Just got ROYALLY Fk`d by the Gov`t

Ok so I`m in Ontario.

When I was 18 (I`m 22 now) I was caught with like 7 grams of weed and 0.8 gram of coke.

I applied for a pardon in may 2011.

Just called today to see the status on my pardon (I talked to them awhile ago, pretty sure before march 2012; they said they'd have the court documents in October) and you know what they told me. I`M NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A PARDON UNTIL 2018.

Yeah.

Apparently in March 2012 they changed the time you could apply for a pardon for Indictable offenses from 4 years to 10 years and summary from 3 years to 5 years.

I called my lawyer he said it sounds pretty bad...

I don`t know what to do, maybe some legal buff here can help. Can I get an appeal? anything?

I'm really stressed out, I feel like hating myself or the goverment of canada or the stupid pardons company that was doing this.

What fucking goverment brought this new legislation in? They won't get my vote... Pathetic that's all the power I have......

I feel like going and living in the woods for the rest of my life.

Besides, it usually takes 7 years of good behaviour before you can apply for a pardon anyway... Also, another interesting fact is that even if you do get a pardon, the US does not acknowledge Canada's pardons of it's own citizens. As far as the US is concerned, you're still a convicted felon, pardon or not...

That company 'Pardons Canada' is nothing more than a scam to take your money for something you can do yourself.............again,.....at least you'll be eligible for a pardon if you behave yourself...

The changes to pardons came with the omibus crime bill that Harper and his cronies passed shortly after they got their majority. It also contains a lot other horrible changes to the justice system. They are clearly going after Cannabis users/producers.

So you can thank Harper and the people who voted for him.

No my lawyer is for my civil suit case for the burn injury to my eye.

This isn't really relevant for a MMAR license, I was told that I wasn't in enough pain to receive a license some time ago by my doctor. I thought this forum was for anything Canadian which is why I posted in here.

I''m going to at least try to get my money back from those cocksuckers, besides even with a pardon the police can still say they have 'relevant information' on a record check for any job that requires it, which is the exact same as having a criminal record.

So hopefully RECO doesn't care that I have a record (I'm fucked).

I was clearly mislead into believing a pardon would be useful in some way other than being pulled over by a traffic cop.

I now hate my life after this ordeal.

Hey dude, get over it. The system fucks us all over repeatedly. The ones that admit defeat are losers. The ones that pick themselves up, sweep themselves off and say "is that all you've got?" will ultimately prevail. Take it from me. am old fogie, life goes on for a long, long time and you've just hit a bump in the pavement. The crime doesn't matter that obviously happened almost 5 years ago.

I was just asking if there was any way I could still be pardoned. I wanted advice.

I don't understand where all these "buck up" posts are coming from. I've since moved on with my life from when I committed those crimes, I wanted to be pardoned so that I would not have my crimes follow me any longer so I could secure a decent job.

The government decided that even though my pardon was in the process that I would still have to wait 6 more years anyway. They re-niged on the deal basically. That's not right.

I wanted advice on steps I could take to make them follow through on their end of the bargain.

Again advice, I'll tell my self to buck the fuck up if I need to.

I did the crime and I did the time. I just wanted the government to hold their end of the bargain.
