Just about done with a run of an entire pack of 6 KA5H fems side-by-side. #3 is the only one still standing in week 17. The very tippy tops never really stopped stretching, and are still quite green, but the rest is fading nicely and seems close to being done. Very bushy and initially quite leafy. Doesn't smell too strong - floral, with a tiny bit of acrid.

I'll post more about the other phenos in the coming days. My two favorites are loud and lean on the fruity/incensey side, and are currently revegging.

Thank you @dubi! Indeed it's been about three months since the harvest, and I've been trying them here and there. This past weekend I decided to write down some notes.

KA5H2

Stretchy, floppy (needed lots of support), less leafy phenotype.

Stored at 50F, 60% RH.
Method: joint, 0.63g
Smell: primarily woody, earthy; also subtly incensey, cucumber/melon; not too strong
Appearance: spongy, but dense
Taste: mild, smooth, somewhat sweet, reminiscent of fresh cut dry wood

Effect:
Develops softly and gradually. I begin to feel it about halfway through the joint. After 5 minutes, it starts to come on strong. Heady, not much body effect. Functional; thought process not too affected. After 10 minutes, my head is starting to feel airy, like a balloon being inflated. Focus is becoming harder to maintain. The inflated feeling is moving own into the chest. The mind feels relaxed. At this point I went out into the yard to do some physical work. After about an hour and a half, there is a pleasant feeling of well-being and content.

Overall, I would say the potency of this plant was roughly on par with the better of my Honduran females - not overpowering, functional, pleasant. Nice daytime smoke. Honduras has a stronger stimulating component to its effect, but this is highly subjective, of course.

KA5H1

More robust, leafy phenotype.

Initially overdried; stored at 50F, 45-50% RH

Method: joint, 0.65g
Smell: earthy, skunky, with a floral/petal note; slightly woody
Appearance: dense, hard nuggets
Taste: earthy, spicy

Effect:
Starts in the chest. After 5 minutes, everything is slowing down. A pleasant warm feeling is spreading through the body. Feels subjectively more "potent" - i.e. "heavy" - than KA5H2. More "out-of-phase" feeling. Body us relaxed, and the mind is very unfocused. Hard to finish thoughts. Observation "in-the-moment" seems to be the preferred mode of interaction with the world. The brain fills the gaps in understanding (due to this "attentionless perception") with fantastical and outlandish mosaics of numerous, quick-firing, short thoughts. Very good for watching a trippy movie.

She's not the strongest (level of mental impairment) weed I've ever smoked, but among the strongest I've grown. Probably on par with the stronger of the two Bangi Hazes I grew, and similar to Panama, but much kinder, without edginess or paranoia, more relaxing to the body.

I am currently growing both of these again from clone, plus the rest of the 6-pack. There are 2 more "leggy" phenos and 2 more compact ones. I'll post more pics of all 6 for comparison when the new ladies get far enough into flower.

Happy growing!

heheheheh thanks a lot for sharing your initial insights about them @MrFancyPlants ;) love the way you put the effects in words! How did the harvest of these 2 evolve through the curing ? I enjoy the most Malawi and A5 Haze genetics after 2-3 months of curing. And wow! This third, long flowering one is something else, showing a much more tropical sativa expressions (Old Malawi Killer style) than previous 2. I like a lot how it looks your last pic.

Hey folks
My little girl started the end of June gave 3 1/2 oz of dry bud I open the little jar for a peek and she smells pretty rotten. I rolled a small joint and shared with 3 pro level geezer smokers. Taste is not remarkable but 10 minutes later all our Tickle Boxes turned over and we giggled for about an hour over nonsense. Old hillbillies slapping our knees hooting and hollering.
We plan to keep the rest of the jars sealed till next year. It’s pretty racy just the thing to keep my tired ass moving around these cold hills.
Thanks Ace for making this fine strain.

hehehehe thanks a lot for sharing yours @Rodehazrd :ROFLMAO: I also had a good laught reading it. Glad to see she finished well in your climate of cold start of autumn. Based on your descripion of her nasty terpenes and loooking at her buds i think she leans towards A5 Haze, a balanced NL5/HazeA expression. Sounds like great party weed 🥳

The KA5H that I grew had very little odor. I agree with what a58 said as it was THE lowest odor plant I've grown. Now if I disturbed it like rubbed the stems on purpose there was an odor on my hands but not in the house. I didnt run the carbon filter at all during the whole grow and no one noticed.

Mine hasn't been curing very long but we tried some last night and found it still a little harsh but it is very strong in effects and they last a long time. Hopefully, the taste and harshness will continue to improve. Im using Grove bags this time. Ive heard a lot of good recommendations for them and wanted to give them a go.

Congrats on your KA5H harvest, great looking long indoor colas @RottyRzr :) yeah, plants leaning towards woody-oily Old Malawi Killer type of terpenes are usually very stealth and low odour during their whole cycle. Glad she was already very potent and long lasting in effects since the start. Harvest must be reaching its best potential now around this time after a good curing. Thanks for sharing your experience and enjoy!

Last night was freezing or nearly so. Forecast is rain and cold weather coming so I pulled the ka5h last night. The end of the season for me. Total flower time is less than 9 weeks so seems this is not fully mature.

Lessons learned at about 40 degrees not the best for outdoor due to late flowering. Inside flower early as stretch is impressive. My yield is going to be smaller I’m guessing in part due to long veg and root bound. Looking forward to trying her soon.

Congrats @blondie on your harvest :) happy to hear she finished well, although as you correctly pointed out, your climate is probably a bit on the limit for this genetics. Killer A5 Haze prefers very intense sun and not so cold temps, at least in the first 2/3 parts of flowering. Later in late flowering and Once the volume and weight of the colas have been well formed, then KA5H can take cold temps quite well for the final ripening.

I see your phenotype looked much more NL 5 dominant for flowering traits than what we are used to see here for this strain. How are her effects now after a couple of months of curing ?

A few shots of my KA5H's:

With this line, i've found my holy grail so far. Such a great cross! Diving into the reg.-version and making new crosses was also fun, can't wait to test them out this outdoor season!

Your plant overall look like a very dominant A5 Haze expression, with very desirable traits from NL5 and Haze A. How are her effects and terpenes ?

What a show @JustGrowing420 ! :tiphat: Thanks for all the frequent updates on your 3 girls, much appreciated! They took their sweet time to catch up at the start since they were young sativa plants flowered from seed, but later they became really good looking girls of long legs hehehehe

Flowers of all 3 plants look very A5 Haze dominant and super :yummy: in your last pics after trimming, terpenes of plant #1 sounds like leans more towards Old Malawi Killer scents, while the other 2 sound all A5 for terps too. And glad they have different type of effects that may fit for different moments.

Hope you are satisfied with the genetics :)

Welcome to our room on ICMag ElQuesoNegro and thanks for choosing Killer A5 Haze
Could you post some pics of the plant finishing and describe the type of aromas during ripening ?
Then i will be able to identify the pheno in a more accurate way.

I’ve got just one KA5 inside, it’s been nothing but metallic since flowering, day 63 …metallic has always been mean herb in my experience. I’m ok with that.
great looking buds after 63 days of flowering @BurntBacon :) Metallic terps in Haze hybrids is always a good sign since it means hazyness heheheh and the metalic ones usualy came out with very cerebral effects !

High all! A week or so ago I decided my young red snake needed some company so cracked two Ka5h seeds. They are up and doing fine in happy frog soil. After reading dubis comments this morning I had to break out my ka5h and post my seedlings and do a small writeup here. I cracked the lid on my three mason jars a bit ago and was hit with a mild citrus maybe lemon licorice type of smell. Quite pleasing but subtle. Since the lid was off I had to pack a round..... The high is quite up beat. Though maybe mine is an NL leaner, I’m far from couch locked ATM. I enjoy the effect I describe as upbeat but mello at the same time. I will say vape your indicas fresh after harvest and let Malawi and ka5h sit for a few months or more.

Two ka5h amid the sea of greens under a 600w mh. Also a few close ups of my au naturel ka5h.

Terpenes are very strong, something i've never smelled before - just remarkable. There is incense, there is liver, there is some kind of floral, perfume.. yeah I cannot really define it. I had two phenotype - expressions, the A5 Haze Type stands out in strength of high and terpenes.
The high is something else, heady of course and pheno-depending it get's you high like a space-rocket. Can be immensily trippy, when smoked with someone else.
And it always get's me, regardless of my tolerance.

Working in the tent tonight and snapped some jpegs of my two Ka5h. To me they are clearly two different phenotypes. One the leaves are shorter and fatter. I’m thinking this is closest to NL/haze pheno. More indica dominant at least. The other with yellowing on the leaves are longer and thinner. The yellowing is from over watering. I need to be more careful with that one looks like. No clue pheno this one yet. The one image is a red snake and the fatty leaved ka5h in the corner. You can really see fatty leaves in the ka5h. It’s possible there may be a red snake x ka5h coming.

Very nice everyone, let's keep the thread rolling!

@JustGrowing420, those are some really tasty looking chunks of sativa flowers! Yum! I bet the smoke will be fantastic in a couple of months.

#6

This is one of my two favorites from the pack, and was harvested after 108 days of 11/13. Topped once a week before flower, keeping 4 lower branches, and transplanted into a 5 gal fabric pot. She was one of the shorter, more compact plants initially, but bolted in early flower, staying quite manageable horizontally, and keeping strong apical dominance for the main branches, eventually forming sizeable spears. The dominant branch formed a rather thick stem near the top as it stretched. Perhaps it was some form of fasciation, but the stem self-topped and split into two new spears. Flowered from about 18'' tall (with 4 tops), she reached a height of perhaps 6.5 feet. Beware, there is quite a bit of vigor in this line ;) A relatively open structure with little tertiary branching makes it easier for more light to reach the lower parts.

Flowers are quite beautiful, and continue stacking up nicely through the weeks. Resin and bouquet really come on stronger in the latter half of flowering. Initially she smelled a bit floral with a bit of dead petals/earth/apples/cheese, vaguely similar to #1, but developed to be much more fragrant, sweeter and predominantly anise/liquorice, which I prefer. She is the second most resinous plant of the bunch, after #4.

Here's another one of my pack.

#5

Grown from seed along with #3, #4, and #6 (#1 and #2 were grown from clones). Topped one week before flower (kept 4 lower branches), transplanted into a 5 gal fabric pot. Harvested after 100 days of 11/13.

Even halfway through flowering, she was morphologically very similar to #6, but with somewhat narrower leaves, stronger branching and tighter, larger flower clusters that stack very nicely. Trichome coverage was not as extreme as #4 or even #6, though still quite generous. It is possible that she did not take N as well as the others, as she had the most "claw" near the top, and was generally the darkest of the bunch.

The aroma started out similar to #4 - sweet fruit, wood, incense - but not as intense. It evolved to somewhere between #4 and #6, with sweet anise against a dark, thick, spicy, earthy background (hashy, perhaps?), but definitely not as loud as those two.

Unfortunately, she sprouted a few male flowers throughout toward the end. My tent isn't exactly light-proof anymore (those of you with cats might sympathize), but she nonetheless was not as sexually stable as her sisters.
