Kerala Landrace info

Thanks for the info.

I tried to germ one of the very last packs of RSC Kerala on offer, no luck.
Had a dream summer too. Still kicking myself for not having other extreme sativas to run outdoors that time. Won't be making that mistake again.

I guess that's how it is now with climate change. Outdoor growers at almost any latitude can get lucky some years :plant grow: :tree: :tree: :tree:

other years not so much :watchplant:

You guys are going to be mad at me. This reminded me to look at my personal seed bank today.

I may have to germinate some RSC Kerala some day.

These are going to be my second generation. But they're pure 100% Kerala seeds.

Just took these pics 10 minutes ago.

Back in the fridge they go for now.

The small plants are all RSC Kerala and the larger are RSC Highland Thai grown a while back.
The seeds in my post above were made with some of these plants that were selected. Had I
been able to grow them all to full size and pollinated them late into flowering I would have a
bucket of seeds. I suspect things will be better next time around.

The Kerala finished 1st so I know that they are 100% pure. As for the Highland Thai which
finished much later and I really worked hard to keep them 100% pure as well. I suspect they
may have a tiny Kerala blood in some of the Highland Seeds. But the Highland Thai are much
bigger seeds than the Kerala like the originals. So I'm not worried.

I remember your first round at 420, will be watching this as well. Btw, the male line doesn't affect seed size in the F1 generation, if that's what you implied. Best of luck!

I'm not growing at the moment. That plant pic was from that 1st round.

The seeds sure look very healthy though. :dance013:

I'm not sure yet what I'll be popping this year.

Just wanted to let people know that the Kerala is not lost in obscurity like some other types that most people never grow.

What we all really need is people around the World that keeps these rare genetics alive.

The overworked Dutch types get boring after a while.

@corky1968
any bud shots from your kerala grow?

Sorry no about the bud shots this time around.
I flowered very early on to make seeds and they
didn't make huge buds.

I think the only way to get huge buds on any sativa is to
leave them unpollinated. Since it takes so long for them to
build up.

If you've ever pollinated a plant you know things slow
down a lot once the plant gets pollinated. It must be
a hormonal thing.

Next time, I'll most likely leave some pollen-free plants build up.

Cheers

Hola KeralaCommunity,

You may be happy to know that I have a seed run started this year of both the RSC and Bohdi Kerala lines:) Plants are about 1-2 ft tall at the moment and I will start a grow show this weeknd to keep everyone updated.

Remember caring is sharing so this one is for the team;) Would be great if Corky1968 would run some too to increase the gene pool...what do you say man!

Saludos

Something about spilling some Kerala beans all over the place. :)

This will take time as you know. But it will happen all in good time. :watchplant:

I live in a state bordering Kerala and have been planning a pilgrimage to the Idukki fields. I had no clue there was such enthusiasm for Kerala strains out there (they are quite famous in India). We get a lot of bud mislabelled as Kerala Gold here, hence the plan to... feed straight from the teat.

Will definitely write a report if I make it there, even if the journey seems like a pipe dream right now.

And btw, an inhabitant of Kerala is called "Keralite" not "Keralan". Don't ask me why, English is weird :)
