Killer A5 Haze

Next time I grow this I will know what to expect! I was totally caught off guard not having the experience with, well KA5H. I love it. No issues with bud worms in your area? Again that is one hell of a nice plant your growing.
Caterpillars are the biggest threat here, with raccoons, rats, and mice lesser problems. I foliar weekly with Safer brand BT and some KNF products. I also get Trichogramma bi-weekly and there’s a population of mantises and birds that help out. Pics are from this morning on the 100g Malawi that’s next to the KA5H. Not my favorite plant to grow or smoke but it’s a neighborhood favorite. This years was a bit of a dud and flowered early; I’m assuming I stressed her too much. Last pic has the KA5H in the background.

Yea my neighborhood likes Bangi Haze and I do to! I hope to get 500g from her this year. But back on topic. I'm hoping 1000g from KA5H. I'm calling 1st day of flower today @ 32N. And you?

I’ve done a very poor job this year attempting to eye ball sex. Two in the ground in two different locations…both male. I’ve kept the third struggling to survive (first one I thought was a male) in a 1 gallon pot. Looking tonight and I think it’s the lone female. Going to up pot tomorrow and see what I can get on it.

How interesting, I’m growing a Bangi Haze. too. And please forgive my negligence, my ‘g’s are gallons, so I have a KA5H in 150gallon bag, with a Malawi to the left in a 100gallon, and a Bangi Haze also in a 100. The Bangi and KA5H were germinated and planted at the same time. In the pics the Bangi is in the corner, she started off fine but the the vigor of the KA5H eventually overwhelmed her and she didn’t reach full potential. The pheno the bangi is showing is from what I remember, whispy and thin, she would have been nominally tall without training. But again, this version of KA5H is just too vigorous and I’m guessing would have been nearly 20 foot wide given the space. I’m unsure about yield but sativas in the 150gallon range between 2000-2500 grams. Pics are of the Bangi in the corner with the KA5H to the left. Most recent are from yesterday and the Bangi is about a week into bloom.

Just as much my mis-understanding. I mean 100g of flower for a Malawi, right! Anyway you said a 150 gal. bottomless bag meaning you cut the bottom out and placed on ground, isn't that in ground? I grow in 40 gal. fabric but dug a 50 gal. hole, in clay, for KA5H so to me shes in-ground but at the same time I think the clay limits root growth. My screen house is 12' x 14' and I have 7 plants (running some Guawi to) and no room to move around and I thought it funny your KA5H would take up the whole thing. Yea my Bangi has been in bloom about 12 days now. Such a stable, easy to grow, low maintenance strain.

I’m getting worried about the ka5h, as it’s not really flowering yet. It’s growing great but just not flowering. Hopefully it will get going soon. Not really sure what I can do to get it moving??

Is there a street light or something near by? If not I would expect it to come good as the days shorten. What latitude?

Yea I have light pollution issues and it was another reason for making my screen house, to pull a tarp over at night, however I don't do it till early September. My KA5H started bloom 3 days ago @ 32N. I have a Guawi not yet in bloom, kick's in late August and your KA5H will to. I would consider transplanting to a larger volume before flower kick's in. Crouch down by your plant at night and look around. If you see light so does she.

Gave one of the girls the chop just now. I think it's 51 days since switching to 11/13 in DWC. Letting the other go longer
Trichomes are white for this first one as a tester. After reading much from others I think this will suit us all the best
It smells pretty potent. I'm not much for aromas but between us we came up with a basic description
There seems to be some incense, a little lime zest and a base of what we could only describe as toxic chemical/solvent/fuel. Not sure what pheno it is as we have been pretty sheltered from other strains over the decades and don't really understand the terminology :p

Looking forward to test time :)

I’m at 38 high on the ridge. I put this KA5H cutting out in late June to see its reaction to the cool damp I get in September. I also put one down in the bottoms. Got major pre flowers but no buds yet on either. That’s a Bubba Kush behind it

We had our first taste of the dry buds yesterday at a friend's place for pizza and drinks
Although it is still very fresh and needs some cure to gain strength and flavor it was quite pleasing and added to the mood of the evening. Aromas are woody pine and incense with that no-nonsense hint in the back ground
After indulging in a reasonable size smoke, shared amongst us, there were smiles all 'round and much chatter and laughing, although a few trains of thought were lost. As the evening went on our host was happy to have another joint of something else (Mango Chutney) but had had enough KA5H :p

From the first few buds came 4 seeds from the Malawi x PCK male I grew out for pollen. They should be quite interesting :)
3.4oz (95g) from the plant

hopefully your other ka5hs are still growing.. that is where the strength and yield will come from, Curing Tames on all levels.

it is good that it is tolerable, not too "green" picked this early and lightly seeded. your future runs will likely be spectacular once you finally 'get' what she needs. with DWC you are definitely capable of keeping up with her Dietary needs :smokey:

There is definitely room for improvement :) and yes I have 8 more KA5H on the go, although only one is in DWC the others are in coco
Apart from getting a grasp on the feeding of individual strains I think my main problem is air flow and temps, which I am improving on today as it happens. Installing a Ø200 centrifugal fan with 1M long carbon filter at one end of the grow room in the hottest area, above the flowering area where the KA5H is and the intake will be at the cooler/south end where the clones etc are (southern hemisphere) where there is the least lighting and heat on the shady side.
I'm slowly learning watering cycles and being in tune with the plants root growth etc to determine water needs. It's taking a while but I'm getting there :p

Edit: I just finished installing the new Ø200 extractor system and WOW!! just WOW!! what a difference!
The flow is just SO much better than the Ø150. Probably at least double. It pulls the door shut! I only have it on speed 2 of 4
Maybe these KA5Hs will do better now and have tighter buds...
