King Klones

Sup icmag I just picked up some cuts from valley health in sac. I got one each of candyland, blackjack, gdp and blue dream. I've only got a couple grows under my belt before this so I'm all ears on suggestions and tips. Right now I have them in two gallon pots in some happy frog. They're under a cfl set on a 18/6 schedule with an exra hour of light in the middle to interrupt the dark period.

I've never started from clone before so Im a little concerned about preflowering. All of my clones have pistols and hairs on all of the nodes. Is this normal?
And how long should I keep them inside under the light before I can move them outside without worrying about preflowering? And should they be on an 18/6 cycle or should I have a shorter dark period like 20/4 or something? All the clones had a good amount of roots coming through the rockwool.

Also I was hoping to get some input on people's opinions of the king klone brand. Originally I planned to get some dark heart cuts from rcp but its too damn hard to get them between my long ass work schedule and the huge swarm of people who camp out and shit waiting for them every Thursday morning. Seriously aint no body got time for dat lol. At least I don't. Anyways, from what I've seen and heard the king cuts seem pretty decent. What's y'alls experience with em?

Thanks for lookin, peace and good luck this season!

You should just leave them at 18/6, don't need the hour in the middle. Do that for a few more days then put them outside. They shouldn't flower this time of the year. If you're worried about them flowering, get a bright flashlight and light them up for a few minutes about 10:30 each evening for a week or two.

Good luck!

Hey Oakhills thanks for the advice man I appreciate it. I will put them out in a few days. So I guess the hairs and pistols are just a sign of sexual maturity rather than meaning the clone is already going into flower. Have you grown out any king strains? Thanks!

We've ran the Phantom cut from K.K. in a gh light dep. Its Cherry Pie X GDP. She is one frosty plant. Ive heard nothing but good things from king klone company. Im not sure what the deal is with the names Kens strains and there's are the same but the genetics are different?

They won't flower if U put them out, these past few days were the longest days of the year so this is the time of the year you can put your clones out with basically no worries of them flowering.

You could of put them out the 1st of June with pretty much no worries, in the future years I would recommend you do that for more veg time. And yes it is normal to see pistols at nodes (preflowering) when your plants are under 18/6

King klone is legit the seeds are kens granddaddy genetics they use to be san jose granddaddy but had a falling out so kept his seeds"

So apparently they used to be partners or something and split up but kept the same genetics.

Glad to hear you liked the phantom Noonin. Im pretty excited to see how this blackjack is gonna turn out. Actually excited for everything haha. If you got any pics you feel like sharing of your light deep or anything else you want I would love to see. Thanks man!

Hey DrGreenthumb333 thanks for your advice. I will definitely get an earlier start next year. I would have loved to have started earlier this year but I am currently in the process of buying a house and didn't want to start until I knew I would have a good spot for outdoor. But now that I'm in the clear and have a pretty decent spot lined up I'm good to go.

By the way I just wanted to say I've been on icmag watching for a while but haven't posted until now. I've seen some amazing things happen here and have gained a ton of respect for everyone who shares their knowledge and experiences here. Shout out to the big dogs leading the way like Mendo420, BYF, Schrews, Epicorchard, Hillbilly1, Grow nerd, Hatchbrew, Stankdank, Oakhills, Noonin Norcal, DrGreenthumb333, Mofoo, and Ganjarebel just to name a few. Sorry if I missed anyone else. Y'all are badasses for letting the world know how its done!

So I put my clones out Wednesday under full shade and they did fine. Then yesterday I had them in partial shade and it got pretty hot and I had a couple fan leaves that were trimmed shrivel up. The candyland got the worst of it but I think they will get adjusted soon. It's going to be another hot one today so I have them back under full shade.

Finally its Saturday and I had some time to improve my setup a little bit. The candyland and the blue dream both got burnt. Anyone have a suggestion on how I can help them? I'll post pics

The girls are doin pretty good. Except for the candyland,
she's still struggling for some reason. I hope she pulls through soon and I see some new growth like im getting from my other plants. I feel kinda lame because I got such a late start and my plants are so tiny compared to everyone else's on here. I know I won't get that great of a yield but I dont care I'm doing it more for the experience this season anyways.

Next week is going to be crazy busy for me. My girl and I are moving into our new house. I plan on getting these girls into bigger containers after that. Ive been on the buildasoil site and have been thinking about getting their nutrient kit and doing one large pot. Since max yield isn't really my goal do you guys think quad planting in maybe a 100 gal smart pot would work out ok for me? I just figured that might be the best way to maximize root space while staying under a budget. I pretty much want to get everything off the buildasoil site lol.

Here's a pic I just took. Sunshine and rain in the foothills. Gotta love the 530. Hope everyone's gardens are thriving. Peace

What's up 20 sack??? First off I wanna day don't feel lame at all man, just cuz you got a late start doesn't mean you still can't have a healthy crop!! If I was in your position I would prolly plant each clone in there own 20 gallon smart pot instead of quad planting them in a 100 gal. But there are plenty of guys that double, triple and quad plant in pots with alot of success so it definitely is a option.

As far as the dirt situation goes, again if I was you id just get sum bagged soil that's pre fed with organic amendments something like fox farm ocean forest, roots original mix or 707 mix. Royal gold makes a good charged soil too. I don't know if you have seen my outdoor thread but we use bagged soil FFOF mainly because we get a good pallet price and it works wonders, we pre mix it with a dry pre mix of organic amendments called organicare pure grow, but since you are getting a late start and you will only have 35 or 45 days of veg you wouldn't have to amend it with anything extra. you can just top dress as you get later in the season if the girls need sum extra food.

I forgot to add, when you brought your clones outside for the year did you throw them right in full sun? Because if so and you dident do any sort of hardening off first the plants will take a week or so to start showing normal growth because of the intensity of the sun it goes through sort of a transition period. 9 times out of 10 the plants take a turn for the worse if they get put out right under direct sun. They get burnt and stall until they get acclimated. So its always a good idea to harden the plants off before putting them out right underneath the sun.

One more thing lol hopefully you have a spot with at least 6 hours of good direct sun 8 hours is good 10 to 12 is amazing and when the girls are settled in and growing well lots of full direct sun will make a huge difference in growth rate. with good soil, decent amount of root space and lots of full sunshine you will make up sum time on the late start.

I'm sorry man I was talking about hardening off and how the intensity of the sun affects plants that are pot put right under neath it with no acclimation time but I dident realize you already knew what's up lol, id keep then in the shade for a week but put them in the partial sunlight for a hour or so at sundown when its cooler and not as intense

Dr. G thanks for the response man, ur garden is beautiful btw. Yeah I had them in what I thought was full shade when I first put them out. Turns out they were actually getting hit with full sun from like 10 to 12. Whoops oh well the only plants that got burned were the candyland and the blue dream. And the blue dream is already going strong again now.

I will probably end up doing like you said and go with some organic bagged soil and 4 20gal smart pots and do a top dress later in flower. I just really want to focus on quality of finished product. Have you been on the buildasoil website? They have some good organic shit for very decent prices. The coots mix definitely caught my eye for my next grow.

Looks like my closing date on my house is getting pushed back a few days so I won't be into my new place till next weekend most likely. Its all good though. Hope everyone had a good 4th. Peace!

Things are going good. The vigor of the blue dream is no joke. It was one of the ones that got burnt and it's now my biggest plant lol. I just gave them a light feeding of agsil16, organic neem oil and maxicrop. Can't wait to get them in their final pots.

So we're getting the keys to our new place today which is very exciting. That also means I can finally get my girls into their bigger pots. I just picked up 4 20 gal smart pots (no pun intended but ill take it) and 4 bags of roots organics 707. I should be able to get them transplanted either tonight or tomorrow morning. Ill post pics after I do.

They are growing like crazy but not all of a sudden yesterday I noticed brown spots on a couple of my black jacks leaves. Its weird because that has been the most healthy out of them all until now. The spots appeared very quickly too like over 10 hours. They are in 2 gal happy frog pots and have only been watered pure reverse osmosis water. Last weekend I gave them all a real light mix of agsil 16, organic neem oil, and a tiny bit of maxicrop. From what ive been looking at it seems like maybe a cal/mag deficiency or maybe potassium? Or maybe something else completely. Anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate it. Thanks and peace

Finally got moved and my girls transplanted. Im stoked except for the browning that happened to the black jack. Its only on one side of the plant and has gotten a little worse. Im hoping that being in bigger pots with fresh soil will help.

Hey there!

nice growing project u have going!

i think the brown leaves may be caused from intense light and heat exposition of the roots. Some of them may have died.
It does'n look like a mineral def to me.
I Would add some cal-mag anyways tho if i was using pure RO water.

Peace!
