Kicking Caffeine

My roommate in college did that with Dr. Pepper.

Once his cheeks started growing bigger than his forehead he decided to quit.

He lost 60lbs in 8 weeks with his only change in routine being not drinking a 12 pack of soda every day.
Atleast Dr. Pepper doesnt shrink the testicles like Mountain Dew supposedly does. Thats the kind of news that hurts us all 😬

I used to drink a lot of coke and stuff whilst doing my A´levels and at college because I didn´t drink coffee. Coke just tastes so much better. I got the cavities to prove it too, lol.
Anyway I stopped drinking that crap a long time ago.

I´m not surprised your flatmate lost so much weight in such a short time at all! It´s a great example and just proves that drinks can be just as harmful as certain foods. And it´s not always alcohol either.

Years ago I had a Fanta and even though it was kinda nice, it was also a bit weird. I usually make my own lemonade with real lemon and much less sweetener.

Mountain Dew... funny, but in all the research I have read there are no reports of brominated vegetable oil condensing on plant in the mountains, morning or otherwise. lol Does make todays chemical burgers slide down easy... yes? lol

Hey Rob thanks for posting this bc I have sense stopped drinking red bull. Was drinking them while at work, prob wouldn’t have jumped on it like I did if I hadn’t been reading all these posts lol.
I stopped on the 8/9/22 and had one 8oz like 4 days later after waking up with a horrible migraine headache. So I was curious and went and grabbed me one. I drank prob 60 percent of it and Holy shit batman, that was fuckin tasty. Those strawberry ones they have now in the orange can are really delicious, and… my headache went away.
I was glad that move made my work day manageable but I have sense not touched any, and no headaches.

Energy drinks are fuckin intense.

Well if you feel better off without Caffeine, that's something.

Caffeine seems like a wonder drug for all ages - as long as it doesn't interfere with sleep.

Caffeine in the morning, Cannabis in the afternoon.

wow, I only ever tried Red Bull once, after years of just wondering about it. Know what though? It tasted like sh*t and it gave me zero energy, lol
So, I still don´t understand what the fuss is all about ...

I have my one cup of coffee a day but I have given up sugar for the most part along with corn syrup. I tried a regular Coke a while back and it tasted and felt like I was drinking syrup. No thanks.

Almost a full day without caffeine. Big headaches. Much pain😕
This is a interesting topic to me. My wife also gets headaches when she hasn't had her morning cups of coffee. I can go without coffee without any side effects. I can drink coffee at night and it has no effect on my sleep.

At work I was one of those guys that drank coffee all day long. Hell, most people are doing that at work. As I got older it started affecting my stomach . Now I only drink coffee in the morning.

I didn't read the whole thread but I know there are many others that don't get caffeine withdraw symptoms. I find it interesting how different chemicals affect people so differently.

I have seen people who drink alcohol and its like speed to them. As long as they keep drinking they are wide awake. Not me, if I drink even a few beers I am totally done, ready for bed. Yes, there is a initial rush of energy but it fades quickly.

I will say in my experience the people who drink alcohol and get energy are usually the ones that struggle with addiction. Just my 2 cents.

"Britons who drink black tea tend to have a lower risk of mortality compared to those who don’t, a new observational study has suggested.
Researchers said, when compared with those who do not drink the beverage, people who consumed two or more cups of English Breakfast or Earl Grey tea each day had between a 9 and 13 per cent lower risk of death.
Higher tea intake was also associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular diseases, the study found. There was was no clear trend for cancer deaths.
The findings, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine on Monday 29 August, were not impacted by factors such as whether the person added milk or sugar to their cuppa, or their preferred tea temperature.
They were also not affected by the rate at which people metabolise caffeine.

Looks like they have been doing testing on black tea in regards to kidney stones - it's not recommended for those susceptible to them -

milk or no milk - funny. I read another article that said scientists had found out that having your tea with milk is not that beneficial and kinda unhealthy. They said that you should have your tea without milk to gain all the benefits of the tea.
These guys ie the `experts´ change their minds about things all the time, don´t they?
I just read on a website where they stated that we shouldn´t eat fruit!!

Yes - we seem to get alot of contra-opinions and studies all of the time - it's hard to know what to believe - alot of fruit is full of sugars - so not recommended for diabetics - sugar is sugar - no matter where is comes from - and too much of it might make you sweeter - but also probably fatter and on the road to diabetes - lol - unless you burn it all off - thru exercise -

well, no, this is not correct actually. The fructose which we are always warned against is the fructore the industry uses and not the one we get from consuming fresh fruit.
This is what people keep getting confused about.
The healthy fructose coming from real fruit is good for you. Fruit is quicky digested and thus also quickly provides the body with energy, including the brain.
So eat your portion of fresh fruit everyday and you´ll be much better off. This includes weight loss btw :)
there is good sugar and bad sugar sources.

I fed a type 2 diabetic (bs levels around 400 on average for 10 years) tons of rice, honey, fruit, red meat and spinach for 2 weeks (The "O" blood type). Tons of sugars in that rice and honey and fruit. At the end of those two weeks, the Kid was waking up with 98's to 120's and was down 3 shots of insulin a day.

The diabetic industry advice is f'n whacked. ;)
