Is it possible i can get a decent smoke flowering 1 week old seedlings?

WTF knows....Let's find out!

Some Romulan F2s were germinated and left under led while i was holidaying in North Wales.

The F2s are from seeds a result of a nice smoking Jake's Romulan BX1 female to 4 Romulan BX1 males.

After returning from the hills in spectacular style and comfort and a few days relaxing on the unspoilt beaches it is time to head back.

Luckily all the seedlings survived and i now have 9 little Romulan F2 plants, 10 days old

The light was switched to 315CMH, plants pinched out and the timer set to 12/12, or so i thought.

Unfortunately i'd set the digital timer to come on and off at exactly the same time so they spent the first 36 hours in darkness.

Hopefully i can get some bud out of this run as i have to move out when building work commences late October in 7 weeks time!!!

I haven't quite figured out how i'm gonna dry it come October when the builders arrive but we'll figure that bit out later.

Excuse the messy room

Stem rubs are currently blackcurranty skunky and mint.

My guess is you'll have small plants that will bring some bud indeed..they just won't flower as quick as u want them to. They gotta mature first and that takes about 4 weeks.. plus 8-10 weeks of flower. It doesn't matter if you give them less light, it simply means they will flower as soon as they physically can..or are those auto's?
For some very vigorous growing strains it might be an advantage of doing so, just to keep their growth in check.

I hope so @stiff. How much bud i end up getting I dunno but they are under a CMH which will beat just about any light for veg growth rate.

I do expect delayed or diminished flowering like you said but I only got 7 weeks or 8 then i gotta be out of the property so It is what it is...

The previous Romulan mum finished flowering in 7 weeks but was 6 weeks old when flowered not 2.

We'll see how it goes once they get some roots established.

Puuuuuuuush!!!!

Thanks for stopping by :tiphat:

Out of 9 seedlings, 5 are confirmed females.

Flowering is slooow due to immaturity of plants but i reckon i'll still get some decent buddage

Here they are at 14 days 12/12 with only a preflower or three and large stretch.

Smells on them are skunky, earthy with hints of pine and raw sausage meat.

One of them, the smallest of the 5 stinks of sour sweaty asshole, fart spray and pine.

I think you’ll definitely get some decent smoke. I’ve found starting flower at two 2 veg relatively the same as starting at 3-4 weeks. Onset of flower occurs around the same time in my set up with 9-10 week hybrids.

When growing from seed, I always view the 2 week transition from the switch, until visible flowers appear, to count as veg time. So two weeks veg, flip to flower, two weeks transition (veg growth), then onset of flower. That would make it 4 weeks total veg, kinda.

So I would view your plants as having around 3 weeks veg - depending on when onset of flower really occurred in your set up.

That transition time will be genetic dependent, but until flowering really sets in, the plant is still growing as if it’s on a light cycle of 18/6. The maturity of today’s hybrids, with the myriad of genetics at play, is difficult to tell. The more unstable the hybrid, the more finicky they are in transition.

Genetics with a high percentage of tropical genes have a longer transition so can be started with very little veg time.

I’ve always found the quality and size of my flowers largely depends on pot size and how I feed, not when I switched from veg to flower. And of course, quality of genetics!

Just my observations from starting seeds early because of my small growing space.

Thanks @Kalbhairav. Your comments are spot on.

Yes. The plants although they have been on a flowering light schedule for the last two weeks are showing a similar growth pattern to if they were on 18/6, albeit with slightly greater number of flowers.

When growing from seed, I always view the 2 week transition from the switch, until visible flowers appear, to count as veg time. So two weeks veg, flip to flower, two weeks transition (veg growth), then onset of flower. That would make it 4 weeks total veg, kinda.

That makes sense. The flip isn't as quick as with flowering mature clones.

I normally veg for 6 weeks but on my last run uppotted after 2 weeks 12/12 to bigger airpots. This produced a huge increase in yields vs how things normally go in smaller non airpots. I'll be getting some more compost on Monday and will pot them up to the larger airpots again.

Genetics with a high percentage of tropical genes have a longer transition so can be started with very little veg time.

I had to go remind myself of Romulan's genetics. Weird that some searches say it's a White Rhino cross but i do smell some similarities between a White Rhino i ran after it won the Cannabis Cup and these Romulan F2s.

Jake's Romulan is (Thai x Mexican x Colombian x Afghani) x Colombian.
White Rhino is Afghani, Brazilian, and South Indian.

Maybe the similarity is with the Afghani used. I wouldn't mention it but the raw sausage/fart spray/sour funk combo isn't something i've smelled before or since i ran the White Rhino almost 30 years ago.

Plenty of tropical genes there to handle the shorter veg time.

They smell and look unique:)

I'm hoping they turn out similar to the White Rhino from way back.

Plants got potted up to airpots.

Even though the airpots look only a bit bigger than the pots they were in before they are in fact double the size.

The remaining compost from the males was just enough to fill the gaps in potting up.

Here they are a few days later.

And after a lens wipe and a bit of light bondage

IMG_2425.jpg

Stem rubs are stewed plums, fart spray, sour sweaty arses and old paper £1 notes

Very unique plants.

Finally we have the start of some flowers.

I added the 250W HPS to the 315W CMH.

The HPS on the right looking brighter means i think i need to buy a new CMH bulb. It has to be 4 or 5 years old now

IMG_2435.jpg

Flowers are fluffy and sparse due to the plant age at flowering ( 1 week old seedlings )

To me they look like 3 week flower plants whereas they are actually 4, so not too far behind but obviously yield is gonna suffer flowering such small plants.

Nevertheless, one plant looks like its gonna be a yielder. Shame i only have another 3 or 4 weeks left to flower it out but resin is starting to show and smells are developing.

IMG_2434.jpg

Smells range from Fizzer/Love heart sweets, piney lemon, to raw sausage meat with hints of licorice.

A midweek update :whee:
You'll be pleased to know the arse smell has totally disappeared @Jacques Strappe :tiphat: :spank:

Starting to pack on some resin. I rubbed a few leaves to get a whiff, smudging the resin :yummy:

They all have a pine smell to the resin, some more than others with it ranging from pure Vicks Wintergreen smell to a more Conifer pine smell. There are still raw sausage notes to some.

One has an initial hint of Licorice followed by a longer back note of Grapefruit.

One has the smell of Pelargonium 'Old Spice', piney, grapefruity with a fine cologne smell pervading throughout.

One has the smell of Mango skin combined with the fruity rubber smell of a freshly unpacked Space Hoppa.

The one in the right corner, the fluffy yielding looking gal, smells like tinned Peaches fading to Apricot.

IMG_2438.jpg

Had a wee smoke of some lower cut off immature buds with hardly any resin.

It's already on a par with the sage i grew before and has a really nice archaic feeling to it and nice grins; I've a feeling it's gonna be some goooood weed.

Another midweek update :D

The little Romulan F2s are coming along.

A nice familiar smell greets me when i unzip the tent. A smell that takes me back.

Buds are hinting that they are putting on some weight and plumping up a bit but i doubt they will be finished in the next 2 weeks.

They look like they need at least another 3 weeks, possibly 4!

Anyway. Smells are changing and developing.

img_2462-jpg.18902384

Out of the 5 phenos this one below is gonna be a yielder. She now smells like a Ginster's Cornish pasty, meaty with spices. Like a packet of Walker's Roast chicken crisps. Meaty with a spicy fruityness.
IMG_2461.jpg

This beauty below smells of forest moss, earth and pine. She is a bit slow but developing resin on the main stem.
IMG_2458.jpg

Another plant smells of Cornish pasties, meaty with a Conifer and cologne finish, another smells of straight ripe Pineapples and another of Pine forests with Ammonia/damp gym towel.

Bulking up a bit but still lots of white hairs.

Builders have said they will start work in 2 weeks time!

Should have a little something smokeable by then but they coud do with longer :smoke:

thats interesting, because federation seeds used white rhino to make backcross with Joes Romulan cut.

Good Morning @MAHA KALA :tiphat: Grab yourself a hot coffee.

Yes it's interesting.

I have a very sensitive nose and great that these smells can take you back decades in an instant eh?

Wooooosh!

I hope to assimilate a very large 3d grid of smells and weed with this 🍈

The White Rhino i had was from seeds bought in Fulham 20 odd years ago. I got two amazing phenos with that sausage/bleach smell to the veg plants and flower. Something these Romulan F2s had too in veg/early flower.

Ya know those early White Rhinos were my first foray into hydro flood and drain. They were simply an amazing smoke.

The smells are evolving further now with the Rom F2s. I'm really hoping there will be some nice variation in the highs they provide as i'm a bit bored of smoking sage now. The sage fems are an ok smoke but ya know variety and all that.....I will have to make some concentrates with some of it.

If the smells are anything to go by with the Roms i should be very very happy as they stink in such a unique way they should surely provide a similar unique high.

Smells range from earthy forest Pine, Vicks vapor rub to a Pine/Pomelo/Mandarine, butyl rubbery cologne.

I can't wait!
