Joe Biden Thread

I think Joe Biden will bring us an Echo of 1994, when Clinton lost the House, bringing the world Newt Gingrich.

and Clinton also lost the Senate.

Of course the Dem-Repub model of government is a very twisted model that works to the disadvantage of the General Public.

Occasionally the General Public is given the reins of government, voting proposition by proposition, referendum by referendum.

Which I think is how Switzerland does it a lot of the time.

we would be far better off if public initiated propositions were allowed in all 50 states. only getting to vote on what our overlords think is a good idea is a national disaster, as is the ability of a committee chairman in the House or Senate to refuse the members wish to debate or vote on a bill the chair does not want to see the light of day...

As long as we're fantasizing let's install a jury duty type Congress.

Since nobody seems to be represented by our representatives why don't we just assure a random mix of the people ignoring their constituents?
juries are NEVER "random" mixes. the DA does his damn best to keep educated people off of a jury, too hard to fool. and it only takes ONE intelligent person to hang a jury and waste all of the DAs hard work.

What you aren't going to weigh in??!!

Even if you did live here there's a good chance you wouldn't think that your vote counted.

In light of Beavis and Butt-Head agreeing with my idea, I guess we better just stick with no term limits and letting both sides of the aisle line their pockets and leaving the nation to rot.

Nah I actually agree, I think it would be a better representation of general society in terms of justice. Not sure how much faith I'd put in the general public, that was the point of the Beavis and Butthead post. I also just think they're funny and had seen that episode lately.

It doesn't matter what I think of my vote counting, I'm a convicted felon so wouldn't have that right if I were back home anyways.

We don't have term limits down here in NZ and it's worked well for us. Our political system isn't based off capitalistic cronyism or propped up by big business though.

Haha, yeah farmers do hold a lot of power here, they're not that happy with the farming emissions laws coming into effect though. Lord of the rings is still a pretty big cash sheep too. Guess we gotta be proud of something aside from wool... We got pretty good weed too, Gandalf's got the magic touch, literally. :smokeit:
