Kali Mist indoor organic serious seeds first run

I'm going to get photoshop as soon as I can and edit and replace these photos to remove the orange glow. I hope the pictures are still clear enough.

We have been busy as hell.

A few things that we have been working on:

Install AC in the box . This one is tricky. we can't neccesarily hang a unit out our window, because we are trying to remain stealthy ( renting ). So .. considering that we decided we would frame a 10,000 BTU window unit into the box.. One problem we considered was that our veg tent was sharing the same lung room as the 4x8 Flower box. We felt that the exhaust from the window ac unit might be detrimental to our veg tent. We decided for now it would be ok, considering our tent has a small exhaust fan and a t5 ( limited heat ). And we are in the winter months and have not been heating our house. So to cool that room we turn our whole house fan on as fresh intake rather than using outside air. Than the AC unit recirculates fresh cold intake into our sealed box. Down the road we are considering building a custom exhaust for the Unit to a hole exhaust out a window. Basically just would need to cut another hole in my Wood piece that i painted / put in window.

We weren't sure how the fuck to handle these stretchy bitches. I was nervous, Worried that branches would snap. they are currently 3 and a half feet tall , and just a few days ago while googling more info on the strain I found out she stretches 3x in flower... At this point I can do a few things.. Top the shit out of her for some huge clones, and than throw a SCROG on her .. What do you guys advise???

So thats what is in the works. I will post some updated pics, Been feeding with the tea every 3 weeks i think we are day 80 veg ish.

i've been super cropping and topping.. maybe i'll just continue to super crop to keep them smaller and stronger, would you advise throwing a scrog on them still?

Ok. An Update. Sneaky can come in for some more details. We have some problems that we think were from over watering. I think we'll be fine.

I guess the biggest update is that we are doing a 2k flower instead of a 1k flower now. We had some problems with our wiring that we fixed. We bought a 10,000 BTU A/C and framed it into the box. There aren't many more things to be done before flower now, except for making sure the plants are healthy.

These are plants that we are vegging. Thinking of cutting a clone or two off the girl scout cookies before putting these babies in with the kali to flower.

Here are some close ups of the Kali mist(taken yesterday). We think it's just from over watering. They look like they started to perk up today.

I think a combination of factors had this happen: some temperature fluctuation, some over watering, switch from 150 watt MH + t-5 to 1000 watt hps stress from getting trimmed. The one that looks really droopy had a branch break, I believe, so that may have also caused a little more droop. I'm not sure, but I think it will be just fine.

this one actually wasn't very badly effected.

we believe this is a problem related to overwatering / root rot. I've since stopped watering to let them completely dry out until i give them fresh water. I think what i'll do is give them less but more frequently ..

I've also been inspecting them with the 30x for thrips or any other critter and have found none..

Does this at all resemble A cal mag deficiency? I don't think its for lack of nutes considering how good the dirt medium is and also i've given them two strong teas during their veg.

Anyones input appreciated.

temps are around 75 on average 35 humidity. Now have them under 2k watt HPS still in veg about day 90 in 5 gallon containers.. Could they be root bound? How much wrapping of the roots has to take place before the plant is affected

I've been considering taking the one kali in the worst shape and transplanting it into a 10 gallon of new medium.. maybe cutting off any roots that look brown?

Thanks for the input! It's good to hear a confirmation of a theory from another perspective. I think we over watered them. Right now we are just sort of wondering if we should be waiting for them to recover before flower, how long it might take for them to recover, and if we need to add hydrogen peroxide to our next watering.

I was also reading the sick plant sticky threads and it looks like our plant has signs of PH problems(leaves twisted or folding, spots on leaves). The PH out of our kitchen sink is good. We agitate our water with a pump. We have watered with tea a couple of times, but I think it's possible that the over watering is causing all of those symptoms.

Patience. Just need to be patient.

I remember my kali responding well to topping, the node would tend to take over the branch like Swamp Thing growing a new limb.

I also remember a bit of overwater stress from me being an anxious grower. Overwatering with organics encourages the wrong kind of bacteria. Check if the drainage smells weird. Repotting will fix it pretty quick.

Maybe needs more perlite in the mix, maybe more legroom. Also this is just my weird thing I put a centimeter or half inch, somewhere around there, of perlite at the bottom of each pot. Seems to help air the roots out from the bottom with more surface area than the holes of the container, and also seems to help some with rootbinding.

I am so hoping for a smoke summary etc breakdown by phenotype when you harvest those kalis. I think I read somewhere Serious/Simon were working with the line some more since I grew it, I'm very curious.

Hey sneaky,

I'm growing Kali Mist as well, am at 22 days into veg now. Your journal clued me in on a cal mag deficiency I had (I'm running a DWC grow with RO water) and adding Cal Mag fixed the issue for me.

Those copper colored spots do look like Calcium deficiency according to Ed Rosenthal's Growing Handbook (2012 edition, page 171).

I am about to build a new 4x8 enclosure so finding your journal was great timing :)

Looks like watering shenanigans to me to. Have you checked out sub irrigated planters or blumats? It really turns soil growing into an effortless thing.

What exactly is in your soil mix? If you're relying on the microbial life to sustain your plants, the answer is usually more and/or better compost. Can you source local earthworm castings? Often times a simple EWC slurry does the trick if you are encountering some other problem on down the road.

Root aphids are the devil... 2 of the females i had in 10 gallon and they hermied.. the remaining kali aren't looking good at all ...

Now i'm 4 weeks into flower with winged root aphid fliers in the box.. so i'm debating on spending 500 dollars on shit to fight .. P bombs, botaniguard ES, Azatrol/azamax. And finally the most expensive preventative for RA.. Merit 52.

Sucks but its what has to be done to rid my space of these monsters...
I also killed my mothers, clones.
