Hitting Ocho Rios in May with the Mrs. for our anniversary.

What's the best way for pasty, middle aged white dude to score some decent herb?

I hear that the longer you hold out (offers from cabbies, bell boys, beach attendants, etc.), the better odds of less expensive, good weed.

Any brothers or sisters in that area that can offer tips? Any regulars here that can offer some suggestions?

TYVM in advance - no names or actual contacts needed, just a general "how to" query.

It will find you everywhere you go , be picky cause real good weed can be found but Id get out of Ochos to find it .

I'm actually headed to Ochos Rios in a few weeks for our belated Honeymoon. I'll let you know. I here it's everywhere. I'll probably try people who work at the resort.....I know the legality of it has changed for the better, but I'm still worried in the back of my mind winding up in a prison for getting caught.

Here's our experience: Took the trip to nine mile, Bob Marley's house and tomb. A rasta was our guide on the bus. Told him about our need for some ganja and on our trip he had the bus stop by a farmers house on the way the mountain. Straight from the farmer, natural grown Mon. It was a decent price and good sticky ganja. Rocky also caught us at the market, hope he's still out there and would take care of any request for additional ganja we had during our stay. As a matter of fact, every time we left our resort, Rocky would find us in minutes and ask if we needed more. Wish we were going with you. Peace and respect Mon.

It's been over 10 years since I've been there but you won't have any trouble at all finding it. People will literally run after you on the beach asking you what you need. I was young enough at the time that I wasn't smoking and turned away all offers so I can't attest to the quality or price.

How do you find weed in JA .....just stand still, everybody has some they want to sell you

Don't buy it on the beach, hustlers and cops, you'll pay up to 10 times what your taxi driver will charge you

BTW expect to be given a 2ft long herbstalk not loose flowers

Take you own rizla as they're expensive and something to keep them dry in, the JA$ is so worthless that single rizla can be used as currency

Last time I went to the island "Kiki"(pronounced kee kee) weed was the highest grade on the island

Yes Rizla is also the generic word amongst the Jamaicans for papers, always king size, they're about $2/2.50 a pack, up to $5 on the beach

Don't be too generous with the rizlas, theyre worth about JA$10 and if you stop in a beer joint, those little shacks by the side of the road, you get a brown paper roll of ganja and buy the rizla separately, so handing them out is polite to you but it robs the owner

Take lots of lighters, Jamaicans will "borrow" every one and keep your phone out of sight or the next time you see it it'll have no credit

Prices vary by who you are, most taxi drivers specialising in airport shuttles will start off around $US75 per stalk, they'll usually easily go from there to 50 but sometimes less, if you tell the guy you'll be using him throughout your stay and will be sharing it with him then quality will shoot up and price drop, anything less than 20 then you're doing well for a first timer ....btw in JA 9 guys 9 spliffs, everyone smokes their own spliff

Enjoy yourself, eat local, fried breadfruit ...yum

if your picky then you coud end up in the mountains and get some proper "fire" but you will need to travel,,,,
like others have said "outside" the touristy bits,,,,
on my last visit i was getting lots of charas very cheaply as the dreads didnt like it,,,,
they love there sativas and football on the beach,,,,s2

Have fun man. Never been to Jamaica but in the U.S. Virgin Islands herb was VERY easy to score if you wanted. I went to a beach called Coki after landing and scored a bag hours after arrival...

I went up to a local older guy who looked the type. He was just chillin' in the shade, asked him if he could get me a $20 bag of weed. Old guy with dreads told me to go back over to my spot on the beach and hangout, be back in a few. 20 minutes later dude came strolling up the beach with a decent bag of local herb ( a few grams ).

I hit that same beach up two more time that week and scored from a different local each time.
