong cherry aroma (everything else was exactly the same). the leaves are extremely thin and she takes around 12 weeks. and i do love the high, not racy at all but still strong in its own way, captain your description is really the best interpretation.

so is the kona gold considered an ibl or land race? should it still be found in the forests of kona? and has there been much variation in the strain to anyone's knowledge? i wish i knew more about this plant i have, ah well. she's begun her second reveg now.

you have other incredible genetics there (the JH mmm) that anything crossed with the kona will be killer. i've so far made a couple hundred kona cherry x skunk #1 feminized seeds, and just a few cherry x NL and cherry x bogbubble. have yet to test any but can't wait. i also can't wait to see your hawaiian hybrids fill out!

sorry for any ramblin, but i've been trying to hunt down kona gold info and the like to try and help me discern what i have. plus seeing the different hawaiin strains are always remarkable. take care captain!

CaptainJack, if those are the shitty pics, I can't wait to see the good pics [looks, better than, good from here my friend]. Pardon my asking, but how long have you had your genetics? Here are my plants [the Oaxacan in the container came fom twenty seven year old seeds, no BS, I got in 1978 from my cousins in Oaxaca and still have]. They don't compare to yours CaptainJack, but they get you well on your way to the stratosphere [the bubble hash from this cannabis is spicy and candy store smelling, just like the buds]. The Gold Sinsemilla is from 2004 and is my "Connoisseur Oaxacan", the pic with the three buds are from my last three grows that came from my Oaxacan seeds [from LtoR 2002 spicey, 2003 fruity, 2004 oranges. With the one in the container being unfinished 2005]. They'll be done Dec. 2005 or Jan. 2006 [we have a different sunlight schedule in West Texas], hope you like them.

Peace and sweet tasty nugs CaptainJack.

Most Hawaiian Pakalolo is a land race. Forests of Kona...Don't you mean lava fields? There has been a ton of variation over the years. More than you will ever know.

Kona is a place. Many variations exist. Most Hawaiian growers breed for local conditions. So between grower to grower everything is different. Yet it will all be called Kona Gold. So you have a myriad of strains, grown under many different local conditions...remember we are a land of microclimates. Uniform we are not.

Genetics? Who the hell knows? Chances are very good that there is are some Southeast Asian roots there.

Same thing for all the islands. Let me give you an example how this worked

Late '70s Mango was all the rage. Seeds were brought from Oaxaca and crossed. One variation was called Bloodweed. Name comes fron pinkish sap when young plants are cut. We crossed White Widow with Bloodweed and got a strain we called Bloody Widow.

Now multiply me times 1,000. Welcome to Hawaii. Land of the bastardized strains. Would you as a consumer rather buy Maui Wowie...or ...Bloody Widow?

It's called marketing. Hundreds of unique variations and strains...all under one name.
