Hey all,

Sorry for the late update; I've been out of the country for a while. I'm back now (obviously) and I've got a few updated pictures.

I've been installing hardware, caulking the edges, and painting the interior. Currently the cabinet has received its first coat of paint and it'll be getting another one after it dries out tomorrow.

Caulking pictures up first.

Had a piece of wood chip off while sanding... unfortunately this is one of the problems with using plywood. I've applied wood filler onto the damaged spot; I'll be sanding it smooth and staining it soon. :wallbash:

I'm also tossing in a few pictures of the various hardware. I'm adding some trim to the front frame of the cabinet as well to help clean up the image a little bit.

Added the first coat of stain to the top, sides, and back. The back had already been stained so the color will appear a bit lighter than the sides and top. I'll be doing multiple layers of stain to give it a nice rich color.

I'll also need extra stain over the part where the plywood chipped. I'd most likely redo it, but I'm moving back to the PNW in 3 weeks and I don't have time to start over from scratch. It sucks, but I'll have to live with it. :dunno:

I cant wait to see what the cab looks like when youve finished staining it, so far its looking great. This is one of the best cab builds i have seen in a long time, ive been watching this thread for a while now and im impressed, youve done an amazing job with this build :tiphat:

Thanks a lot bro, it means a lot!

There are imperfections that I'm not 100% pleased with; unfortunately with this move coming up I don't have as much time as I would have liked to fix them. Either way, I've had a lot of fun building this cabinet so far.

Updated pictures of the stain. Door pictures will come soon. The trim needs another coat (or two), but the wood in general is lighter so the stain will not match the main cabinet 100%. I'm thinking it'll be a nice offset though.

Looking like a pretty slick box, i've been thinking about building something like this for a long time, more so for stealth. It's hard to explain two tents next to each other. A nice cozy box would be ideal for me personally. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out, nice work so far man.

Thanks for the nice comments! New updates coming soon guys. I've been swamped getting prepared for this move.

If you're looking for a micro growing setup, I say go for it! It's not to difficult to build your own box, and it's satisfying building something to the exact dimensions that you're wanting. Without really giving the box a look over, it doesn't really appear suspicious in the corner of a room.

Hey there Kas, hows it going. I understand you've been busy preparing for the move, just curious if you've got any updates for us.
I have also been thinking about taking down the tent and building a box, ive been looking at yours for inspiration, as its a quality build.
I cant wait to see how it looks when finished, Have you stained and attached the door yet? I guess i will have to wait and see.
Take care bro :tiphat:

Hey brother, sorry for the lack of updates! I'm getting the final touches finished up. I'm hoping to have an update this weekend. The door has been stained, and I'm starting to add the clear coat onto the cabinet & door.

Thanks for the kind words! Definitely build yourself a cabinet if you're looking for a fun project. Even with higher quality materials, you can build yourself a cabinet for less than $200. It makes a nice piece of furniture that doesn't look bad in pretty much any room, and it doesn't really draw attention when people see it. Plus you can build the cabinet to whatever size you want depending on the size of your grow.

I've been loading up a cargo container that's being shipped (cheaper than driving a u-haul 2000+ miles @8 mpg). I have to have this container loaded and ready to go by the 8th so it'll be waiting for me when I arrive on the 13th.

I'm sorry for the lack of replies guys. I'm back here in the PNW.

The cabinet was badly badly damaged during the move. It was packed carefully but was damaged in transportation. I am currently in the process of trying to salvage as much of it as possible... I'll be giving the finger to Murphy and his laws until I can get this sorted.

Cheers all!

Just curious why a person doesn't use plastic w a drain board so u could put a misting system in?

It all depends on what kind of grow setup you're planning to do. I grow primarily with coco coir or a mix of promix/perlite/ewc. I haven't bothered with a misting system because it always brought the humidity up to high when growing in small spaces even with adequate ventilation.

You always have the option of building a micro hydroponic setup which would essentially do what you're talking about. Check out MtnJohn's thread with his micro cab. John is a brilliant grower and does amazing things in small spaces using hydroponics & a 150w HPS.

MtnJohn's Grow Box. Stop by his thread and give the dude some love.
