Just Got My Seeds!

Hey Guys Just got my Seeds today from Gypsy! I ordered some feminized C-99 seeds and he threw in some 007 freebies. I took 5 of the 007's and put them in a cup of RO water and sat them on a shelf on top of my seedling heat mat. After 24 hours I plan to put them in moist paper towel inside a ziploc bag and then place that on top of the heat mat. After they crack I am unsure whether to put them in 1' Rockwool cubes or in a cup of p/v mix, either way I will put either or in a dome under flouros. Anyone have any better ideas suggestions tips, anything is greatly appreciated thanks guys :)

*update* Just for the record none of my seeds sunk to the bottom and they all germinated fine

Radium, the way I do it is to soak them for 24 hrs in tapwater, put them in the paper towels inside the ziplock and then transplant to R/W when the roots are about 1/2" long. Basically I wait until they look like bean sprouts, then I take the RW cube, slice it in half near the top with a razor blade and lay the sprout in so that only the seed/leaf bit is poking out of the top. I close up the slit cube again gently sandwiching the taproot inside and stick a toothpick through the cube to hold it together while the sprout roots.

HTH.

i hate heat mats. mine turned my beans into mush. i ruined 5 Lsd beans, 5 sour bubble beans, and 5 blueberry beans with the stupid heat mats. I never used them before and trieds them out and it cooked em.
i know do it the old fashioned way, throw the beans in a damp paper towel in a bag and toss the bag on top of my computer monitor.

Hi mate, if your putting in Rockwool, make sure you pre-soak it with Ph adjusted water and some formulex, or you could use Jiffy pellets they have all the startup nutrients the little girls need...

i've just done my 007 ones also. but after the rock wool only one has survived and all were under the same conditions.

and one of my skunk's going strong too and reaching for the light!

but i did the cup o water, to wet paper towel in side zip loc bag, then to rock wool. which was soaked 24 hours before.

Hey guys after soaking for 24hrs off to the paper towel the seeds went and into a ziploc bag and then placed on top my seedling heatmat. I just checked on them and theyve been in there for about 10 hours and already one has a tail coming out i'll have more pics tomorrow.

I think am going to put into the 1'' rockwool cubes and then into the dome. was also thinking of taking a piece of foam and floating in on top of a mini bubbler with the taproot hanging in the water? Would that work and save me from using rockwool? Or should I suck it and and go with the cubes?

I am eventually putting into hydroton 5'' netpots in a 60 Litre 4 plant Bubbler. Any ideas guys thanks :)

That's a good to grow them up and no dome or RW whatsoever needed.
Make sure that you can remove the seedling easily later on.

I always use poolnoodles sliced and with a smale hole in them, hole little bigger at the top so the seedpod rests on the noodle and root is down in water. Within a day i has shed it's seedpod.

I second the pool noodle, but I make the hole just as big as a rapid rooter plug. Just went 20 for 20 germination to seedling, let hope for girls. LOL

Hey guys its day 2 since i put seeds in paper towel and 3 have a taproot coming out.

. I soaked the cubes for 10-15 hours in RO water which had a pH of 5.4 and PPM of 003.

I took them out and shook the excess water out of them and then put the seeds root down in them. One of them has the longest taproot ever! It Was a nightmare to get into a 1'' cube I had to cut the cube down the middle and position the root in carefully then i carefully sandwiched it back together and put toothpicks on either side to hold it together, I was careful and made sure not to touch the roots with my hands at all and covered the hole tops with a thin piece of rockwool.

Then I gave them a nice little spray and put the dome lid on and put them on top of my seedling heat mat and now I'm off to the races with my fingers crossed! Any tips, suggestions ideas are all greatly appreciated thanks guys

I think you have it pretty much covered, all you can do now is wait and see.
I do the same as Lothar except I use rapid rooter plugs instead of rockwool.

Hey guys its been another day I got 3 sprouts! Here are some pics anyway, I've been putting a little bit of water on the bottom of the tray so the cubes can wick it up if they need it, on the one on the far right the taproot is through the bottom of the cubes already! Just wondering how long I should keep them in this before transferring to netpots with hydroton into the bubbler?

Also does the light look to far away from them? Its as low as I can put it with my dome... Thanks guys

GotTheBlues: So what are you saying take the toothpicks out? I did touch them with my bare hands but I washed them first. Lothar recommended the idea to me, just worried if i take them out that it wil fall apart, maybe when more roots grow out...

Also do you guys think the dome is too high from the cubes? I know if its too far they will stretch like mad and fall over from their own weight. Thanks

Hey I decided to change the dome to a much smaller one. The first pic is the new one and the second is the old one.

All three sprouts are looking healthy and the 4th I'm still waiting on.

sweet as!

just dont make the mistake i did and leave the dome off for too long!! damn rock wool dried out and i almost lost one of my babies!

other than that my 007's are going fine.. i'm thinking of potting her outside. they are streatching alot tho!! which i am kinda affraid of! but when it comes time to put them in the bubbler i will just plant them a little deeper on the rocks.

i just started a doublegum also. will have to wait and see how she goes.
