Haha! I'm not so sure you don't want to take that back; i'm a picky SOB when it comes to the trim job (well, and truthfully, everything else too!). Thanks for the kind words.
Bring it on! I'd love to learn from someone producing nugs like THAT! Highfive!

I'm a nitpicky mo-fo myself, KJ. I think it's the only way to go. Your product OBVIOUSLY speaks for itself in that regard!

cork144: Indeed they are dense. Turned out nicely, even though I wish I could have let her ripen a few more days. Thanks for stopping in.

Hella THC: Stop, before my head gets too big to fit in the forums. lol Being a geeky nitpicking obsessive has its perks, doesn't it? :joint:

Spectacular harvest, mate. Really nice job. I know what you mean about cooking. It's a problem for me too. I just store my trim until I'm in a better position.

Enjoy yo'self!

Hey Bork! Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, it makes me cry when I have to throw it all away. I could save it, let it dry and then do some dry sift (which happens to be my fave kind of hash anyway). I just don't know if it'd be worth the very small amount I'd end up with (a few grams, maybe?). But you know, maybe we'll just give it a go next time and see what happens.

Yep yep, that's what I did....let it dry, then ziplock it in the freezer until ready for....something!

Good news dude, I heard the forums recently widened their virtual doorways to accommodate your inflated ego! :D

Wait, you're geeky, nitpicky, AND obsessive?! I knew I had a twin out there somewhere...

And man, you gotta save your trim. You just have to. I won't allow you to throw it away anymore, ya hear me?! Hehe, great stuff KJ.

Heres to you,

- Hella

ScrubNinja: What's up Scrub!? Thanks for the compliments on the harvest.

BorkBorkBork: And therein lies another problem for us, we don't have anywhere to store a bunch of frozen trim. We could put a small amount in our kitchen freezer, but then it'd be there for prying eyes to see (unless we wrapped it like a mummy I suppose). At this point, the whole cooking endeavor would just be too much of a fiasco to make it worth our time. But someday!

Hella THC: Stop, you're make my sides ache from all the laughing. Surely the forum upgrade will come in handy for me and my inflated ego. Thanks for your enthusiasm and humor Hella!

flproductions: Welcome to our grow! Thanks for dropping in. Hopefully we'll have the new grow up and running soon.

rooted: Welcome, and thanks for the props!

Just a quick update to say that we haven't yet finished the final touches on the cab remodeling, but plan to soon. Procrastination! I just needed a little break from it all I guess. I love what I'm doing, but it is REAL work, contrary to those who think grass grows on trees and should be handed out to all for free!

We have started our soil up for the next run though. This time we're recycling the soil from this grow, so I finally emptied the pots of their dirt and seperated the root ball from as much of the soil as possible and mixed it all up nicely with what we had leftover from the last time we made soil (which, suprisingly, was still moist and alive).

I whetted it all down as it was mixed together by hand, using some LK and molasses in the water. As I did this, I also added sprinkles of fresh mycorrhizae onto the soil to get the beneficial fungi doing their thing. I wanted to let it "cook" for a few days before I added new nutrients, perlite and Sunshine mix. So by this weekend we should have it all ferted and doing its final cook for the next grow.

Hopefully I got all of the largest bit of roots out of the remixed soil so that it doesn't cause any problems. Speaking of which, here's a few pics of the root balls of the Bubblicious girls. I figured some of you might be interested in what kind of a root network the Smart Pots promote. We were very happy with the SP's and will use them again. The only downside is the rigidity issue, which means you have to be more kids gloves with them than other more firm pots. And there's also no easy way to use LST tie-downs with these pots; it's not like you can put a screw in the side of them. But overall, a real nice way to go.

KJ, I forgot to give props to your lady! I sometimes get tunnel vision and only think of the ones who are making the posts. High five her for me ;)

I know what you mean about the hard work part. It's amazing how people underestimate the amount of work this hobby takes! I laugh at friends that find bag seed and say things like "I should plant this in my backyard!" I just shake my head. None of my friends know I grow (rule number ONE and TWO) and I just have to shake my head at them. :(

Take a break man, you've worked hard and you have a nice harvest to enjoy. Give it a few days and you'll be self-motivated again. As being one with many medical problems myself, I find I can't do everything that needs to be done without taking many breaks :joint:

Keep it easy,

- Hella

Hey,
I just wanted to say, being new to the site, and interested in the 250w posts,
Yours really caught my eye. After reading through your logs, let me first say awesome work you guys are doing. Very inspiring for anyone interested in 250w growing.
Although we recently passed medical laws in my state, i put the cart before the horse, so to speak, and have a small grow room.
I grew cfl to get the hang of it, then bought the 250w hps.
My first flowering under 250w is in wk 5. Getting the hang of light distance, it's been tricky.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know what a good job you and your wife are doing.
I'm late to this party, but i'll follow, and be glad to join in on future grows.
Peace

Hey KJ, I just got back on the net and haven't seen any of this second grow until tonight. Great Work! Turned out really nice(especially considering the mites) and just BEAUTIFUL! You are not wrong at all about the hard work, I have 8 ladies a little over halfway through flowering on my second grow. It is a lot of work every night to make sure they stay happy, I'm trying to go to school and keep up a sort of perpetual system and it keeps me more than busy. I am planning on starting my own thread, which I have never done before, in the next hour or so and would love if you would stop by. I could really use your opinion, and anyone else's, on a problem I am having. Im flowering, 3 red dragon(Barney's Farm) and 5 AK-48(Nirvana) from clone of the seeds i did my first time. Anyways, sorry to go so long, Great Work! I know you'll enjoy your new medicine.

Thanks to everyone who followed this journal and joined in on the fun. I feel real bad that I never did post final info on the results of our harvest. I can only summarize here:

The Royal Hawaiian's are so far one of my all time favorite strains. It had a very potent, spicy aroma that was unique. The taste was a lot like the aroma, spicy. It worked wonders for my pain condition as well as my mood problems. I loved this one and I'm glad it was the biggest producing strain this grow. I'm REAL upset that I wasn't able to take any clones or obtain any seeds. All I can say is I'll be snatching this strain up again as soon as I can find it!

The White Rhino was mostly disappointing, but that I believe was due entirely to the fact that she only got to flower about 75% of the time that she actually needed. We took her way too early due to unpreventable circumstances. I can tell that this strain would be a wonder for me if grown to the correct ripeness. It was effective, just harsh and short lasting.

The Bubblicious came out a mixed bag. Sometimes it helped my condition, other times it exacerbated it. The taste was sickly sweet, almost too much for me. It smelled funky sweet too (maybe that's the bubblegum smell everyone is talking about?). These two were the hardest hit by the mites and I have no doubt that there were many dead ones left in the innards of these tight buds. Overall a decent strain (loved it during the grow; great structure), but it wasn't up to par enough for me to pursue it any further at this point.

That said, I'm nearly 100% out of my last harvest. Unfortunately, we haven't yet been able to do another grow. We did however make some mods to the cab that will hopefully make our next grow a better one (we replaced the doors for a better fit and air flow, still need to paint them. We also rehung the light in the flower room. I also finished the ventilation between the rooms so that we can now use the veg side next time!!!).

We're planning a grow soon. I hope to pop new beans this New Year. We're going to do a full run (4-6 plants, not sure yet) of TFD's Pure. It was one of our first strains grown, and I love it, so I figured the more the merrier (and we're better growers now, so this one should turn out even better). I'll start another journal when we do.

Sorry I haven't been around lately, but life does that sometimes.

I hope you all have a great New Year! May it bring bigger and better grows for all!!
