Just Got My Seeds!

i give mine a small dose of nutes when they are about the same height as what yours are.

but this is my first time with rw also. so i am unsure of what the exact method is to do..

mine have about 6 leaves at the moment.

i guess from what i have been reading you can put them into hydro early get them under the powerful light but not have them that close. and maybe a weak nute soultion, but i'd wait till someone with a bit of expeirience to come in and let u know for sure.

p.s. one of my r/w went a bit green on top so i pulled him out and gave him some soil to grow in for the time being.

radium ~ Dont give them any nutes for the first week or two,,, or until you have a few sets of fan leaves showing. Seeds need nothing more than correct temps, humidity and lighting for the first couple 'o weeks.

Transfer to D.W.C when, AND NOT BEFORE, the roots protuding from your grow medium are long enough to reach the resevoir,,,,,or near enough to the water level to get a good splashing from the bubbles (if you're doing it that way ~ using air stones etc).

btw. After just reading your other thread where you were struggling with those clones,,,,,,if you're aero cloning like that you do not need to use a humidity dome.
Next time you try it ~ Cut the stem any old how. The whole 45 degrees thing is such bollox. Cut it at any angle you want,,,,, just scar / scrape the bottom half inch of the stem carefully,,,,removing the outer green layer ( i dont know the proper name for it...lol)
Keep the stem about half an inch above the water level,,,,with temps around the mid 70's.

stikkybudz: Ok I will hold off on the nutes for now, temp humidity and lighting should all be perfect them also. Now you say not to transfer till roots are long enough to dangle in dwc but if they grow out of the cubes inside the dome then they will be exposed to light and wouldnt that casue possible root rot? Thanks for the tips on the aerocloner also.

Anyhow here are some more pics DAY 5!

I'm assuming you'll be sitting those lil 1" RW cubes in another medium once the roots show?...eg/ clay pebbles or bigger 4" rockwool?

Either way,,,, its important not to let the roots (and RW) dry out. Whilst they're still in the dome you could always cover any growing roots.

Hey guys got a few more pics...

On one of the seedlings it looks like the leaves are yellowing in the centre a tiny tiny bit.

Should I be feeding them nutes? I was thinking of just putting them into the bubbler now... what do you guys think thanks.

On this one here it looks like the tip of the leaf has damage but it is from the seed where it detached.

I wouldn't worry about that right now. The bottom leaves will dye and fall off naturally within the 1st few weeks anyways. They probably don't need any nutes but if you do add some go very low on the dosage. Personally I'd hold off for a little bit. Something like Thrivealive or something with B-1 would help them root.

Are the roots through the rockwool? If not I'd wait until you can see the roots before putting them in the bubbler.

Sauce: the roots arent through the rockwool yet but you mean the first set of fan leaves die and fall off? not the very first 2 round leaves, cuz the problem is with the first set of fan leaves and today they are dropping even more but the round leaves on it are standing up straight...

radium ~ They dont need nutes for a good week or two yet. They should be pretty self sufficient until you hit the 3rd or 4th nodes (set of branches). You could easily fry them now with nutes ~ stop thinking about it will ya!!
The bottom fan leaves will eventually turn yellow and drop off. You should have a few sets of fan leaves before that happens though. If any of those other sets of fan leaves start yellowing too that will be a sign they need to start feeding. I've got a funny feeling you'll be feeding them way before that happens though. :)

Overall, they look healthy enough so far. The Rockwool looks a bit wet though judging by the colour of it. I.M.O you need to drain some of the excess water off (sucking it out with a syringe works wonders for fine tuning water content in rockwool.)
Soaking rockwool cubes will encourage root rot and slow growth down considerably. Its best to try and keep the rockwool damp enough so that it feels kinda "moist" to the touch. That will encourage any growing roots to go looking for water.

Alright guys its DAY 10! Most are starting to get their second set of fan leaves(which would be their third set of leaves if you include the two round ones). I included some pics sorry they are shitty quality.. its hard to lean over and keep your hands steady lol :)

Now this one below is the one that has some type of damage on the first set of fan leaves. The same thing has happened to its round leaves also, its yellowed a bit more just the tips and is drooping a lot more but the new fan leaves coming in look nice and green but they are still very tiny.. any ideas on whats up with this one?
*EDIT* It looks like there is a lot more damage but in the center of the plant those are water drops :( Sorry for shitty pics again

And here are the rest which seem to be doing great except one is a little slanted...

Also at first I was leaving a bit of water at the bottom of the dome for the cubes to wick up as needed but was told this was a bad idea, but now the dome has yet to fog up since I removed all the water... cubes are still moist but I gave them a little spray to be safe. Any ideas why the dome isnt fogging up anymore? Thanks

once the seedlings are "Above ground" it is a bad idea to have the dome on them anyway as they become vulnerable to fungus such as "Damp off"....the humidity could also make them steetch up and turn to mush. So I would just leave the dome off now if i were you.

spot on harry: also do u have a fan on those seedlings? it looks like u don't and if this is the case please do run out and buy one. that is crucial in order for them to grow strong and big........

also just take a deep breath here radium. i saw ur post over in the tokers den and there are plenty of people in hydro to help ya out mate but you have to put things into perspective and it helps to know exactly what you need help with. i.e. you could have started the thread listing all of your ?'s and you would have gotton much more feedback then askin the members to follow you through the first 2 weeks of ur seedlings. not tryin to take the piss here bro: just trying to shed some light on the situation.

there have been tons of threads poppin up lately that to put it mildly are kinda silly, so in this vein of thought a lot of threads are just either A. not being read. B. not responding too because the answer is already out there in another thread.

i understand ur seedlings are very important too you and ur not quite sure what to do with them, so you can wait till you see roots which should be very soon by now and as soon as that happens place em in ur bubbler. keep a fan on em 24/7 and keep ur ppm's really low in the beginning stages. water level should be just below the basket: water temp between 60-80 degrees (a lot of debate on this topic): adjust light accordingly to desired height so not to burn plants. that should help i hope.

and it would actually promote faster root growth by letting the cube dry out abit because the roots will then take more action in order to search out water. good luck radium.
